Yes, gritty on application and eventually becomes oily (on my combination skin – though i think a lot of the oiliness comes from the humidity where i live and id have it regardless of product). Given this, I apply at night only or during the day when I’m not going out. However…it does what it says it will. My skin is usually clear, acne free and has hardly any fine lines, however i feel this product assists in making my skin be the best it can be for my age.

I agree with the other reviewers who said it’s got a gritty and oily texture. I’m afraid I didn’t use it consistently enough (because of that) to be able to say much about its effects, but it didn’t irritate my skin too much and seems to have done its job otherwise. I’ve switched to the powder that you mix with the resveratrol and ferulic acid, even though that one’s much more of a hassle to use. I might switch yet again to one of their emulsions or oil formulas of vitamin C.

This product has a weird grainy texture, very strange. It’s also very oily. It put me off first because you have to put it early before going to bed or your sheets will be trashed. However it works, it helps old hyperpigmentation spots fade faster than ever. But somehow the effect decreased (it might be my imagination) overtime. It might be oxydation or m skin getting used to it.

Favourite vitamin C product. It delivers results, but is a bit of a hassle. I prefer to mix the product with a small amount of a bland moisturiser or serum. That way the grittiness disappears completely, and I also find the product absorbs more quickly.
I use this at night a couple of times a week. My skin is noticeably more glowing, even toned and plump in the morning. I have sensitive skin but tolerate this well. I also find this has helped a lot with fading stubborn melasma patches. All in all, the product is great value if you want a high dose of vitamin C.

If you have acne prone skin stay away!
It made my face full of whiteheads and blackheads that at first I didn’t understand where they came from. And I am talking about places that I never had that problem before.
Furthermore, it is too oily and it seems to never absorb into the skin.

Not my favorite Vitamin C product. I thought this would be an easy way to introduce myself to vitamin C. I was looking for the brightening effects since I have some redness. I didn’t like the texture of this product. It felt grainy going on and was a bit difficult to blend around my face. I gave it a week’s worth of use before I just couldn’t do it anymore. I know you are supposed to give skincare 4-6 weeks at the very least before you judge it’s effectiveness, but I did not like how it made my skin feel and I had several breakouts on my cheeks after using it. I don’t care for this texture and have since discovered I prefer vitamin C in serum form because of my dry skin.

I really dislike this tube of vit C in the first few times when I use it. I feel not comfortable with my face after every use. It has very strong tingling sensation and gritty like most people could experience. I then stop using it as I can’t cope with the tingling sensation and grittiness and just put it aside on my make up table until after I started to incorporate TO granactive retinoid into my skin care routine.
I resume this vit C after my face is stable with retinoid. I use this vit C by mixing it with few drops of Hada Labo hyaluronic lotion in AM while retinoid in PM. Surprisingly, mixing it with hyaluronic lotion helps to normalise the tingling sensation of the vit C. Of course the grittiness is something that can’t be avoided.
I experienced minimal purging in the beginning but it only last for 1-2 weeks. I notice my face is softer and smoother only after 2 weeks of using. It also helps to boost up my acne healing way faster than when I use retinoid alone. As for existing acne scars that stick on my face, I also notice the scars fade up a little.
It has been almost 1 month now and I’m glad I never throw this tube away. Using vit C+ retinoid together really work wonder to keep my acne under control and I don’t get breakout as often as before.

So I had heard mixed reviews about this but the positive outweighed the negative so i thought i would give it a try. It did NOT disappoint!
I have sensitive skin and was worried about the ‘tingling’ sensation it is known to give so i decided to try this at night. I applied a small about all over my face (avoiding eyes) on my cleansed and toned skin. Lo and behold the ‘tingling’ (stinging) sensation began in a few areas.. i grabbed a fan and reached for some bio oil. After applying bio oil on top the tingling stopped.
When i woke up the next morning… I had expected red or dry patches but no…. My skin looked fab! Not only did it look brighter, it looked plump, feels sooo soft and my pores looked smaller! All this after 1 application.. i hadn’t realised how dull my skin looked before this.
The contents would be better in a glass bottle with a pipette as it’s quite thin so take care when opening. It’s quite thin which sits on your skin like an oily feel and takes a while to absorb and grainy, the grains aren’t harsh (don’t aggravate skin) and has a slight smell. Make sure you wash your hands properly after applying as it oxides (turns orange.. face doesn’t turn orange). Be careful re pillowcases as they may stain. ‘Tingling’ hardly occurs now as skin has grown used to it. Great price too.. approx £5.
Overall, I have been using this for 2 months almost every night and it has transformed my skin, my face looks and feels better every morning. Marks are fading, skin looks smoother, hardly need primer as foundation glides on perfectly. People are commenting on my glow/healthy skin and the only newbie to my routine is this.
I would suggest mixing it with a moisuriser/facial oil (i use bio oil) if you have sensitive skin or applying it on top (what i do) until your skin gets used to it. Don’t let the tingling put you off right away (unless it’s irritating then definitely wash it off).
This is now a permanent fit in my daily nighly routine and i wouldn’t be without it 🙂

I think the vitamin C in this product is preserved very well, well past 6 months. I did not finish the product in 6 months but went back to applying it sometimes afterwards and the vitamin C still felt active. I did notice some color changes on the dried residue when the product passed the 6 month mark.
The only downside is you may not like the texture, which is a bit thick like a hydrating lotion, not like a serum. I used it to address my brown spots from chemical damage and freckling but it did not lightenen them. My skin texture felt a bit more fresher but nothing significant. I use vitamin C now for it’s antioxidant benefits only anyways. I hear it’s still necessary to apply regularly. Now, I used the Ordinary’s ascorbic acid powder instead.

I’m a TO devotee and I’ve been using this for almost 1 year and I love it. Yes it’s a bit gritty and can sting if you’re not used to a higher concentrate of vitamin C but stinging diminishes after continued use. I’ve got really good skin with only very slight fine lines at 56 and I’m religious about skin care and this has improved, brightened and hydrated very well. To make it even more effective i mix their pycogenol (only 2-3 drops) and it’s a powerhouse combination that smooths and hydrates even more. It’s also helping with some mild pigmentation. I’m pretty fussy about what goes on my face and I’ve used some pretty high end products but I’m very impressed with what this combo does and have no immediate plans to change anything. I top this with my moisturiser and a mix of TO facial oils, sunscreen and TO’s silicone primer and I’m hydrated all day. Couldn’t be happier with the results. It’s about getting the right combination that works for you, trial and error most of the time but when you hit it, you’ll know.
