AHC is a Korean brand that seems to be well known for its eye creams and treatments. I generally like using eye masks cool from the fridge in the morning, but those patches usually come in bigger 30X uses jars, which are not always convenient to carry for short business trips. The AHC BLACK eye mask are pretty expensive, in the sense that what you pay for your typical K-beauty jar of 30 patches, you pay for a small, slick box of just 5 patches. But, hey, beggars can`t be choosers, the small compact pack was great for my needs, plus even at the hike in price these are still way more reasonable than your Western brand eye patches. They claim to hydrate and illuminate the under eye area, and the list of ingredients contains a few such things that would do that, like niacinamide, glycerin, and licorice root extract. The problem is that the ingredient list is too long and full of other unnecessary botanical extracts, with no proven track record of skin benefits, except if you like your skincare line to sound like a bloody fruit salad. The citrus extracts are particularly worrisome, because citrus is a well known skin irritant. There`s also castor oil, which can cause some awful allergic reactions, as well as the worst culprit of all, FRAGRANCE. The mask themselves are very soft, like a black silky sheet mask material which is really well soaked in serum. The masks are quite big, so they cover a bit of your forehead and a large part of the skin around the eyes. There is also a flap for the eye lids, so to take advantage of that. you should apply this mask while you lie down for 15-20 minutes and relax. I would love this product, as I find it very relaxing and soothing to use, but the fragrance is far too strong, imo, and also I noticed an annoying itch after 4-5 minutes, as if my eyes are rejecting something in the concoction. I would love to repurchase if AHC removed the superfluous botanical extracts, the castor oil and the fragrance. Otherwise, no thanks.
