This serum works because it contains Ascorbyl Glucoside.
Ascorbyl glucoside is a derivative of ascorbic acid (AA), also known as vitamin C, can be obtained through diet from plants such as citrus fruits and leafy green vegetables. While ascorbyl glucoside shares many similarities to its precursor form, AA, its structure is less volatile and more favorable to use in skincare formulations.
I used it for about a week once a day and it helped with my skin texture and brightening.
I would definitely repurchase this but it is a bit pricey.
Along with Vitamin C, it contains a lot of good ingredients but silicones as well.

This product is full of silicones. The effect is there but honestly at this price point there are so many better products out there. Estee Lauder does not have great serums overall, it is either really good or bad. And my previous experience with two Estee Lauder serums have been bad. If there is one serum youd wana pick up, get the advanced night repair. It is great for oily, acne prone and sensitive skin. Just give it a go.

*touchwood* I have been using it every night before my Clinique Moisture Surge for few weeks and noticed improvement in skin texture. My complexion becomes a bit brighter as well. So far so good.
PROS: pump dispenser, suitable for even extra oily skin like mine, non-comedogenic so far
CONS: can be a bit pricey

I purchased this and the Enlighten moisturizer cream for my post acne dark spots. I have been using this and the cream daily for about 4 weeks now. I am already seeing my spots lighten. Enlightening and brightening products take 4-12 weeks to see any results and this is with daily use. Keep that in mind when reading these reviews. Many people don’t see results right away and give it a bad review but this product is great. I feel like it also helps keep my face clear from acne and my makeup goes on a lot smoother. I would recommend to anyone wanting to lighten dark spots.

I received a sample of this from Sephora kind of like a tiny version of the big bottle. I have had the sample for about a year and I love it so much, I only apply it at night as it is a night serum and I’m always in shock every morning I wake up and see a difference. I have red and dark spots in my cheeks from acne scaring, and it’s helped so much! I know as soon as I finish my sample I will be very sad. I just looked up the proving for this which does seem expensive to me but at the same time it is a high end brand, but it is well worth it! And would last a very long time! You usually don’t need to use a lot when it comes to serums and I only use about a penny size if that and that’s all I need. I’m definitely buying one once my sample runs out, I might buy before hand so I’ll have it ready for me when my sample does run out! It’s become a holy grail product for me. And I know I’ll always buy it anytime I run out!

I don’t think this did anything for me.
I’m nearing the end of the bottle, and I won’t be repurchasing. I’ll stick with ANR (or maybe try Perfectionist) if I’m going for an EL serum.
It feels pleasant and my skin looks nice when I apply it, but I could say that about lots of other serums, too. The Idealist serum gives a more immediate visual impact (of course, it’s got the shimmer thing happeneing.) I didn’t see any long-term effects or improvement overall in skin tone or discolorations while using this product. EL has some great serums, but this isn’t the one for me.

Every time I use this, I wake up with nice glowy skin. I haven’t noticed any change on the one dark spot I’ve noticed, but haven’t been using it religiously.

I have been using this for over 2 months and i am already seeing some good results! I have reeeally stubborn dark spots, acne scars, brown freckles, you name it…and after two months of religious use, although still visible, some spots are slowly starting to fade! I use it twice daily in the morning and before bed followed by the matching moisturizer. I love that this product is very gentle on sensitive skin, absorbs quickly, feels light and is non-greasy (smells really nice too!)
Note: if you are impatient, looking for a quick fix solution or need fast results, this serum may not be for you. It will not transform your skin overnight and don’t expect to see drastic improvements right away.
I have learned to stay away from any fast-acting, miracle products because despite how amazing they seem, fast-acting products tend to be really harsh on the skin and may contain ingredients that are actually bad for the skin due to the stronger chemicals/ingredients used to yield those miraculous quick results! So I am okay with the pace things are going right now, there are definitely some improvements but nothing too crazy. Slow and steady wins the race right? 🙂
By the way this serum is not cheap, so I will continue to use the serum day and night until the bottle is finished, hopefully by then the spots will be greatly reduced!
