This product evened out my skin tone instantly , it calmed my redness and I noticed that marks on my face had faded by the next morning .
It feels weightless on skin and is super gentle , I’m happy to use this every day as I can’t tolerate other salicylic acid products well,
Another amazing product that gives instant results from paulas choice
You never disappoint 👌🏻

I’m not sure if I am trying the same product as everyone else, because I LOVED this. I ordered the sample size from the website first and ordered the full size the next day. I wasn’t expecting much since the overall reviews seem very so so. However when I applied this at night after cleansing and toning, before moisturizer, I woke up to having my skin’s texture so much smoother. I feel like it was able to loosen and diminish the many blackheads I have been struggling to rid my face of for weeks in just one use. I think it may be something to be used either a few times a week or maybe every other night. Nightly may be too much and too drying for most. I say it’s worth a try and you can get a sample size first. I personally have had great results.

My skin: dry sensitive flaky
I received this as a free full size gift during the event.
Pros:
– light weight watery
– bha is part of ingredient
– good to use with other rich products or serums
Cons:
– dry not for moisturiZing
– price
– prefer use it around cheeks not around eyes
The product seems like it is made for combination-oily skin people. For dry skin like me, i only can use this 2-3 times a week, not daily. Also do not put this around your eyes because it will dry out.
* If you have rich or thick moisturising products this works well together. Although I have dry skin, some products were too heavy and gave me pimples around hairlines and cheeks. But combining this, i now can use anything even thick oils 🙂
At night I tone my skin after washing and apply this product ( around forhead, cheeks and chins), then apply thick layers of creme type moisturizer. The Skin feels clean and soft next morning.

I bought this without reading reviews here. I am surprised, though, about how many reviews criticize the company and do not share their views about the product specifically. I am looking forward to find help in reviews for understanding if this product is good for me and is worth my money.
I like the serum and especially its light texture. This was my first PC product and I am happy with it. It has such a watery texture and feels very nice to apply it before I apply other products from my routine. I use this under my primer for make-up and it does not make me oily or affect the way I apply foundation – which I appreciate.
I do not think that it does wonders for the skin, but it also did not make me break out or made my skin worse. For an anti-oxidant product, you can not expect the results to show up immediately – so my review is after a short-term use. I might be repurchasing again, but the price is a little high and I have a list of other products to try in my routine. I give it 3 (almost 4) stars, considering the price + the fact that it does not makes huge difference to skin (short-term).

This product hasn’t gotten a lot of love here, but I really enjoy it. I am not usually super susceptible to packaging, but I admit that’s what first attracted me to PC’s Defense line. The bold Lady Danger-esque color looked almost literally delicious to me. What made me pull the trigger, though, was the azelaic acid, an ingredient I’d long been curious about. Plus, I was on the market for a serum.
A little context: I am an adult acne sufferer who also gets a lot of annoying dry patches. Great combination! Makes applying makeup a dream! Anyway, my acne’s been mostly under control for the better part of a year now thanks to the pill, but it’s been almost totally under control since I started using this product last fall. So, too, have the dry patches. With a couple weeks of use, I noticed my skin texture looked both clearer and brighter.
On to the product’s aesthetic qualities: This dispenses like an oil but feels only a bit thicker than water on the skin. It spreads very well and sinks in fast. I get no stickiness. With almost twice daily use, a 30 ml, $31 tube lasted me a couple of months–not bad at all. I have since repurchased and, indeed, subscribed. As mentioned, I like the look of the packaging. More importantly, it works well. IT’s a plastic tube with a screw cap. The actual dispenser is a glass dropper that gives you just the right amount. I can’t say enough good things.
I don’t put a lot of stock in the Defense line’s anti-pollution claims. They seem very gimmicky. But I do know this product works for me.

An underwhelming serum that can’t do what it promises.
Another gimmicky product from Paula’s Choice. I just don’t get it, what happened to Paula Begoun? Why is she creating subpar products like this?
The product has a sticky feel that goes away depending on the humidity of your environment but it does not deliver what it promises. Why is that? Because this product contains 0.5% Salicylic Acid and the rest of the antioxidants come after that. So you’re getting tiny amounts of those.
In clinical studies, active ingredients are always used in high and potent amounts. So why is Paula’s Choice selling this product with such an expensive price tag that has so little of those active ingredients? My guess would be profits.
Also, on Beautypedia, Paula Begoun critizes other companies for promoting an active ingredient but has very little amount in it to actually do anything. Well, this serum is exactly what she is critizing others for.
Please STOP using the slogan Truth in Beauty if you and your company are going to be hyprocrites. I see no truths in what you’re promoting but I see a lot marketing to destroy other companies.
The thing is, at this day and age, the rest of the world is the new cosmetic cop. Everyone can see what you’re doing and no one is liking what they see.

I am so disappointment that people gave high ratings for a product that they will not repurchase or thought that it didn’t work for them or that it was gimmicky.
We should be honest in giving ratings. It seems that these reviewers gave up their power to be slaves to companies for which they will not benefit from unless they’re paid.
I will echo many of the negative reviews that this product will not do anything even after prolonged use. All the major ingredients are in tiny amounts.
And if you’re already using a BHA treatment, adding some more like with this product will only cause irritation. Many dermatologists don’t recommend daily exfoliation, especially strong chemical ones.
Guess who recommends it? People who sell them like Paula’s Choice. Paula Begoun is not a dermatologist, she’s a business person.

NOTE: Be wary of the one star reviews on this product. I’m suspicious of them because a lot of the people giving one star reviews are brand new to Makeupalley and only have one or two reviews up with one star (one of which is for this product) Just saying. It seems odd. Did they create a Makeupalley account to bash this product? Did they even buy it. It’s not even available in some of their countries for crying out loud!
Review: I saw Paula pushing this product on her Instagram page and website and then I saw Wayne Goss do a review on it on his Youtube channel and so I bought it. I like it. It’s light and sinks in. I’m surprised about the claims, but one thing about this brand is that I never have to worry about ingredients, or whether or not my skin will be getting what it needs. Since using Paula’s Choice my skin went from super dry to just normal. When I finish this serum, however, I will not repurchase. I like her Calm serum a lot better and I like using her Super Oxidant serum at night.

A poorly developed product that doesn’t really do anything.
This serum has a light texture but can feel slightly tacky after application. Aside from the negligible moisture, I haven’t noticed any changes on my skin after using it for a while.
Paula’s Choice has strayed from its core philosophy of providing quality products and they’re now focusing on marketing nonsense such as this serum that is supposed to fight pollution and protection against blue light with salicylic acid.
But aren’t all their products with antioxidants supposed to fight pollution? And don’t they have a ton of salicylic acid products with higher percentage that can fight blue light better? What then is this serum really supposed to do? NOTHING!
Remember that people decades ago liked Paula because her products come in high concentration of actives but now, to optimize profits, they just have a sprinkling of these actives. Look at the ingredients list – they have 0.5% salicylic acid and the rest of the actives comes after that ingredient. That’s how much you’re getting.
And it’s NOT using the real azelaic acid, it’s a derivative. Take note that with their 10% Azelaic Acid, it’s already debatable whether it’s going to work or not compared to prescription ones; but this serum not only has a derivative form, it also comes in a super tiny amount.
People and company do change with time especially when profit becomes the foremost goal and banking on Paula’s name that made sense decades ago, they’re creating nonsense products now that just aren’t on par with other quality products out there but they charge you with a hefty price.
To the people reading reviews, please use your judgement. There are reviewers who gave very high rating on this product BUT said that it didn’t really do anything or that they won’t be buying them again. Many reviewers have their own agenda when writing a feedback and many are blinded by the hope that the company and founder that they like a long time ago still exists in the present day.

I bought this despite my better judgement. I’ve been a Paula fan now for years and I don’t think any amount of negative reviews on this website will bring her company down. I mean, come on people, her brand was recently bought out by a huge conglomerate and the only place her company is going is up. There have been zero scandals with her company.
Anyway, on to the review. I bought this because there are no silicones in it, even though I think this is a repeat product like a lot of her products. I’ve strayed from her items before, to use Drunk Elephant, only to regret it. I just thought I’d mention that. Wayne Goss did a video on this item, so I snatched it up. Other than it being silicone free, I will say, I like the resist ultra light serum a lot better. I use that at night and the defense during the day. I haven’t seen any dramatic change in my skin, however, i will say that I’ve been using Paula’s products since 2001 and I’m 40 years old. When I tell people ask me how old I am, they are startled and think “I’m a kid”. I have no brown spots on my face or body and hardly and wrinkles.
My husband likes this serum way better than Resist Ultra light. He says that it’s a lot lighter and he doesn’t like to feel like he “slopped sh*t on his face.”
I think the “defense” claims are asinine, but that won’t deter me from giving this a 5 star review. Her pricing is cheaper than Estee Lauder, DE and other brands and with over 15 years of using her brand, I will say that I am really happy with the results. I always buy when there is a sale and she has sales EVERY DAY now. It’s awesome.
