   Love the opal, hate this serum. This stuff burns my eyes like nobody’s business. It stings. I used the same product years ago when the opal came out and it wasn’t as irritating. Since they changed the packaging a few years ago it now burns.

   Before i start the review i need to say that i did not use this serum with Opal system. I received a full size pump bottle as a gift a while back and according to the instructionséreviews the serum can be used separately. It might be important to mention that i layered it under a regular eye cream (Skinceuticals or StriVectin)
   I have been using this for about 3 months and sadly i have to say that the hype, quality and ease of use are subpar to say the least 🙁 I am not even sure why my expectations were kind of high but regardless i was disappointed with the results.
   The texture of the serum is typical of a gel liquid and the consistency is smooth and non-sticky…initially at least! It feels very cooling and there is no irritation around the eye with regular use. Basically it sounds ideal and very promising so far anyways. Well something happens to it once i apply it under the eye – no matter how much i massage or tap, the gel never really sinks in and becomes incredibly sticky 🙁 I dont understand how it starts off smooth but then on the skin the texture transforms and almost glues my eyes shut…Not to mention that the texture makes it necessary to wait 10-15 minutes before applying eye cream – i dont always have that kind of time! I would even forgive that if it produced some kind of results but after all this time – nothing!!! Maybe the Opal is required for that but judging by the quality of this product i am not about to spend $150 for a system that may or may not work.
   I love my MIA and use it often but Clarisonic skincare has a long ways to go before i invest in any of it. Drugstore brands can do better than this!

   My husband bought me the OPAL this past Christmas, and of course, I started using it immediately!( I also have the Clarisonic and the Sonicare toothbrush) The concept of the “tool” is a little strange, and the price is way too high especially for the refills! Anyway, I have been using it since December 25th, 2010, every night, to improve my crows feet and loss of elasticity around the outer corner of my eyelids. It does make the eye area slightly red, which is due to the stimulation of the skin, but it disappears within 5 minutes. The gel is nice and absorbs into the skin almost immediately. I have seen my crows feet improve; however, no improvements on the eyelids. It`s been a little over two months and I am still on the first pouch (it came with three serum pouches, which according to my hubby would cost about $100).
   I use it only at night, but the instructions do recommend using it morning and night. Sometimes it does take some time and patience to see a difference! I tell myself that my skin did not age overnight, so it tkes a while to improve as well. Plus it does take about 30 days for skin cells to renew themselves.

   I purchased the Clarisonic Opal with high hopes of 1) moisturizing my eye area and 2) taking a preventive measure against crow’s feet. I have and like both the Clarisonic and the Sonicare toothbrush, so I figured I’d love the Opal. Well…I *did* like the Opal….the serum, not so much. I was so excited when I first got the unit….went ahead, charged it, and proceeded to get the serum ready. Anti-Aging Sea Serum can only be used through the Opal, which made me immediately suspicious, although I bit anyway since it’s certainly possible that it just performs best that way (I found out the hard way that when they tell you to “warm” the cream with your hands for La Mer, they’re not kidding). I was further put off by the graph included in the Opal literature – it states clearly that the Opal can only be utilized on the far outside of eyes, nowhere near lids or the actual undereye area (which is my major problem area – I get undereye circles and puffiness). So much for fixing that problem. However, I figured that it should at least have some good effect so I went ahead and got ready to use. It appeared much like any other light serum when I applied it to the Opal applicator tip – a pale clear yellow gel with no discernible scent. I went ahead and turned the Opal on and applied to my skin, smoothing the excess in with my fingertips. I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t see any kind of an immediate difference….some of the ladies who have used the Opal have had amazing results right away and I was hoping I would be one of them. However, that is certainly not the rule with any skincare product, so I wasn’t put off, and I was pleased with the texture of my skin. It felt more firm and moisturized, and even if there wasn’t an apparent visual difference there was certainly a difference in the way my skin felt. I was sure that visual improvement would come in time, and I would have continued on using the Opal had my boyfriend not asked me what the hell happened to my eyes. There was a red residue that was ALL around my eye orbital where I had applied the serum. I looked disgusting, and there was a clear delineation, and even finger marks, where the serum had been applied. I *barely* used a squeeze of the applicator, and I smoothed in the serum around my eyes where there was excess once the Opal timed off. There is no excuse for that kind of residue – and if it was visible even after a very light application I can’t imagine what a heavy one would look like. The Opal felt wonderful on my skin and I wish it could be used with other skincare products….but since it can’t, I returned it, and thanked my good heavens that I bought it at Sephora. The Opal was great, but not at that price, and certainly not with that horrible serum.
