I bought this product for around $12 when taking my first tentative steps into skincare. At the time I didn’t understand the concept of putting oils on my face. This particular oil is a mix of rosehip seed & vitamin E. At first, I made the mistake of slathering this all over my face before bed. I’d wake up with pretty bad breakouts.
As time went on & I finessed my skincare routine, I realized that vitamin E oil clogs my pores… but the benefits of the rosehip seed oil are undeniable. Now I just use a small amount on certain areas of my face, which yields more favorable results.
Rosehip seed oil is made up of a high percentage of essential fatty acids (over 70% of each rosehip seed is fatty acid). It’s a natural source of vitamin A (retinol), Vitamin C, & also linoleic & linolenic acids (omega-6 & omega-3.)
When I use it my skin feels rejuvenated & hydrated. I’ve started developing my first fine lines but feel like they’re less noticeable when using this product. The acne marks I have fade faster & my acne scarring appears less noticeable.
I’ll definitely repurchase rosehip seed oil but I’ll get a different brand that doesn’t have vitamin E oil in it.

I have been using this as a serum after toner for more than 3-4 months. I have oily-sensitive skin but my skin isn’t prone to acne or pimples. I only get oil bumps if I don’t clean my face thoroughly, and have dark spots as I was too lazy to put on sunscreen as a teenager. I bought it because of the youtuber Bubzbeauty recommended it. This lightens up the dark spot, but my favourite is it helps me absorb my face cream INCREDIBLY well. When you wake up, you often feel there is residue on your face (stickiness, oiliness), but whenever I apply this on, my face feels instantly hydrated and soft when I wake up. The difference is very noticeable.
The only downside, and as someone mentioned below, is because it contains Vitamin E, it may clog the pores and cause break-outs. I did have a few weeks when I was very stressed and working 7 days a week, so as soon as I start to notice bumps forming, I stopped using it as I wasn’t sure if it was from this or from the stress. It is summer right now so I’m also using it every other day. I’m trying Sukin and Kosmea Rose Hip Oil next, which is without Vitamin E so I will edit this post again whether it was really just the Vitamin E.

On my third bottle. It’s much thicker than plain rosehip oil, the vitamin E content must be pretty high. I really like it, but vitamin E can clog my pores if I’m not careful. So instead of using it straight all over my face, I just mix a few pumps of this product in with about a tablespoon of another lighter oil, like coconut or grape seed. Doing this thins the consistency and dilutes the vitamin E content. Much better, no stray clogs, absorbs faster.
I do use it straight on my eye area, however.
Very soothing, moisturizing and softening. For my skin using oils to moisturize is far better than any cream. I control the ingredients, make small batches, and add targeted essential oils as I like. It’s cheaper too. I attribute my great skin to the use of oils as moisturizers for the last 12+ years. It’s the only thing I’ve done consistently, and I was super careless with tanning/not wearing SPF in FL for many years. My skin should be destroyed. Genetics only get you so far when it comes to photo-aging.
Like other have mentioned, the pump container is nice – but inconsistent. Another reason I decant it into cobalt glass dropper bottles.

I bought this for $12.99 at my local health store. I’ve been wearing less and less makeup recently so I’ve been using this as a serum after cleansing. I use one full pump for my whole face (but sometimes I will only use half a pump). My skin is sensitive, acne-prone and I might have mild rosacea (my mom and grandmother have it, but I haven’t been formally diagnosed…yet). My skin tone seems a little more even and less red, but I’ve only been using it a month so far. I will continue to use this and update my review about continued improvement or stagnation…whichever. So far, I really like this.

I wanted to love this product. I have ice pick scarring on my cheeks and heard that rosehip seed oil is a godsend when it comes to minimizing deep scarring on the face. This was the only brand of rosehip seed oil available at the whole foods store that I went to. I wasn’t thrilled about the fact that this stuff contains Vitamin E oil (I know that it’s amazing for your skin but it always clogged my pores and caused me to break out.) However, I figured I’d still give it a shot. Not sure why… that was a mistake and error in judgement.
I can’t remember exactly how much I paid for this but I want to say the price point was $10 – $15. The packaging is okay. It says to store in the refrigerator and not keep for longer than six months (I followed those instructions.) The pump isn’t really the most convenient thing, surprisingly, since pumps are usually awesome. But this one squirts out product uncontrollably and makes it really hard to control the amount you’re dispensing.
One or two pumps is enough for my entire face. I didn’t dilute it with anything (maybe that’s the problem?) After application, there is a strong scent (I can detect the vitamin E and also what I assume is the scent of rosehip seed oil, which isn’t pleasant.) I can smell it until the next time I wash my face… it’s very pungent. Immediately after applying, this product sinks into the skin pretty quickly for an oil and my skin does feel soft and supple.
However, the downfall is inevitably, the next day my pores are SO CLOGGED and my skin just feels incredibly oily. Yeah, you’d think DUH since I’m putting an oil on my skin. But what I’ve heard is that certain oils actually help oil control… maybe for oily skin? But for my dry/normal skin it’s a little too much. At first I didn’t want to attribute my skin freak outs to this oil (I started using several new products at once and thought maybe another was the culprit.) But alas, this is what’s doing it.
Maybe in the future I’ll try out PURE rosehip seed oil with no vitamin E and see how it works. But as far as the Aura Cacia brand, while it was moisturizing (overly so), it clogged my pores to the extreme and I didn’t notice any diminished acne scarring, which was the sole purpose I purchased it.

Love this stuff! I have combination skin and so I only use this on the driest areas of my face and chest. It is an excellent gentle but effective moisturizer, especially good for dry, aging and sun damaged skin. I like to use it as an after sun moisturizer – I find it very soothing for sun and wind burned skin. I cannot use this on my whole face or I will break out, but that’s pretty much universal for me with any face oil/moisturizer. I love how silky this feels on the skin; it soaks in quickly and is not overly heavy. I love the pump dispenser with this packaging also. Am about to use up my first bottle and will most definitely repurchase.

I purchased this because I have many Aura Cacia essential oils and massage oils that I love and I’ve read so many great reviews on Rosehip Oil. I haven’t tried any other Rosehip Oils by other brands, so I don’t have much for comparison. But this particular kind was so oily that it would just sit on my skin and wouldn’t soak in for up to 8 hours. Even diluted with jojoba oil (which I use as face moisturizer by itself and dries to a nice matte finish within an hour), it left my face shiny (and I have pretty dry skin in the winter). It strangely dried my skin out too even though it stayed shiny and oily. I noticed parts of my cheeks all wrinkled and dry after it was washed off or in the morning after most of it probably got wiped off by my pillow. I tried it for a week to really give it a chance, but I’m not impressed at all. I think that maybe the percentage of vitamin E added to this is the culprit. Anything with added vitamin E works great on the rest of my body, but not my face. It clogs my pores. I’m thinking of maybe trying a different brand with nothing added to it. In the meantime, I’m really liking the Aura Cacia Jojoba Oil. I wash my face with Fresh Soy Cleanser and then apply a good 5 drops of the Jojoba Oil while my face is still damp. Morning and night. And by “drops”, I mean I buy an empty Amber glass bottle with a dropper top to store the oil in. You can get them at most whole food (natural) stores for less than $2. The bottles the Aura Cacia skin oils are sold in are horrible if you’re using them for your face because too much squeezes out at once.

I’m on my fourth bottle and I have been consistently pleased with this particular rosehip seed oil.
I store it in the refrigerator and use it in my facial oil formulations. I make an ounce at a time and fill it up accordingly:
1/3 rosehip seed oil
1/3 sweet almond oil
1/6 cranberry seed oil
1/6 meadowfoam seed oil
— leaving just a bit of room a the top for some essential oils
This blend is much more stable than pure rosehip seed oil, so I can keep this in my bathroom and it lasts a few months. I use it 2-3 times a day, about 4-6 drops for my neck and face. It does not break me out, but hydrates, softens and smoothes my skin.
Rosehip seed oil has been very helpful in healing blemishes and preventing dark marks. It does not contain vitamin C, as many believe, but does contain a form of vitamin A that is helpful in softening skin and preventing wrinkles. Despite the fact that many of the claims out there about rosehip seed oil are untrue, it is still a very nourishing and moisturizing oil that absorbs well into the skin.

***EDIT 8/16/2014***
Unfortunately the oil made me break out in tiny rash like pimples on my cheek bones. Very annoying and frustrating since they are red. I will discontinue using it. It’s strange how it works for some and does not work for others. I will stick with Jojoba oil and Emu Oil.
——-
I just recently bought this oil with a gift card I had. I decided to give it a try last night and go slow by only applying a bit on my forehead (usually where I am breakout prone). To my surprise I haven’t had a breakout yet. I have noticed that my skin looks very smooth on my forehead, but maybe I’m just imagining things. I’m in my early twenties and I thought that I would start early with oils to keep my skin looking great. I’ve always preferred natural oils to products that are packed with chemicals because I like knowing exactly what I am putting on my skin.
My skin is combination; can get oily in my t-zone and dry right below my hairline and chin. It is also very, very sensitive and breakout prone. I’ve kept my complexion clear with 90% oils.
How I apply:
I use about 5 drops of Jojoba Oil and 1-2 small sprays of the Rosehip Oil. I gently massage the mixed oils on my face.
So far I have no issues with this oil but it IS only my first day post-application. I will update this review after a week.

very good price and very good product. the oil is perfect for dry skin type, it has anti aging properties, vitamin a , b, c, and e. it helps with scarring as well. i love it coz it helps to moisturize my super dry skin so well and it is thick enough. very happy with it. it has a slight smell from the vitamin e. but i get used to it.
