I have sensitive skin with rosacea and react to many topical ingredients. NiacinamIde reduces my sensitivities, presumably by improving the barrier function of my skin, and makes my pores appear smaller. I use other serums and moisturizers that contain niacinamide on and off, and want to have a dedicated niacinamide serum to use when other products I’m using do not include it and/or to boost the amount of niacinamide I’m applying. Paula’s Choice Niacinamide Booster worked well for me but includes soy derivatives that I now avoid. The Ordinary’s Niacinamide + Zinc serum and several others I’ve tried break me out, dry out my skin, or just don’t seem to do anything. Many niacinamide products contain propylene glycol which is one of my worst rosacea triggers. This is a lightweight 10% niacinamide serum that comes in an opaque dropper bottle. It’s very cheap ($6), fragrance-free with minimal other ingredients, somewhat moisturizing, and actually works; the effect on pores was quickly apparent. I have reacted badly in the past to many products that contain dipropylene glycol so my fingers are crossed.

I usually love the efficacy and value of MUAC products but this serum is underwhelming. I only use it once a day at night because my reading suggests not to apply with Vitamin C serum which is my morning active.
One of the best things about this serum is that it contains no silicone oils, e.g., dimethicone which are cheap, ubiquitous and cause acne for me. So that is good, but not enough for me to justify the expense when I’ve not seen much improvement. When this is done, I’ll try a 10% concentration from a competitor.
Lastly, perhaps mine is defective but this tends to spurt from the airless packaging and end up off the target area. Not good at this price point.

One of the worst products I have ever used on my skin. I have sensitive acne prone skin with rosacea. After using around a week my face broke out so horrible. I’m having a hard time clearing it up now. I regret ever trying it. Ive never had a product break me out so bad 🙁

To clarify, this review is for the BelleEvolve Niacinamide Serum available on MUAC’s website. This serum contains a 5% concentration of niacinamide (also known as vitamin B3).
It’s a great serum. Soothing and hydrating – especially underneath a good moisturiser. It’s one of those rare products that I will buy again and again. I’m surprised some reviews on the product page on the MUAC site report irritation – this serum is so soothing to me.
Apparently niacinimide serum can help balance oily skin and assist with acne scarring (including redness and PIH). I haven’t been able to attribute this serum to such improvements in my skin … That said, I only just became aware that this serum claims to do that … and my skin has improved dramatically over the last year, 6 months and 3 months … but I’ve only used this 1-3 times per week for the last few months. So, perhaps it deserves some of the credit for my improved skin, perhaps it doesn’t. I’ll now be using this more frequently and paying looking for any changes to the frequency and/or severity of my breakouts (which are few and minor anyway), and facial redness and PIH (which, despite the progress I’ve made with my skin in recent months, is still a problem).

Meh.
I love Makeup Artist’s Choice peels – the Radiance Peel has single-handedly improved my skin soooo much! I have tried some of their other products because of their generously-sized, low-priced samples but I haven’t yet found anything besides their peels that has been very impressive.
This serum is clear and thin like water, I used a cotton round to apply it to my face after washing. My complexion is not entirely even and I get redness around my nose a little. I have issues with occasional acne still, and I’m in my mid-40s so I’m concerned about holding off those wrinkles. While this serum didn’t cause any issues for me, I didn’t see a difference really. I only had the sample size, but it was enough to use once a day for over a month. The regular size is a little pricey, so I won’t be repurchasing.

I bought this sample size recently, along with a number of others from MUAC. The sample program is AMAZING. I get to try a number of different products all at once without spending a ridiculous amount of money. they ALSO send you a free sample with your order of something that you didn’t order originally. This is my favorite part. I’ve found a lot of solid products that way.
Anyway, I really, really love this serum. I put it on at night and in the morning, my redness is basically gone. I have SUPER reactive skin- just touching my face turns it red, but this honestly seems to be help solving that issue. I think it also has to do with the combination of peels (also from MUAC) that I have been doing, but this serum seemed to push it over the top. My skin has yet to get irritated or dried out with this product, but i do follow the directions and do not use it will any other drying agents. i do also use Hyaluronic serums, and those have been amazing, too.
I have really, really picky skin, but so far this is great. The sample is only $4 US and it has a number of uses in it- i’ve been only using for a few days, but i find that i am loving this a ton more than the Gly-Luronic acid serum that everyone raves about. I highly recommend the product, but everyone’s skin is different- i just get really, really happy when i find a product that does dry or break me out. Plus it seems to actually work.

I’ve been looking for a niacinamide serum for awhile and purchased a sample of this one because of the great reviews here. This is a new-ish product released in 2015 so I was very surprised when I could not find it on their site. I contacted MUAC and they told me that they were reformulating this product because customers reported that it caused irritation. WTF. Don’t they test their new products on volunteers to make sure this doesn’t happen? Despite that, I was desperate and convinced I needed a niacinamide serum and ordered a sample of the reformulated version when it became available.
I’m of mixed feelings about their sampling program. On one hand, I’m glad to not have to go through the process of returning a product. On the other hand, I’m unhappy about having to pay for samples/shipping that are tiny that most companies give for free.
I do not recommend this product. They may have solved the problem of it causing irritation but it caused me to break out. Like seriously break out that stopping using it didn’t clear up my skin. I had to buy benzoyl peroxide! I bought it because I have some slight redness and read that niacinamide can reduce redness. My day cream doesn’t have niacinamide in it so I used this serum under it. I didn’t see any reduction in redness even though when I use my night cream that has niacinamide as like the 4th ingredient, it reduces redness almost immediately.
In terms of packaging, I think that the full-sized product is a nice pump but the sample is a tiny vial that makes it difficult to pour out the right amount. I paid $4 for a 2 gram (1/8 ounce) sample and $7.15 for shipping.

This 5% niacinamide serum is thin and clear like a toner and absorbs right into the skin once applied leaving no residue on the skin. I use this at night 10 minutes before tretinoin 0.1% cream and it doesn’t interfere with the effect of tretinoin (which I need for its anti-acne action). TBH, I haven’t seen any results on better hydration nor redness reduction yet, but it doesn’t break me out so that’s a plus. The smell is pleasant and sweet and definitely fades away within 5 minutes, so that’s not a problem. I will update on how it is working after I have used it for longer. Finger crossed for it to be a HG material. ^ ^

I started using MUAC’s Niacinamide Serum approximately one month ago. The reason I decided to try this is because I developed papulopustular rosacea. Sounds hideous? Well it is and is mainly on my chin and between my eyebrows although there are a few rogue lesions that show up in other places.I have tried just about everything over the last two years which includes azaleiac cream, spot treatment with benzoyl peroxide, generic accutane and doxycycline to name just a few. Due to my age, I also need something that is helpful for anti aging and won’t dry my skin out. You ladies know you can’t expect miracles and results in a few days so give it some time. This is a serum that sinks into your skin almost immediately. There is no slip or greasy feel to it. I use it twice a day. As with any serum it’s best to give it at least ten minutes to sink in before adding additional products. It doesn’t take much to get your entire face covered. In one month I can say it is slowly clearing up my stubborn and gross rosacea and at the same time my face isn’t dry and peeling like using the other products. Makeup Artist’s Choice is really a wonderful company. I’ve been a customer for years. There is a ton of science that goes in to their products and they give you a thorough run down on the ingredients and what they do. Their prices are reasonable and you can order sample sizes to try if you don’t want to commit to a full size at first.

I’ve used about 1 week and can totally see a difference in the tone and texture of my skin. I use every other day between Retin A use. I may have to increase my use and I can’t wait to see what my skin looks like after using this longer. Will definitely buy again.

I love CeraVe PM and have had great results with Niacinamide or Vitamin B3. So when I saw this on MUAC’s site I knew I had to try it. It’s supposed to work for acne and anti aging and since I’m 35 no wrinkles yet but some stubborn monthly spots I said let me try this. Since its a vitamin it offers many skin benefits such as skin discoloration, elastisity, and protecting and rebuilding the skin barrier I definitely wanted to try this. So far so good when I started this I had 3 really bad spots from having a reaction to biotin. Plus I’m all about wrinkle prevention so I thought this serum would be a good fit for me. What really got me is how this is supposed to work on PIH and after a spot leaves it leaves its mark for so long whether I pick or not. So this is why I really wanted this serum as my skin is always blotchy or has a left over red mark.
It says to use this 2x’s a day and I use it after the Blemish Buster toner or after my Thayers Rose toner. This goes on so easy and you only need the smallest amount. It has red alge and hyaluronic acid so it goes on really nice and absorbs right in. I did feel a slight warming sensation but nothing that would make me stop using it. I have noticed a difference after 2 uses. My spots are now flat and not that super red colour they always turn. They look light pink and are very easy to cover now till it fully heals. This stuff is great under mu too! Each day I use it the spots are getting lighter and lighter. Besides the 3 spots my skin looks amazing! It’s even toned and my acne scars are going away so much faster.
The tone and texture of my skin is so much better its smooth and so even. Once these spots heal I would not really need foundation or concealer at all. My combo skin is much more balanced it definitely for me is reducing how much oil I produce. I barely need to blot when wearing makeup and that makes me very happy. My pores are clean and you can barely see them since I have been using this. Also my skin feels properly hydrated which has always been a struggle for me. I’m so happy I purchased this and would buy it again in a heartbeat. I got the 1 ounce size but I’m getting the 1.7 next time as this is something I don’t want to go without. My main issue is redness and when my spots heal the red they leave behind. This has cut the healing time in half. My skin looks so clear not all red and blotchy. This also helps I read with Cerimides and free fatty acids in the skin so I’ll take it.
I wash with their DMAE cleanser tone then I use this and there Lac Luronic serum as well. My skin has had no issues with the Niacinamide it works for me and I’m so happy I found this product! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to fight wrinkles and acne together as that’s what the product is intended to do. I’m very happy with this company honestly it’s given me my skin back. Their peels and serums have been the best thing I could ever get for my skin. It works and especially for what I need it for the PIH. I’m so stoked with this product and would recommend others to try it as well. Really great product. Love!
