For those of you looking for the lightest of the light moisturizer then this is for you. It feels as if you’re just rubbing water on your face. Provides a great dose of hydration without leaving any residue or layer after it sinks into your skin. If you’re very dry, then I’m not sure if this if for you, but if you’re combination-oily or even just slightly dry and in need of a moisturizer almost serum type of product, then I think this product would be great to try out.

The product structurally is somewhat similar to other L’Oreal owned brands’ moisturizers, LRP HyaluB5 Skin Treatment Moisturizer, Biotherm Everplump moisturizer (and Skinceuticals Metacell Renewal B3 and Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate).
Structurally all these moisturizers are built on the same technology and all have the capability to visibly hydrate the skin with lasting effect. They are all built on the very popular and widely used “quick-breaking water gel technology” that is exceptionally popular in Japan and Korea.
The main difference between the moisturizer from Urban Decay and the aforementioned moisturizers is that it contains a blend of lighter glycols (while the others are built on 15% Glycerin). This will result in a much lighter moisturizer.
It contains volatile and non-volatile silicones and a silicone elastomer-blend for a lighter feel and more “blurred” finish. Consequently, the product is a much lighter and is a visibly water-breaking cream/gel compared to the other moisturizers.
The gel “breaks” at application leaving a visible layer of water on the skin that is absorbed immediately, yet not leaving a “watery feel” on the skin, unlike several very light moisturizers. It glides on easily and after absorption, skin is smooth, soft and lastingly hydrated.
It contains Hyaluronic Acid and Souluble Collagen along with Vitamin E. Said to be based on a 1,000-year-old hot spring in Japan. “Water from hot springs is rich in skin-nourishing minerals, and because the water in this formula is also hypotonic—a purer form—it penetrates the skin’s barrier better and becomes absorbed more easily. The result is instant hydration that leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth, and not greasy. Since the gel is low alkaline, it helps to balance out the pH of the complexion.”
Indeed this product does have a higher pH that is welcome by sensitive atopic skin and can be used around the eyes too.
What I really like about this product is that it is exceptionally light, yet skin feels lastingly and continuously hydrated with a very natural finish without any oily residue on the skin.
It is fragrance and colourant-free and –as mentioned earlier- it is suitable for even the most sensitive skin-types.
The product is manufactured in Japan.
I can only highly recommend this no-nonsense moisturizer for all skin types in humid/warmer climate/summer.
