These are great. The pads are large and you can do not only your face and neck (if your neck can handle it!) but your hands and elbows, too, all with one pad. I find they are beneficial to my elbows and backs of my hands as well as my face. They do sting and tingle a bit for a few minutes but it goes away pretty fast. I think they are effective and softening. 14% AHA is pretty high – at the top of what you will find OTC. I really love the Alpha Hydrox line.

as you may or may not know.. this product is now discontinued. the line is now named simply named “alpha” but the swipes are discontinued. you may be able to find on ebay or drugstore.com. they still carry other products from their line but completely different name and packaging. aside from that info above, these do work well. very mind for me but use 1x weekly. I am 34 with combo skin… bad hormonal acne on chin.. it works well

I really like these swipes and I can definitely tell a difference in the morning after using these at night. I cut circles in half to save money and I feel like I never used up the product by using a whole one.

These pads do what they’re supposed to, they chemically exfoliate with AHAs. My main complaint about them is the texture of the pads – so scratchy! I am using a chemical exfoliator to avoid scratching my skin with grainy scrubs, so these sort of defeat the purpose. However, they do what they claim, they are easy to use, and the packaging is simple. I started using these without building up, and I’ve been using them every night, all night, under a good moisturizer and I haven’t had any extreme irritation other than a little pinkness the first night. My skin is brighter and I am breaking out less. They are just too rough. I will be trying the serum or souffle next.

I got these from the spa where I get facials. Very affordable and I was thinking of alternating with my fabulous Natura Bisse Glyco Extreme Peel to try save some $$, The plan was to use one or two pads per week JUST on my nose and chin – the only places where I have larg(er) pores and rough skin- the rest of my face is smooth, glowing and soft from the Natura Bisse Peel and other products I use. I was instructed to rub one pad on these two areas and rinse off after NO longer than 15 minutes. Although my nose/chin pores actually ARE smaller looking after using this, I left it on too long (no fault of the product) and got some burning sensation and a red bump on my nose. After consulting with the spa, I won’t be buying these again. The Natura Bisse is much better for my skin type (just not my wallet). There is nothing wrong with this product (thus 4* rating) it’s just too “heavy duty” for my sensitive skin (and I didn’t use it right either) so I won’t rebuy. In fact, the spa is refunding me for the purchase but letting me keep the opened jar. So, I will use the remaining swipes just occasionally and WILL use them as directed (duh).

I love these, just like I love almost every product from Alpha Hydrox. It’s simple, straightforward, and to the point.
They are thin little rounds that apply 14% AHA to your face (or anywhere else). They’re not dripping in liquid, nor do they dry out quickly. They are pretty inexpensive and usually in stock at my Ulta. Since all they do is apply AHA, they’re great to use under other treatments, much like a serum.
But they’re a pretty big gun of exfoliation. 14% is a lot and you need to build up to it. I have done so, but even I don’t use these every night. There’s a little stinging. And I don’t RUB because the abrasiveness of these little pads would be way too much. Just PAT PAT PAT. And then smooth it around with my fingers. Gut out the stinging, which doesn’t last longer than 30 seconds. Apply treatment or moisturizer and go to bed!
I’ve bought these before and I’ll buy them again. I might try the serum (sans pads) first, but I’ll always have these on hands.

The price is right, but that was really about it for me.
They are a bit too mild, in my opinion, and so I think you’d really have to use them every single day to really see a difference. I much prefer the ones I used a while back from DCL which are stronger and contained fewer irritants like methylchloroisothiazolinone.

I’ve learned a lot over the past eight months a ive struggled with very very bad hormonal acne. I do have the skin care board on mua to thank for that. I got over my terrible bout of acne through a consistent regimen, bcp, and benzaclin. I now struggle with clogs, hyperpigmentation, and scarring. Since rx retinoids are not tolerable on my sensitive skin, I knew I needed something else exfoliating for my clogs and acne scars. My cell turnover rate is very poor.
As I learned more and more about skin, it became pretty apparent that “scrubs” are not good for acne prone or sensitive skin. I took a chance and ditched the physical exfoliant (scrub) for the chemical (AHA). One of the best decisions I’ve made for my skin. AHAs help with everything for me, except the eye area. My skin is more radiant and the process of healing is much faster with these. I also see many less whiteheads or clogs that come to fruition. At first, however, AHAs definitely can cause purging just like retinoids because they shed layers of skin cells.
I tried cream forms toner forms and this one. They all worked pretty well but I love the delivery of the pads. I’m super conscious about bacteria on my face so I’d rather not use creams or toners with cotton pads for that reason. I also felt that the creams did not soak in.
This can sting for a bit and really should be used on a dry, clean face about 15 to 20 minutes after you wash in order to make sure your skin pH is natural, so it can penetrate. It then really only works for about 30 mins after that until it wears off. You can use this under your moisturizer, although the pads do contain preservatives which could possibly be irritating. In that case wash it off after 30 mins with water and then apply moisturiZer. Of course, only USE AT NIGHT.
Using a good acid on your face can make you photosensitive so make sure you’re buying a good sunscreen. And wearing it the next day. If I don’t wear sunscreen my face gets very red and my scars appear darker.
The packaging is great although I find that the pads can be drenched, so I just squeeze some out. Its much cheaper than other glycolic products. I am on the road to beautiful skin with these swipes and am not looking back. Bought my third jar today.

I was originally going to give this four lippies, but I think I’ve just come to have very high expectations from Alpha Hydrox. Such a great brand!
These pads don’t leave my skin dry, as I had expected them to. Quite the opposite, actually; I’m so glad I don’t have to worry about these making my skin all tight and dry.
I used them every other day before bed, but you could really use them at any point in the day because they don’t make your face red (what a nice surprise!)
And I have to say that they’ve definitely evened out my skin tone, far faster and more than I ever thought possible. It stings for a little after swiping it over your face, but it’s not unbearable and it definitely doesn’t last, so I don’t mind.
The price is kind of annoying but it’s worth it; the packaging could be a bit bigger, I think, because it’s difficult to pinch one out. But these are such trivial complaints c:

Apparently I am allergic to something in the two Alpha Hydrox products that I’ve used–the 14% AHA Swipes and Res-Q cream. The Swipes caused a rash everywhere they were used (back of hands, arms, face, neck & decollete) that only went away when I started taking OTC Zyrtec (antihistamine). I returned that product to Ulta for a refund.
I had also bought Res-Q cream which I’d been applying just to my deepest wrinkles & had had no problems with it until I applied it to my whole face. The next morning I woke up with severe puffiness (think marshmallow), itching, and redness. After one trip to Urgent Care and a prescription of prednisone, I feel better but have decided that Alpha Hydrox products are not for me.
(I don’t normally have sensitive skin, but there must be something in these products that I am highly allergic to.)
