I purchased both the Obagi-C and the Obagi Nuderm kits. I started with the Nuderm kit only. WOW, NOOOOOOOOOO way!! My whole face turned red and swelled up. I waited 2 weeks and tried the Obagi-C set, that was even WORSE! I do NOT recommend Obagi!!!! I’ve never reacted to anything like this, ever! And both sets?!?!?!?

This is a review of Obagi Nuderm Rx.
“Are you getting younger?” That’s what my husband said last night at dinner. He’d been gone a week. I’d started Nuderm about 3 1/2 weeks ago. I’d noticed some changes, too, but it’s hard to really tell when you see your face every day. Hadn’t noticed any significant lightening of age spots yet, but as a friend who I sent a picture to said, “Your complexion is all peaches and cream!”
To save $: I did not get this through a dermatologist. Last year, I got it via ebay – big mistake. It was clearly counterfeit, as this year, when I got it through a reliable source, the color of one of the products was different, and I also did not notice any benefit last year, even after several months. Lovelyskin.com IS a reputable seller of Obagi – even the Obagi Rx. I know because I emailed Obagi and asked. They assured me that anything Obagi I bought from Lovelyskin – even the Rx – would be authentic. (I think that’s because it is owned by a dermatologist.)
Cleanser – LOVE this. Will be using it from now on, even after I’m done with Nuderm.
Toner – I didn’t use the Obagi one, just my regular cheapy rosewater.
Clear, Exoderm and Blender – used them all. If you want to save more money, I think you can probably switch the Exoderm for any high strength AHA/BHA.
Retin-A – you must use the cream, not the gel, with the Blender. You need a prescription from your doctor – it doesn’t have to be from a dermatologist. Any PCP should be comfortable writing for this. Get a physical prescription, then go online and find a Canadian pharmacy. It is TONS cheaper to have it mailed from one, than to buy in the US.
Moisturizer – I used a Skinceuticals one I love.
Go on YouTube and see how to apply – basically, just a pea size of each.
Peeling – I had very, very little and it still worked for me. I am convinced the reason I had so little was because my face was already used to Retin-A and AHA/BHAs. I would STRONGLY recommend if you decide to use this system, but have never used an AHA or a BHA/ Retin-A, that you start with these first, get your face used to them so that you are no longer peeling, then and only then, do Nuderm Rx.
I did a lot of research into this system before I used it. My plan is to use it yearly for 3 months in the winter (it makes skin photosensitive) and resume my regular routine the rest of the year.
Vitamin C lovers – I will not give up my C for 3 mos! I happen to use Skinceuticals C E Ferrulic and would never be without it. You can insert it in the am in the Nuderm Rx system after toning and before Clear.
Now that I am at the end of the 3 months, I’m happy with the results. My age spots did not go away as I’d hoped, and honestly, I don’t feel they are significantly lighter. I also don’t see any difference in fine lines. But, my PIH, ie red/dark spots from old acne scars are almost gone! Yet, what I like most is that my overall skin tone/quality is quite gorgeous. I can see why some people say they don’t wear foundation anymore (I don’t anyway).
I’m going to try the Tria laser next, to see if I can make a dent (pardon the pun) in my acne scars/fine lines and will write a review when done with the first round.

My name is Lauren, I am 29 and for years I have suffered from terrible adult acne, mainly on my chin and jaw line.
I have spent so much money of potions and lotions over the last 5 years. I have been to see my doctor hundreds of times mainly in tears and have seen a dermatologist on the NHS who just took one look at me and said I had adult acne and there is nothing they can do about it as it is all hormonal. They told me about Ruacutaine but I just didn’t want to take a pill and I am thinking about getting pregnant over the next 12 months so it’s not something I can consider.
My chin was constantly inflamed and I used to get the boil spots which hurt so bad and it affected my confidence so bad. Some days I asked my boss if I could work from home just so no one could see me or my ugly spotty face.
For my birthday I just asked everyone for money because I had decided to do one last treatment in a bid to get better skin and calm my acne. I had read about peels and microdermabrasion so went to Harley Medical to talk to them about that.
They told me about Obagi. It’s not something I had heard about and initially I thought I was being fobbed off because I had to treat myself at home.
The nurse was great and told me she was using it and thought it was the best thing in the world. It was also quite expensive so I was so so worried on spending all this money and it not making a difference.
I went away with information and did my research online. The reviews were good 4/5 on most websites and there was more positive than negative but one lady did say it didn’t work and now she is so embarrassed that she spent all that money. This is was worried me the most. I spoke to my mum and she said give this one last go and if this doesn’t work then you have to stop. So I went for it. I actually told my fella that it cost less than what it did just in case it didn’t work! (I still haven’t told him).
I ordered the Obagi products and HMG went through it with me so I knew what I was doing.
The first month went past quite quickly. There is now getting away from it, it’s does make you go red and it does make you flake. Especially in the problem areas. I was worried at first because a few spots still got through and I thought I’d wasted my money but I pushed through as advised.
I am now coming up to three months and I could not be happier and more confident. I have sent my family this picture with a thank you for giving me the money as this has changed my life. I still get the odd flakey skin mainly around my nose and chin especially when I have make up on. But I haven’t finished the programme yet so I’m hoping it will get even better :-). I haven’t worn makeup for nearly three months apart from on nights out. People have commented on how great my skin looks.
Around my period I might still get the odd spot but it is nothing compared to what I was getting. I have recommended Obagi to all my girl pals who are struggling with adult acne. It has helped ease the spots, reduce the redness/ inflammation and tackled the acne scaring. I am looking forward to going to events like weddings now because I know my skin won’t break out and I did a presentation last week at work and for the first time I didn’t think about my skin!

I am from the UK and purchase the Obagi C RX system for years now and the amount of people I haven’t seen for years and then bump in to the saying how young I look, and that I haven’t aged at all…its amazing. now the only issue I have is that the prices in the UK Are stupid prices and so I order from the states…even though there is a huge shipping charge it still works out at least £80.00 less. the only issue now is that they supplier I got it from seems to have chucked a huge price increase on this and so I am looking for someone to supply me the serum and night cream. the other items such as the wash, day cream and toner I can get at a reasonable price here, it just seems to be the prescription items that are stupid prices…can anyone recommend a supplier in the USA that can help me?
going back the product I experienced the red face, the peeling skin for at least 10 days on using it initially and sometimes it will flair up. however my complexion is amazing for 40 and look and feel like a 25 year old. anyone that is looking to try this then its worth every penny in my eyes and you will feel like a million dollars once the initial red face and skin peeling finishes.
go for it you will not regret it.

This stuff works. I’ve been spending some big chunks of money on tons of skincare serums, treatments, lotions, etc and a whole bunch of foundations to repair (or cover) my lines, wrinkles, sunspots and pores. All these products claimed to brighten and even my complexion, minimize pores and fine lines, and minimize sun spots, etc, blah blah blah. NOTHING worked, ever. Foundation made my skin look WORSE. So I did some online research, read reviews, watched YouTube vids and everything, everytime led me to the Obagi skincare system.
It took me a few days to really think about purching this because it was between $220-$250 just for the travel size. But considering the amount that I have been spending on skincare, and reading and researching about Obagi, I decided to try it out. I purchased the travel set along with a tretonoin 0.5%.
I used everything, including the tretonoin everyday/night. I NEVER skipped a step, and always wore sunscreen or an spf 30 product before heading outside. Its been 4 weeks and 2 day since I began my skin transformation.
WEEK 1:
–Redness! I mean my face was like tomato red.
–Peeling started at day 4.
–Followed by lots more peeling.
WEEK 2:
–Redness and A WHOLE lot more peeling.
WEEK 3:
–Sunspots on my cheek became noticeably lighter.
–My pores have gotten noticeably smaller.
–Redness has subsided, it’s not nearly as red as week 1.
–Still peeling.
WEEK 4 (currently):
–Sunspots on cheeks have gone away. GONE!
–Fine lines and wrinkles are A LOT less noticeable.
–Complexion looks a lot more even and healthy.
–Still a lot of peeling (yay, peeling let’s me know this stuff is working)
–Not so much redness at all.
I am extremely thrilled and happy with my results so far. The most exciting thing for me though is the way my foundation goes on my skin. I tried it today for the first time since I started the Obagi and the foundation went on sooo smoothly and I looked like I had new skin. The way I always wanted the foundations to look on my skin. It didn’t settle or accentuate any pores or fine lines. It just looked amazing. I was beyond thrilled. And I’m excited more than ever now to start wearing my makeup!
To me, Obagi is a life changer and I am so beyond thrilled that I took the chance and decided to try this out. I know the results are different for
everyone. So do research or go to a medspa or a derm. I didn’t get this from a medspa, but from Premierlook.com (Brianna Stanko).
I will do a continuous update as the weeks go on.

The first time i tried this line i was on accutane at the same time which made my face sooo red. So i stopped obagi. A year later i gave obagi another go with retin a without accutane. Much better results. The key to not getting the red face is to mix the blender with retin a and some other night cream or retinol. As you progress, you just use the retin a and blender slowly. I havnt had peeling face from this method, only the results. But my face does get oily from using the night cream with this

I believe in this system, it clearly produces results for a lot of people but sadly not me.(I purchased from a plastic surgeon – not fake online products)
Firstly I’d like to say that it is a bit of a scam that the non-active products (a very basic cleanser, a paraben loaded toner and moisturizer) are outrageously expensive and don’t really have much of a part to play. I really wouldn’t advise purchasing the whole system unless you’ve got cash to burn and like parabens in your skincare.
The magic is caused by the hydoquinone in ‘clear’ which is a skin bleach, the retin A and the blender which boost the effects of both.
I found that my skin did not react to this system at all. I’ve had no redness or peeling from even the strongest strength of retin A. I can use loads of it, twice a day etc it makes no difference. People take years building up to that strength but for me it it causes no irritation.
The hydroquinone has faded my skin so much that I look like a sick ghost. The colour is not even though. The sun spots are still there, there are red patches and it just looks a paler version of before. The texture is not improved, the wrinkles around my eyes are worse and no I’m really pale to boot. I have developed worse circles around my eyes too.
So 4 months after I started it, my skin looks decidedly worse and I’m desperately upset about the amount of money I’ve spent. I’m also feeling humiliated as I did tell a lot of people that I’d splashed out but it was going to be ‘so worth it’. No one has said your skin looks great – I can tell from the tactful silence people are thinking I was a fool to spend so much.
The only thing I can say is the skinscreen is good and the vitamin C serums are AMAZING. Outrageously expensive for what they are though and the rest of the products are so overpriced it’s disgusting.

To use this treatment, you absolutely need to see an aesthetician to advise you while using the products. From the start, ask how to use the products in order and the quantities needed. And perseverance is key. It’s only gonna get worse before it gets better than ever so quitters will never see any good results.
All the worse things like a few weeks of peeling and redness will, in the end, be worth it.
Best time to do the regime in winter.
Overall, I’m very pleased with my skin after years of suffering acne prone skin. Love it!

Starting week two. I have fair skin which tends to be dry from 30 years of Retin A. I can tell this is a winner. Melasma has improved in just a short time. Am used to peeling and drying from dermabrasion but have held off a few nights o the Obagi as my skin was so thin it bled in spots. Slept with a thick coat of Aquafor on and all better. Excited to see how I look in a few weeks. Wondering if I will have same results with eye cream. Am checking MA reviews.

I’m on week 5 of the Obagi NuDerm System. I have suffered from melasma spots since my 20’s. In the past I have used Triluma and found it effective however as with many products once I discontinued use, the melasma came back. My current dermatologist’s philosophy is mitigation which makes sense to me. I asked her about more aggressive treatments like laser resurfacing and chemical peels and she steered me toward the NuDerm system along with prescription tretinion- 0.025%, the lowest dose.
The first couple of days when I began the NuDerm system my face was adapting to the new regimen, nothing too dramatic. The dramatic effects appeared once I introduced the tretinoin. I immediately saw redness, peeling and some itching of the skin. I used the tretinoin every 3rd night. I’ve never considered my skin to be sensitive, but this regimen has brought that consideration into question. I have never suffered from acne until I started using this system. Sure I get the occasional pimple from hormonal influences or too many potato chips, but I’ve been lucky with clear skin my whole life. I tried to increase the frequency of the tretinoin to every other night but my skin revolted in a scream of redness, peeling and even minor bleeding. The skin peeling was a little too dramatic. I cut back my usage of the tretinoin to every 3rd night again and introduced a moisturizer to the regimen which helps sooth the irritated skin.
I know, sounds like a bad review, but you know what? Funny thing is, I am definitely seeing results. The skin turnover is unlike I have ever seen. My pores are smaller, my skin smoother, my dark spots fading. In my experience, redness and acne is the price I pay for less dark spots. I’m hoping as I go through the different phases of this treatment my results continue. I’d be awesome to look in the mirror and have clear even skin.
The skin peeling and redness has definitely made it difficult to utilize my normal makeup routine and I dare not go out into the world with a bare face for fear of scaring little children and getting disparaging looks from adults wondering if I am in possession of a mirror. I have found that the best foundation to cover the ravages of the effects of the NuDerm system is my Koh Gen Do Aqua foundation. It’s light enough where it does not accentuate the dry flakey skin and it treads lightly. I experimented with my favorite bb cream, jane iredale liquid minerals foundation, guerlain lingerie de peau, and my Iope cushion bb compact and have found that the Koh Gen Do works the best.
I am looking forward to better skin and I believe the Obagi NuDerm System will get me there even if painful and somewhat unsightly. Will update when I’ve gone through the whole cycle.
Update as of 6/10/2014: finished a round of the Obagi NuDerm System. The results are satisfactory. Freckles are gone, melasma considerably faded. Can’t say it did much for fine lines or wrinkles, but that was not a major concern for me. I had better results with Triluma, but my skin was younger then. Now I’m on to a regimen to stave off the reccurance of hyperpigmentation.
