I’m on my 4th bottle of this stuff in the last 2 years – a bottle will last me 6-9 months easily. I love Neal’s Yard products, and whilst I am not a fan of rose scents, I find that the rose products are the best for my skin. I use the oil at night, after cleansing and before bed, and alternate with the Wild Rose Beauty Balm. I find it absorbs quickly and easily and doesn’t leave my skin greasy. I have combination skin prone to breakouts around my period and this helps to balance and reduce those breakouts. The scent is quite heavy on the Turkish Delight, but not too overpowering. I preferred the packaging when they didn’t include the dropper as I found it easier to measure the volume, but the dropper is fine, it’s just a bit annoying trying to put it back in and do it up one handed as your other fingers are full of oil. Also doubles up as a very good cuticle softener. I ignore the best before dates on Neal’s Yard products as I’ve found that as long as you store it out of sunlight and wash your hands before use so you don’t contaminate it, it does not deteriorate noticeably in quality.

Have been using this product on and off for over fifteen years, I use it more in winter than summer, and I use it as a pick me up for my skin. Usually I use it in the morning after using avene spray, I then completely slather my face in it so I look like an oil slick and massage all over and down my neck and leave it on like a treatment, do all my chores (this is usually the weekend or an evening) so it stays on for three to four hours, then I take it off with a muslin cloth and warm water.
I find it very rehydrating/soothing and comforting, I have never used it under a cream or anything because it contains rose wax (listed as cera),
bought in March 2014 the ingredients are on the bottle as listed on Neals Yard website, you will note there is no sunflower seed oil in the product as of the 2014 list of ingredients.
:Vitis vinifera (Grape) seed oil, Corylus avellana (Hazel) nut oil*+, Oenothera biennis (Evening primrose) oil*, Rosa damascena (Rose) flower absolute, Rosa damascena (Rose) flower cera, Pogostemon cablin (Patchouli) oil*, Pelargonium graveolens (Geranium) oil*, Citral, Citronellol, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool.
*Organically produced ingredient. +Nut/seed based ingredient. Natural constituent of essential oils listed. Made with 21% organic ingredients. This is a vegan product.
I would recommend this product as a pick me up for tired/stressed/dry/dehydrated/lack luster skin/ I would not recommend it in cases when your skin is acting up and being really sensitive wait until it has healed because of the essential oil content, any dermo will tell you that essential oils are common irritants for sensitive skin.
Each bottle I have owned has smelt slightly different, obviously due to the batches of essentials oils being different, sometimes I get one where the patchouli smells stronger, other times the rose smells stronger. I presume this is down to growth conditions being different year to year when the essential oils are distilled from the plants/leaves/woods etc…
From reviews on the internet I think this is a bit like marmite, you either love it or hate it, and I love it.

Having got vouchers for a retail store in the UK, I bought the Rose Facial Oil on a whim. I’ve always been really into aromatherapy so i knew the oils were perfect for my skin type – oily, dehydrated, prone to breakouts.
So this arrives on Friday and I was totally bowled over by the smell of rose absolute and geranium both of which I love. Totally relaxing and gorgeous.
Have been using this as a night treatment for the last couple of days and it definitely makes my skin glowy and soft. After a shower, I dry off, spray my face with Avene spring water, pat it in and then 2-3 drops of the rose oil. One thing I noticed as well is that it has significantly normalised my skin sebum production, presumably due to the geranium and patchouli.
The base carrier oils are grapeseed, hazelnut and evening primrose are fine to use for my oily skin- they absorb very well probably since the first two oils are known to be light carrier oils anyway and are v.cheap. Even though it cost £21.50 for a 50ml bottle, I could see this lasting me at least 6 months given that you only need a few drops each time. I’ve even used it as a body oil today (lovely!) and will try it as a bath oil in future.
Neal’s yard products are very good quality albeit dear and the base oils used here are v.cheap and not organic (despite the price tag). Hence I would not repurchase this as I know a few carrier oils which are better for my skin e.g. kukui, watermelon seed and hemp and I will be making my own facial oil using the same ingredients – rose damask absolute, patchouli and geranium.
However with those who cannot be bothered to mix their own oils,I would definitely recommend it.
I have taken a lippy off as it came with a screw cap rather than a dropper cap which makes pouring a bit fussy.

I have always used facial oils but sometimes find that they do not always absorb really well and I have experimented with pure rosehip oil such as Trilogy and some lesser known brands, but I find this the very best of all oils and better than pure rosehip. It absorbs much more readily than other brands and seems to penetrate very deeply leaving a real glow to your skin. I use this twice daily and after apply the Frankincense Nourishing Cream which I also give 5 stars and this combinations really works for me. My skins does feel deeply moisturised and some how just plumper but not greasy and it definitely makes a visual difference leaving my face looking firmer. It is great value, I find a bottle lasts me for ages and I have had no problems using the whole bottle which takes me a good 6 – 9 months. Once or twice I have been lead astray by the claims of more commercial brands promising miracles and usually after just a few days of trying any other combination I find my skins loses the hydrated firm look and appears more stressed and dry so now I don’t even bother. I have experimented a lot over the years and I know there is no anti-aging miracle but using a fantastic nourishing product like this on a regular basis, really can make a difference.

I love this product very much. You only need a tiny bit for a rich, top-up moisturiser that successfully saw my skin through the depths of winter. I haven’t used facial oils before. I may start experimenting with making my own up now, as this product is quite expensive but I’m going to be really honest and say that I think the rose essential oils in it make it such a pleasant experience that I don’t mind the fact the base oil is pretty cheap and I don’t think I could make it any cheaper myself. I think the price tag is because of the rose essential oils. Also, I’ve been using it for 6 months now. It states a 3-month shelf life on the packaging but I haven’t noted any derioration in quality and as I am only half way through the bottle will continue to use it.

Lovely. Evened out my blotchy red sensitive skin, gave my face a lovely radiant glow and I haven’t had a breakout in ages. But it’s so expensive!

I put off trying this for ages based on reviews elsewhere bemoaning its patchouli content. I’m glad I decided to give it a whirl, it’s lovely as a night cream or on make-up free days to give skin a glow similar to Clarins’ Beauty Flash Balm and the like.
Gives a deep moisturise and after 3 months of use I do believe it has the effect of plumping out fine lines. I’m not saying it eradicates them, let’s get real nothing can, but it improves the appearance of the lined skin for certain. The mornings after use my under eye area just looks better somehow, and in general this seems to make skin look creamy and smooth.
Would prefer bottle to have a stopper top provided like the Orange Flower Oil does, but otherwise the packaging is fine.
Oh yeah, that patchouli (which although I’m not mad on the scent has soothing, anti-ageing properties and is great for sensitive skin so let’s not complain)…its scent is imperceptible to me, this just smells intensely rosy, sweet, divine.

I use this at night after cleansing. I usually mix it in my palms with a little moisturiser and massage into my face..only a very small amount is needed, so I’d recommend investing in a dropper top, which Neal’s Yard sell seperately! It smells wonderful and I wake up with a more even toned, soft & radiant complexion. Definitely will repurchase this one!

This had been sitting in my medicine cabinet unused for a while whilst I experimented with more expensive moisturisers such as Sisley All day All year.
I’ve been using DDF Glycolic Exfoliating wash recently and whilst it is very effective it has been really drying my skin out – enter Neals Yard Rose Facial Oil…
I applied some on a whim whilst searching for something in my cabinet to get rid of the tightness, and it worked like a dream. My skin felt immediately softened and more comfortable. I applied my make up on top and it looked great, in fact my skin looked lovely and glowing all day.
I’ve now started using this morning and night over a couple of drops of Estee Lauder Night Repair, and it seems to be a winning combination. My skin looks calm, rested and healthy, and my oily T-zone also seems to under control.
Love the soothing scent too. A winner!
PS Only negative is no SPF if using in the day.

What a wonderful product. The smell is simply divine. Its reasonably priced and works a treat and comforting my skin. Wonderful to apply in the evening when watching TV and then leave on overnight. Could not recommend highly enough.
