The Blue Tansy mask is life changing, but this is really bad. Irritated my face very badly, made me a greaseball and caused some nasty breakouts. Please sample it (sensitive and acne prone people) before you buy.

Am the only one that feels left out when a highly praised product disappoints. This was just blah for me. It’s light and absorbed fast but nothing impressive and for the price, you definitely want something impressive. Received a travel size in a kit and used it all. Will not buy again.

A lot of people have given this a lot of praise about how it helps control their oil and their acne. I guess I can sorta say the same with my experience of this oil? It’s a rather fast absorbing oil compared to others I’ve tried, which is nice and my acne hasn’t been aggravated by it either. But I don’t know if I can say that this did much for my acne otherwise in terms of preventing it or healing it faster since I use other acne fighting products in my routine. It’s a nice oil that works for me and does its basic job of moisturising, but pretty expensive given the other claims it makes. Lucky Sephora sells a travel size and I highly suggest trying that out before the full size.

i’m so annoyed that this works in calming my skin and evening my skin tone, because i don’t feel like paying for it.
for reference: i have extremely red and ruddy skin that’s VERY reactive and very few things will calm it. i’ve tried everything from marie veronique, to skinceuticals, to skin medica, on down the chain. nothing seems to consistently help the redness.
every time i wear this, my skin is markedly less red. i can’t say much for how moisturizing it is compared to other oils, because i am super acne-prone and try to stay away from oils. i’m not even entirely sure whether this breaks me out or not. but it is significantly calming my skin, so i keep using it. sigh.

I enjoy using face oils in general and when I saw that this was formulated for oily and acne-prone skin, I had to try it. Sadly, it disappointed.
To me, this was a very average facial oil. I found that it moisturised well and didn’t break out my skin, which is good but in my opinion, is the very basic requirement for any facial oil and therefore does not merit any applause. It did absolutely nothing else (no balancing my oily skin, no reducing redness, no acne prevention/remedy, no soothing, no healing), which does not justify its high price point.
The bottle is cute, compact and doesn’t leak. I will definitely be saving this bottle for future use, especially for traveling. However, I also find that the cap somehow tends to tighten even more on its own no matter how I screw it shut originally, so that plus the fact that the bottle is tiny, makes opening it to be a ridiculous struggle. Also, a few months after I bought this, Herbivore released this in a box set with 2 other mini facial oils for the same price that I bought my single bottle of Lapis Oil for. I was a little annoyed and it made me wonder about the true cost of this product if they are able to sell it at such a steep discount.
I’ve had this product on rotation for almost 10 months now and use it around 1-2 times a week, and will probably continue to do so until it’s finished because it’s still reasonably good and I don’t want to waste my money and hate wasting products in general. However, I will not repurchase or recommend.

I’ve bought this oil several times over the last 3 or 4 years and with each use, my opinion has changed and not for the better. When I first bought this oil, I was totally in love with it. The smell is herbal, but doesn’t bother me and the packaging is absolutely lovely. This was the first oil I ever used and, given my oily and occasionally acne-prone skin, I was really impressed with how moisturized it made my skin feel without breaking me out. It did also calm down any redness or irritation that my skin was experiencing. I really enjoyed my first bottle so when I ran out, I bought another one. Meanwhile, I also experimented with other oils and started liking Lapis a little less. And now that I’ve gone through three or four bottles of this stuff, I think it is just okay. I find that while it does moisturize and calm my skin, it doesn’t absorb very well regardless of how many products I layer underneath it, whether it be 3-4 or 1 or even none. It feels like it just sits on my skin, and even if I give it a good 30 minutes to an hour, I still find an annoying layer of oil sitting on top of my skin (and I am a judicious user). Currently, I find myself using other drier oils that leave my skin moisturized without feeling like someone could skate across my face. Recently, I felt like I was just going through the motions, trying to use up my last bottle. But last night, I stared at the small portion of Lapis left and told it it no longer brought me joy and thanked it for its service and down the sink it went. Thank you, Lapis, but now your watch has ended.

I really wanted to love this. Beautiful packaging but this doesn’t help my oily skin, it irritates it and makes me break out more than other oils.

I have been using this at night, since it is much too greasy for the day. I have very fair, sensitive, dry skin. It is prone to redness and irritation. I have fine lines and my pores are evident.
I apply sparingly after my Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity mask, the Prism Exfoliating Glow Potion and the Jasmine Green Tea Balancing toner. It does a acceptable job at moisturizing, but honestly Clinique Turnaround Night Moisturizer was better. The Clinique moisturizer plumped my skin and kept it hydrated well through the day and night, without shine or greasy feel. And without fragrance. This is very greasy. Wreaked havoc on my makeup! Plus it has that herbal, woody, green herbal smell that I don’t particularly savor.
The blue Tansy flower ingredient really helps calm my redness. That truly is the only exceptional thing about it. Probably won’t repurchase.

I wish I didn’t love this stuff as much as I do, but when it’s meant to be… it’s meant to be. This has become a must have for me. First off, my skin is oily/combination, occasionally has a pimple or two, and for the most part not problematic. I do suffer from redness and uneven skintone from past acne problems. This oil is only used at night after I perform every step of my Korean skincare routine. I only need two drops for my entire face and occasionally use a Jade roller to apply this. I have read so many conflicting articles about when oil should be applied. Some people say before moisturizer so that it locks everything in, and some have said it should be the very last step after everything. I’ve tried this both ways and I personally like putting the oil on before the moisturizer better. This oil is not heavy at all, and when I put it on last after my heavy moisturizer, it doesn’t sink in as well because there is no barrier that has been placed on top. If you want to seal the deal with something heavy, go ahead and use this oil before that moisturizer. I only use this oil at night!
For those of you sensitive to smell, I am not sure this will be pleasant. It smells kind of weird and nothing like I’ve ever smelled before. Apparently, the blue color is natural and there are no additives. This is supposed to not only balance the moisture on your skin, but it is meant to reduce redness and blemishes. It’s exactly what I am looking for in a facial oil, but is extremely pricey at $72 for 1.7 fluid ounces. I take a very long time to go through an entire bottle of oil, so maybe it is worth it because my skin really likes this stuff. I already see improvements after a few weeks of usage. My skin isn’t as red, has no acne, and looks elastic and nourished. For those of you worrying about it causing excess oil, I find that when I properly moisturize my skin, it produces less oil.
Overall, it’s absolutely worth the price tag for the benefits and the joy it gives me. It’s a real treat to use.

Using for only 2.5 weeks but so far I love it. My skin does not react in redness or breakouts to this. Was very nervous about the coconut oil. I find my acne prone skin has been calmer and breakouts are not as severe! It moisturizes well, I don’t use additional moisturizer. My skin is smooth but not oily.
I’ll try to update in a few months.
