I just reviewed my first love, botox; now my new love- Dysport! Very similar line smoothing abilities as Botox but Dysport is the winner IMO.
It shows an effect sllighty sooner (2-3 days to start showing on me, 5 days full effect. Botox is 1-2 days behind). It seems to last a little bit longer, and i was told it spreads further from injection site than Botox – for me this has seemed to leave a more natural but better look.

I have had some good results with dysport. I got Botox first when I was 24 for a vertical wrinkle that was starting to form between my brows, likely from my very difficult teenage years which included the birth of my daughter at age 18 and an abusive relationship full of arguing and crying with her father. I left the relationship but was left with an angry look on my face: raised currugators and a slight indented wrinkle. The Botox seemed to not work very well. Lasted about 2 weeks. I had 25 units at that time. I believe I was likely ripped off in some way by that clinic because 25 units is quite a bit! I stopped doing it due to my experience but when I was 25 I just couldn’t handle looking angry like I did. I went to a different spa with an RN as my injector and chose dysport instead. Worked really well for me but I never got results lasting longer than 2 months. My last treatment at the age of 28 (I was getting it every 3-4 months since age 25, using 25 units in gabellar area) it only lasted a month and I noticed my brows have dropped and even after it wearing off they are still lower. I chose a different spa again and chose xeomin as I assumed I was maybe resistant to dysport at this point. I am now 29 and look better than ever! The xeomin seems to last longest for me. My current injector knows just what she is doing. I told her my concerns and she gave me a brow lift and 15 units in my frontalis muscle. It works better than 25 units of Botox ever did. I get it done about every 4 to 5 months, typically in July, then early December, then again in March/early April. Honestly it works better than any sort of anti aging cream you just won’t see the results with the creams. I look like I am 19 my mom says. 10 years younger than my actual age. Fantastic treatment but expensive . I think people should give each of the types a try before settling on one. I believe the different types react and work differently for each person.

I much prefer Dysport to Botox. Botox left me with a very ‘heavy’ (and for me very uncomfortable) feeling for an extended period of time, while Dysport feels entirely natural and flexible. I don’t have lines on my forehead at all, but my eyelids droop horribly and I have one of the eleven lines between my eyes, and a normal amount of crows feet for my age (58). Botox made me feel like Frankenstein. Completely frozen. Even though it looked smooth and even, I hated it. My smile never reached my eyes.
After it wore off completely I had dysport instead. So much better! OMG whatta relief. Same results but much softer. I never felt like my face was frozen, the one eleven between my eyes disappeared, crows feet completely gone (too much so), and my eyebrows were lifted and I had eyelids again. Substantial eyelids, which was my goal. The injection technique for brow/eye lid droop is very different from dealing with lines on the forehead so make sure you discuss what your expectations are, and what your trying to achieve with your injectionist. I cannot stress this enough.
I no longer have them inject my crows feet because my smile never reaches my eyes regardless of whether I use dysport or botox because of the ‘frozen’ effect, and I personally like my smile lines. I think it makes me look more ‘real’ for my age. I do use fillers in the temple and cheek area to help fill them out and make them minimal, but it keeps my smile real.
Please keep in mind that everyone is different and what works for you will be unique. Go to a highly reputable establishment, and TALK to the person actually administering the injections on what you want to achieve.

I will let you know up front I do work for a medical spa that does Botox, Dysport and Xeomin for tox treatments. I have had all three and for me Dysport works the best out of all of these products.
Basically when you get down to it all Toxins are the same Botulism. All the above are just manufactured by different companies and maybe distilled in different suspensions. Toxins are used in the areas of the forehead, frown lines (between the eyes) and crows feet as comedic correction. They can however can be used in other areas such as lip lines around the mouth and armpits to control sweating. Some other areas too. But anything other than the immediate face area above make sure you are going to a certified/qualified cosmetic surgeon. Botox is also being used medically for headaches and testing for other medical issues.
For me Dysport gives more of a natural look (unlike Botox which is very stiff for me) and Xeomin did absolutely nothing in treating my lines. Right now I treat all areas of my forehead, frown lines, crows feet and I also treat a couple of deep lines around my lips. My lips are pretty full so I do not need filler (completely different product) and I find the Dysport does a pretty decent job of treating the issue. Pain wise, that’s individual. How do you handle getting a shot or Novocain at the dentist? Pain is about the same. Around the lips? I won’t kid you it pinches like hell and I have a high tolerance to pain. But needles are short (Same kind a Diabetic would use) and the pinch is quick. I worry more about having a sneeze reaction while she’s administering the tox. The full results take anywhere from 3-10 days and any place worth their salt will ask you to come back in two week to check and make sure you don’t need a booster. As far as a reaction, for MOST people the amount you are getting is so small you are more likely to be allergic to the suspension fluid than the Tox. You need to be up front with any and all of your medical conditions and allergies.
The effects don’t last forever, average is about 90 days. Some get less some only have to treat twice a year. depending on where you go cost is either by cc’s or by area. The best cost for you depends if you are heavy application or light. Look for coupons/specials/groupons etc. BUT as always know your injector. You don’t need a Dr. to administer but they should be NP(Nurse practioner) PA (physican’s associate) or a trained Dr in this area. Read up on the websites for the products make sure the place you are going to give you a consultation to show you results, take medical info etc. It’s a bing bing and you are done procedure but you are getting needles in your face so you need to be wise about it. For me yep love the results and will keep going!

This is the Botox competitor. Same wrinkle zapping effect, but cheaper, longer lasting, and… it kicks in sometimes within 24 hours.
But BEWARE – when the drug manufacturer Medicis lists “headaches” as a possible side effect, what they really mean is a multiple day/skull pounding/give birth to a Greek goddess from your cranium… headache.
My forehead looks amazing, but next time I go back for Dysport I know to what to expect, and to take pain medication.
Some other details to note:
I have added before and after pictures so you can see my results. In the first you can see the deep forehead creases. I also had my “11” lines between my eyes done, they are not that bad, but the esthetician suggested I do this as a preventative measure.
I had my injections done at Urban Dentistry and Laser Spa in Austin. I had a Living Social deal, so I paid $199.00 for my forehead, and then went ahead and threw down another $118.00 for my 11s.
Dysport needles are about the size of acupuncture needles, so the injections are almost painless. There was only one injection that stung. The whole procedure took about 5 minutes, if that. I experienced no bleeding, bruising or swelling at the injection sites, but then again the needles are so tiny, that’s not surprising.
The main difference in my facial expression is that the ends of my eyebrows tend to have movement, while the central part of my forehead and in between my brows is paralyzed. So – I’ve had to learn to keep my upper face relaxed – otherwise I get the dreaded “bat” look. This is because I tend to raise my eyebrows a lot when expressing emotion, and the central paralysis of my upper face has thrown my eyebrows and their arches off kilter somewhat.
Medicis does not offer a “Brilliant Distinctions” program like Allergan, but they do offer a $50.00 rebate for using their product.
I’ve had a great result, and I rated this product very highly, however – I don’t want to recommend or not recommend. The decision to use fillers and Botox/Dysport is a serious and personal decision. Do your research.

I started with my 11’s, but now get most of my forehead done. I like dysport more than botox. I feel it works better for me, lasts longer, and in the end is cheaper because I can go 4 to 5 months between treatment, instead of going every 3 months. The price per treatment is about the same. I do get slightly droopy eyes now that I get more of my forehead done, but I’m not sure if that would have happened with botox anyway. Besides, I have big eyes, a little droopiness doesn’t hurt me! As my doc says, I have nicely placed eyebrows that can tolerate some drop. I much prefer dysport to botox and am glad I switched to it.

I am 37 years old and started Botox in my forehead a little over 2 years ago. First I started with the Procerus muscles (the ones that cause the 11), then eventually I added in the Frontalis (the ones that cause the horizontal forehead lines). In my opinion these toxins are the best preventative treatment there is, given that you don’t overdo it! I have tried Botox and Dysport, and in this review I am going to tell you everything I have learned about both of them.
First let me clear up a myth – Dysport is NOT cheaper than Botox because it takes 2 to 3 units of Dysport to equal 1 unit of Botox. If you have tried Dysport and were unhappy with the results, you were probably given an incorrect dosage. Dysport is cheaper per unit, but in the end the cost is the same.
With Dysport you begin to see effects overnight, and therefore it seems like it lasts longer because it goes into effect more quickly. The reason is that Dysport is a smaller molecule, but this can be a con for some people. Because of the smaller molecule it can travel to other areas more easily. So if you have a tendency toward droopy eyelids this might not be for you.
People with milk allergies will want to stay far away from Dysport, because the molecule contains proteins from cow’s milk.
Botox and Dysport compete for our business by offering rebates. After trying both, I honestly prefer Dysport.
If you are thinking about injectibles, please take the time to educate yourself and go to a reputable practitioner. Another thing you should do is call around – some people charge too much. And always take care of yourself after your appointment, no exercise or laying down for at least 4 hours after. Not because it’s going to stop your lungs from working or anything like that (it would take a massive dose to do that). Moreso because you just spent all this $$ to make yourself more beautiful so why mess it up!
