FOR MY SENSITIVE, ACNE-PRONE, COMBINATION SKIN, THIS WORKS FOR ME, IF USED EVERY FOUR WEEKS. IT ISN’T A THICK GEL, VERY WATERY. EVERY WEEK, IT’S BEST TO USE A DAILY, EXFOLIATING, FACIAL MUD MASK, AND A WEEKLY, 5% SALICYLIC ACID FACIAL, WITH THIS PRODUCT. AVOID WAXING, OR TWEEZING FOR TWO WEEKS AFTER USING THE PEEL. ALWAYS APPLY SUNBLOCK/SUNSCREEN THREE TIMES PER DAY. THE PEEL IS BEST USED IN THE EVENING, AND AVOID DIRECT SUNLIGHT FOR TWO DAYS, RIGHT AFTERWARDS. IT DOES PURGE/BRING A LARGE AMOUNT OF ACNE, BLACKHEADS, AND WHITEHEADS TO THE SURFACE, AFTER THREE MONTHS OF REGULAR USAGE. OVERALL, IT’S BETTER THAN DAILY USE OF ANY BENZYL PEROXIDE PRODUCTS, AS IT’S LESS IRRITATING TO SENSITIVE SKIN TYPES. AS YOU AGE, YOUR SKIN CELLS DON’T TURN OVER AS EASILY, SO IT ADDRESSES THE PORE-CLOGGING, DEAD SKIN CELLS, AND REDUCES THE OILINESS. FOR HYPERPIGMENTATION, IT CAN WORK, TO REMOVE OIL, FOR LIGHT, ALPHA HYDROXY ACID FACIALS, TO PREP THE SKIN SURFACE, RIGHT BEFORE THOSE TREATMENTS. FOR WOMEN: TRY TO TIME IT A WEEK PRIOR TO YOUR DAY ONE/PERIOD’S START DATE THOUGH. THIS MAY REDUCE HORMONAL, PMS-INDUCING, ACNE BREAKOUTS. I ONLY LEAVE IT ON FOR A COUPLE MINUTES, AND RINSE OFF WITH A GENTLE, TEA TREE OIL, FACIAL CLEANSER, USING A SOFT, COTTON WASHCLOTH AND ROOM TEMPERATURE WATER. THEN, I USE A 10% BENZYL PEROXIDE MOISTURIZER, BY ACNE FREE, SEVERE, OVERTOP MY FACE, RIGHT AFTERWARDS.

I use Salicylic acid 20% every 5-7 days and it has kept me clear of acne for the last three weeks which is unheard of. I leave the peel on for 5 minutes before neutralizing with plain tap water. I then moisturize with jojoba oil and shea butter. I was dry for the first 4 applications post peel but my skin is acclimated to it at this point. Amazing find, I just wish I knew about it years ago before I developed deep acne scars. PS this also lightens hyperpigmentation. Simply Amazing!

I buy my salicylic acid from eBay and mine is 30% but it’s pretty much the same thing. Mine is cut with alcohol and this is the best that works for me. It’s important to follow instructions and not leave on for more than one minute your first time then you can gradually add on a minute each time and never exceeding 8 minutes. I only use it once a week all over my face to prevent breakouts and this has been the only thing that controls my breakouts effectively. If I have one or two pimples that are poking out and painful, I spot treat it and 9 times out of 10 it gets rid of it, stops it in it’s tracks. The more stubborn ones I need to treat it a couple times and don’t go away until I pop it. I find that it’s most effective for controlling breakouts and acne scarring. I can’t comment on the anti wrinkle claim as I don’t have deep wrinkles. I only have very fine laugh lines and I do use it on them but haven’t really noticed a change. I will say that it burns my creases.. Like my laugh lines and both sides of my nose meeting my cheek. I can’t leave it on those places for more than a minute or two or else it turns white and burns like hell then it turns into a scab. It’s supposed to dry your skin and peel hence gel “peel”.. But leaving it on too long in certain areas could burn like mine does. I exfoliate my skin with an exfoliating glove and acne wash every morning and when I use salicylic acid, I use it right after I exfoliate my face for better penetration. My skin feels so soft and it tightens my skin and shrinks my pores. I love this stuff! It costs me about $20. Well worth it. a small bottle lasts me about a couple years.

I bought my last bottle over a year ago- I first used this to spot treat minor breakouts then later all over larger parts of my face when my acne got worse ( hormonal) – and you have to be careful with this. My skin loves BHA’s and you have to work this over time. I have found it has brought some of my deep red cystic acne to a head and cleared out pores. When I stop using this, I can tell, my skin gets congested with underground cysts and the sort. I recommend this for someone looking to try a mild peel to bring out underground cysts and mild pimples.
5 stars, will rebuy.

I have never had a chemical peel in my life before now. I had high expectation, but I don’t see results.
I ordered sallicylic acid, because I had a couple of red spots from pimples on my side cheeks and chin and for some reason they didn’t fade for around a year. Sometimes I have pimples here and there, but they go away, not these. Plus, I have enlarged pores on my cheeks and blackheads here and there.
After 6 sessions with 5, 6 days break in between, the red spots have not been removed and haven’t faded. All blackheads are still here. I do see that my skin started to peel and flake a little, but that’s it.
I started from 1 min and it pinched horribly, but didnt get red. After six times I can keep it on the face for 4,5 min.
I will start using it and may be move on to applying two coats at a time and will see if it helps.
As far as I understand that level of PH does matter too. As I understand domestic peels are superficial, may be I need medium or deep peels, which are done at SPA’s and quite pricey.
I will update on how it works when applied two layers. But for now I can’t see any difference in appearance of my skin.
I will repurchase it but will move from 20% to 30% to see if it makes any difference.
Update.
Now, I can tolerate it for a longer time. After 2,3 min I don’t feel any stingers and I actually apply second coat. I know it’s not recommended but a couple of times I didn’t even wash it off. My skin does flake noticeably, it softer, but unfortunately my red sports on the side of the cheeks are not gone at all!!!!!! This is very surprising, because I not only have done 10 or nine sessions for the whole face with 5 days break in between but also applied everyday on the sports only!!!
I also applied it two, three times on freshly appeared pimple and it was gone in a matter of days! But this red sports are really stubborn and I believe I have to try smth stronger.
As sun is getting more aggressive, because of the warm season I stopped the peeling for a while. So far I had 11, 12 sessions. I don’t see any results. The red and dark spots have not gone, neither blackheads. No results at all!
…………………update………………………..
I am not using this peel for around two weeks and I must admit that my red spots on the side of the cheeks did fade may be 50% but still there. I am still considering to order 30% with lower PH level, but from another company.

This stuff did not get rid of my acne or improve my scars. In fact, it exacerbated both! What a total rip off. For professional results, I think that you just need to go to the professionals.

I am really impressed with this stuff. I`ve used it for a couple months every 5-6 days or so, and my skin tone has improved dramatically. It makes your skin look refined and toned. A small patch of melasma on the side of my cheek has faded about 50 percent as well. At first, I noticed I would peel a couple days after a 10 min application, but after using it for 8 weeks, I no longer peel. I think my skin has reached a plateau, and there is no more dead skin to slough off. If your`e thinking about getting a chemical peel at a salon or dermatologists office, I`d definitely recommend trying this first. I can only imagine what they charge for a peel ( that gives you the same results as this does) Follow the directions, and do a patch test on your forearm first, and then use it one a week. Most people seem to only handle about 5 min, but i`ve been using retin a for 10 years, so my skin is used to harsh chemicals so to speak, so I leave it on a bit longer. They say to dab it on your skin with a cotton pad or fan brush but I simply apply it with my finger so not to waste any of the product. It will sting, burn and itch for the first 2 min, but that subsides after about the 4th application. I`m actually surprised there aren`t more reviews for this product. I guess people haven`t discovered it yet. I`d wager the salons don`t want people to!

For at77339,
Just wanted to comment on why husband’s skin reacts better to Salicylic Acid 20% gel peel. I studied men’s skin when I worked at Macys Men’s fragrances dept. Women cannot compare our skin to men’s. Men have thicker skin on their face. So, the skin is tougher and can tolerate more. Also, men exfoliate daily or almost daily by shaving. That is why you see men with dull, dead skin cells on their forehead. Men do not go through a biological change of life. When menopause happens to us, lots of factors can affect our skin, temperment, weight and generally almost everything.
So, just a few comments to help you understand why the Salicylic Acid 20% gel peel works differently. Not just between the sexes but basically everybody. It can work great for some people but not others. So, it is a very personal unique experience.
I just ordered this product and am anxiously waiting to start the routine. I have been on the Obagi Nu-derm system for ten years and am really pleased with it but now that I am older, I want an extra boost.

My husband and I use this every 3-4 days for almost a month now and it works. It’s not fair that my husband skin responds to this peel much faster than mine. But he doesnt have acne, acne scars or dark spots to begin with but his skin is much more even and the pores are barely notice. Again it’s not fair. My skin feels less pumpy, the acnes are gone slowly, the dark spots are lighter and the pores are still there but getting smaller. I think if I keep using this for another month I won’t have to use concealer any more. I’m planning to use the glycolac to even out my skin tone and get ridded of the dark spots faste after I’m done with this bottle. Btw we got the big bottle so it will take a while 🙂 I also use this as spot treatment. As soon as I see/feel something come up I just put this for 5-8 min and it will dry up the next day. I love this peel and feel less stress about TOM 🙂
