Not been reviewed on MUA so far, despite ‘Heaven by Deborah Mitchell’ being pretty huge in Europe and other parts of the world. This was another one I picked up in full size at the London beauty expo – in fact I picked up 2 bottles as the show offer was fantastic! In a nutshell this is a glycolic acid exfoliator which you apply on dry skin and then rinse off. As your skin gets used to the effect and builds up a tolerance you increase the duration you massage into your skin until you feel that tingle again (an indication of it working).
It’s very basic – only 7 ingredients of which water and Aloe Vera are the first two, followed by Glycolic acid. So yes the concentration of AHA is good although far from professional level. Personally I went from applying for 10 seconds to 2 minutes in the course of just 2 weeks as the effect quickly wore off.
So what did it do? The bee polish pretty much did what any good scrub or AHA product would have done – it gave me very smooth glass-like skin for 1-2 days and a slightly brighter, more even tone… until all the dead skin built up and I had to use it again. The effect was slightly better than a manual scrub but not significantly so, other than the fact that unlike a scrub it had a flattening effect on blemishes. Truth be told I could probably get a similar effect from a $5 St Ives scrub followed by The Ordinary 10% Niacinamide + Zinc – spot applied on blemishes.
The one downside is the beautiful pink/silver pump bottle starts to flake at the top (the silver area where you press down) after a few weeks of use, exposing the cream-colored acrylic casing undereath (not quite the stunning bathroom showpiece I initially fell in love with). Also I dropped one bottle and the pump broke so I had to bin it, as it’s not one of those you can force open or unscrew.
All in all a good product but slightly expensive for what it is. At full price I probably wouldn’t dip into my purse but if on offer I’d be tempted to buy again simply for the convenience factor of applying and instant results.
