Sorry to say, but this stuff is crap for my skin and I never found out why because the company didn’t respond to my questions. It produced a bad reaction and made imperfections appear where there were none to begin with. I say ‘imperfections’ because I’m not even sure what they were… I have never had acne that looked like this before… almost like a rash or temporary hyper pigmentation. Weird and worrisome. I stopped using it asap!

I was recommended Metazene 5 when in search for a simple niacinamide product. My criteria was: right percentage of niacinamide (3-5%) this product has 5%, relatively inexpensive ( this product is 2 ounces for $19.95), a lightweight feel (this product is a gel) and minimal ingredients.
Lifelink fits the bill perfectly. It is an easily absorbable, super light weight gel that leaves to residue. I already have a complex skincare routine at the moment, and live in a hot and humid climate — I can’t stand the thought of adding yet another occlusive layer of product to my skin. This product is undetectable right after application so I am very happy.
It contains 5% niacinamide. Niacinamide is anti-inflammatory which helps conditions like rosacea. It is used as an acne treatment and the most important part for me, it is one of only a handful of products that helps melasma/hyperpigmentation.
I bought Olay Regenerist Elixir when I was looking for an affordable source of niacinamide, but unfortunately it clogged me badly. This formula is excellent and doesn’t clog.
The package is an aluminum tube (like the Comptoir Sud Pacifique, but not as pretty) and it has a pump so it is hygienic and dispenses an appropriate amount.
I’ve been using this once a day for a few weeks along with other actives and my pigmentation and congestion issues have improved dramatically.
When I put this on at night, I feel that my face wakes up calm and refreshed.

If you search for niacinamide, you will find many posts suggesting you DIY the formula since it can be a simple concoction. But I don’t want to spend the money, wait for ingredients and proper bottle and end up with a cosmetically unusable product that may or may not be the right percentage, unstable or not have proper preservatives.
I think that for less than $20, and effective and super light way active that actually works is a great value.

I love niacinamide – I previously incorporated this ingredient into my skincare regimen by adding niacinamide powder to Clinique’s Moisture Surge Spray. This improved my skin by leaps and bounds, lessening breakouts, redness, and irritation. So that is one way to do it. Another way, which I also love, is to use this gel, which also contains witch hazel and aloe – excellent skin soothers. I’ve been using this gel for about a month AM and PM, under my metronidazole cream (AM) and Tazorac (PM). Once again, redness, irritation, and breakouts are to a minimum. I really love niacinamide, and this product is an excellent way to incorporate it into your routine. Price, packaging, and results are all great. I will be buying it again.

*The review is for LifeLink Metazene Gel* My skin type: dry, sensitive, acne prone. I’ve been using this serum for about 4 months (just about to use up my first bottle), once a day under my moisturizer. I was a little dubious at first about this niacinamide’s acne fighting abilities, but it’s made a huge difference in my skin. Within 2 weeks my skin was totally clear, and most of the time it still is, so long as I’m good and use this daily. I do still get hormonal breakouts monthly, but they’re not nearly as bad as they used to be, and they go away a lot quicker. The one thing I didn’t expect was how hydrating it is. Honestly I find it much more hydrating than hyaluronic acid serums. When I first started with this I was using Alpha Hydrox Retinol Night ResQ, which is made for dry skin (very moisturising), and even using this once a day in combination with that made my skin a little oily. I ended up having to switch my OTC retinol to another product because it became a real issue, but now that I have my routine worked out I’m really pleased with the results. I will definitely buy this over and over again!

This is a 5% niacinamide gel which is a relatively new way to treat acne. I’ve used this for almost 4 weeks. It’s supposed to reduce redness, inflamation and overall reduce/eliminate acne in 8 weeks for most people. It’s a vitamin B3 gel. I’m not sure it worked that great. It probably helped with some of the redness and reduced old scars a bit in the 4 weeks I’ve been using it, but so far, I still find that I get small breakouts despite using this, nature’s cure tablets, alpha and beta hydroxy washes and lotions and a very neutral face cream (complex 15). I actually decided to make my own mixture by dissolving a couple of niacinamide (500 mg) gel caps in water then mixing with an ounce or two of the complex 15 lotion. (Just open the b3 caps and pour the powder into less than an ounce of warm pure water… it doesn’t fully dissolve, but does dissolve a bit….then mix it into the lotion) This mixture has worked 10 times as well as the metazene gel and it’s dirt cheap to make, so I think I will continue using this. Metazene may work, but it’s only fair in my opinion. Not the amazing cure we always hope for.
