I received a pack of 12 or so in my 3B Beauty Box. MemeBox sells a pack of 12 pcs for $5. The 100% silk balls are stiff, light, white, thin balls of silk with an opening that fits over your finger. Looks like a cocoon, or hats for your fingers. I soaked the silk ball in warm water for 2 minutes as directed, sticking one of my spatulas into the opening of the ball to weigh it down in the water. I had expected the ball to change texture or something after soaking, but it didn’t look or feel any different. I guess it’s slightly softened.
I was afraid this would damage my skin or break me out, so the first time I tried it, I only focused on my nose, forehead, & chin where I have blackheads, small pores, & slightly bumpy skin. I rubbed the ball rather lightly and not for a super long time. I wasn’t sure what to expect after using it and I was mainly concerned about negative effects. Thankfully, didn’t experience any pimples or redness. The 2nd time I used it, I rubbed with a little more pressure in the same areas and for a longer time. The silk threads actually started to loosen up a little. I went ahead and rubbed the rest of my face lightly, using the sides and the top part of the finger ball. I kept rubbing, then touching my skin. Rubbed the ball again, and touched my skin. I was rather shocked because my skin was getting smoother & softer. I don’t know what made me do it, but I decided to rub the ball on one hand and then one foot. Hand was immediately baby soft.
I was more impressed the 2nd time I did it because I paid closer attention. In the morning, my skin felt even softer and smoother! There was an extra little brightness in the morning as well. I felt like it helped absorb the rest of my skincare lineup that evening for an extra umph in moisture/plumpness. This is something I might even want to use the night before or the morning of a big event. It’s such a unique concept that would surely be an interesting gift for someone who isn’t afraid of trying new things and wants to take care of their skin.
I’m not sure if you are supposed to use multiple balls at one time, but I’ve only been using one ball to exfoliate my entire face and then tossing them. I just read somewhere saying you can actually dry them & re-use, but that doesn’t seem very hygienic. They claim that any residue after use will wash off with water. Perhaps I will try to use a cleansing water and re-use.
Don’t expect it to remove blackheads like a miracle, but it definitely gives your dull & rough skin an immediate radiance & smoothness. Hopefully, over extended use, blackheads will be reduced.
