Another great product from the ordinary. Skincare can be very affordable and of good quality! When I was first using the product, I had issues with pilling, but as soon as I figured out what it was, it went on smoothly. I am using the product now for nearly two months, and I apply it in the evening with my other ordinary products, which is a skincare regimen for dry skin, and they work! They will last you forever, as you only need 1-2 drops! I can’t tell if they are working if you are using them on its own, but a combination will work for sure! One of the few acid exfoliants my skin can handle. I have tried low percentage lactic acid and glycolic acid and they are just too irritating. I still do not mix this mandelic exfoliant with other actives. It gives a nice glow to the skin after application.

This is meant to be a very gentle chemical exfoliant. It has an oily consistency and applies like a dry oil. And is so gentle i can’t tell if the softening of the skin the morning after is due to exfoliation or just from using a facial oil type product.
However if you’re new to chemical exfoliation this is a great place to start as I experienced no irritation at all, and is safe to use nightly. I now mix it with TO’s glycolic acid and they work well together! Bonus: it feels less olly that way and i get a stronger exfoliant that still doesn’t cause any burning or stinging

I was excited to try this serum since I like chemical exfoliants and wanted to try something more gentle than glycolic or lactic acid. It is a transparent liquid with a quite light consistency and no scent. At application, it somehow feels oily but absorbs quickly. The packaging is pretty typical for The Ordinary, a dark glass bottle with a dropper. The serum provides light exfoliation and hydration. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough exfoliating for my combination to oily clog-prone skin, but I think it can be a good option for beginners and people with more sensitive skin. It is perfect for first-time acid users. Just begin at 1-2 times a week and slowly increase the usage.

I do not use this all over my face but mostly just on the blackheads and whiteheads on my nose. It feels oily going on but dries to a not-oily finish. A little goes a long way. The blackheads are still there but smaller and lighter; much less noticeable. Usually, I use it over Azelaic Acid 15% and have only had one time that it caused skin peeling in the nasal troughs. It really makes the back of my hands and upper chest smooth and younger-looking. It is not drying for my skin, and I am older with more delicate skin. The only con is it comes with an old-fashioned glass dropper with a large hole at its tip that makes it very hard to dispense a small amount. I will definitely repurchase.

This did and didn’t work for me.
Initially I purged big time.
The only good thing about this is that it helped with closed comedones and keeping my skin clear for the most part, but not always.
Other than that and the worst thing about this, is the fact that it made my skin flake like CRAZY!!! I had never experienced something like that in my life. I couldn’t even put makeup on. It was just terrible. The flakes were even accentuated by moisturizer! The flaking didn’t stop until I stopped using the acid.

I purged pretty bad after 1 week of using this. But the acne isnt cyctic, they were the little whiteheads that fall out by itself if you dont touch it. I did get a couple spots that did hurt for the first day to the touch but do not stick around too long. It didnt help my closed comedones or scarring but i only used it for 2 weeks and gave up. The dryness and flaking was very bad to the point i cant even wear makeup and no moisturizer was enough to help the flakes. I cut down to only using at night then just stopped. I couldnt deal with the dryness. I have oily skin and this made my forehead dry. Which ive never seen before. I wish i can continue because ive heard rave reviews of this but its a no for me. I am currently trying curology! Hope it helps

On a month-long travel without any physical or chemical exfoliators, my skin was peeling (from dry air) and clogged from lack of exfoliation. Having had good experience with the mandelic acid from Naruko, I ran to the Deciem store in Munich and grabbed the Mandelic Acid + HA. I’ve since used it for a week and my T-zone area is significantly less clogged and no longer peely (with some help from the TO marula oil too). Highly recommended!

I really like The Ordinary and how you can customize and create your own skincare regimen with their products. I was very interested in the Mandelic Acid 10% + HA because I have seen mandelic acid in some exfoliants but have not seen it as the main ingredient in other serums. I have been using this in place of my other exfoliant (Paula’s Choice Advanced AHA 10% Smoothing Treatment) on days when I use other treatment masks, if my skin is feeling particularly sensitive that day, or if I will be outside a log the following day. I like that mandelic acid is more gentle and provides a little less exfoliation than many other AHA or BHA’s. This would also be a good exfoliant serum for someone who is new to exfoliants or uses a retinol cream. Overall I like this serum, it’s texture, it absorbs easily but can be used with other serums and creams at the same time. My review can be seen here:
