This is the same product known as ‘Whitening Serum’ by L’Occitane in Asia. It has a clean floral/almost soapy fragrance and is a clear very fast absorbing gel. I almost couldn’t tell where I’d applied and where I hadn’t! My 0.03 fl oz (1ml) sachet lasted me 4 uses and sure enough it helped brighten my face nicely. BUT…and this is where I have to be critical…does it brighten much more than say one of ‘Deciem/The Ordinary’s’ Vitamin C serums I used last year? The answer is no. There are only 3 lightening ingredients in here, it’s a very basic, very simple formula and in my opinion – way overpriced! If I’m willing to fork out $80 for 1 fl oz of product, it better have more than just 3 botanicals in it. How about some for skin soothing or moisture retention, or anti-aging? Glycerin scarcely counts…and that’s the only humectant I can find in here! It’s no wonder the product vanishes without a trace, there’s literally nothing in it! Anyone with dry skin will not like this at all, it’s far too lightweight. For oily to normal skin types the light consistency is much more agreeable (even lighter than Clinique’s Jelly) although you will very likely still need to follow up with a moisturizer.
What’s in this fancy packaging is something as simple as, and yes admittedly effective as one of The Ordinary’s serums but at 8 times the price. Sometimes it almost feels like you’re literally paying for the brand name and cute packaging, and nothing more. This right here is one of those instances.
