I love OPI, but this top coat is terrible. First and foremost, it is the consistency of water. Its terrible on regulat, solid nail polish. However, if you do nail art of any kind, do NOT use this top coat. It doesn’t cover the way it should.

I don’t seem to have the issues with this top coat that other reviewers have mentioned; I like it a lot. I usually wait about 5 minutes for my color to dry and then apply 2-3 coats of it (letting it dry a couple of minutes between each coat). It’s dry after about 10 minutes, but I am careful with my nails for at least an hour after. If I need to speed it up I apply a quick dry top coat over it.
It is sooo shiny and protects my polish well. I use it in combination with either a gel base and color, or Revlon colorstay base coat and color.
Four stars because it is expensive.

I bought this at a local discount store; hence the five stars for price. If I purchased it at the regular price, I would give it two stars. This takes a LONG time to dry so I have to devote at least an hour, after doing my manicure, to doing nothing (or very little). Despite the dry time, I give this top coat five stars because when used with the base coat, my manicure lasts an average of five days with no chipping. I’ll continue to buy this top coat because it works for me.

this is a top coat designed for ladies of leisure. Have a full day sitting around doing nothing while paint drys? do you have the bladder of steel that allows you to only use the bathroom once a day? have an army of servants who you can blink at and they will do everything so that you can avoid touching anything while this stuff drys? then this is the top coat for you.
Alternatively, are you a big fan of textured polishes? do you love sheet marks on all your polishes? Is nothing more satisfying than finishing your cream polish manicure, waiting up to two hours for it to dry and then waking up in the morning with all sorts of interesting patterns over your manicure to give texture and interest to your nails? Again, this is the top coat for you.
Its not for me. I have a life, i have a busy life, i am not one of the 1%, i do not have servants and hours during the day to wait for this thing to dry fully. I hate it, and i hate the way it makes even lovely reliable polishes look awful.

I disregarded the reviews and bought it because I absolutely love OPI polishes especially the brush they come with. But I have to say it, this product IS TERRIBLE! I rarely write negative reviews, but this one gets an exception. It never fully sets, so it smudges and I wake up with sheet marks. I have given this topcoat 5 different tries, thinking it must’ve been user error. The last time I tried it was an experiment to make sure it’s the topcoat and not my polish. One hand was painted with 3 coats of polish with no topcoat, the other hand was 2 coats polish, one very thin coat of topcoat. Both sides used the OPI drying drops, then I sat still without touching anything for 4 hours before bed. I woke up the next morning to find the no topcoat side perfect, the topcoat side was smudged on every finger. It’s unequivocally this topcoat. I’m disappointed and surprised that OPI would make and distribute such a sub-par product. Probably going to switch to a gel topcoat from here.

Believe the bad reviews—they’re all true. To be honest, I didn’t. I thought people were just not understanding that this top coat is not fast dry, so they were putting it on wet nails and it naturally wasn’t working. Wrong.
I polished my nails yesterday (2 coats) and let them dry for an hour. They were thoroughly dry; I could tap one nail sharply with another and leave no mark or dent. I applied OPI top coat at noon. I went to bed this morning at 12:30, got up at 6, and there were sheet marks. So this stuff wasn’t dry after more than 12 hours.
Also, there’s no shine. Isn’t that a big part of what people want in a top coat? Instead it looks like I didn’t even use one.
This crap is going right back to Target. It pisses me off that OPI isn’t even trying with this. Clearly they’re capable of making a superior product, and they have to be aware of all the negative reviews. But I guess they don’t give a crap as long as enough people buy it.
I picked up a Wet n Wild topcoat to try and review later. It couldn’t be as bad as this garbage.

I love OPI, but this is not a good topcoat. It has a nice formula and applies easily but my main complaint is that it takes absolutely ages to dry on me – and I’m talking hours and hours. I have used it with many brands of polish including OPI’s own range, Essie, Rimmel, SinfulColors and Essence and no matter which polish or which base coat I pair it with – this top coat is incapable of drying within a reasonable time. For me, this is an incredible waste of money, I was lucky to get it free when buying another OPI polish. Spending $20AUD on this would have been devastating. I love OPI polishes, I love OPI Natural Base Coat and I love OPI Rapid Dry Top Coat but this particular OPI product was, for me, an utter fail. I would not recommend it to anyone.

This was SO important for me to share with you I jumped through the hoops adding it! I have the shine graveyard! OPI, Sally Hansen, Nicole, Revlon…etc….. This is THE find! I’m so mad that I wasted so much time and $$$! I wasn’t going to purchase a brand because a “star” hitched their name to it. Wrong!! This makes the worst polish sing to the heavens. This is the worst top coat I have ever tried. It takes FOREVER to dry and does nothing to extend the life of my mani. The last time I used this I painted my nails around lunchtime. That evening, I noticed that my polish still hadn’t really ‘set,’ and it seemed to be keeping the bottom 2 layers of polish from fully drying / hardening.
Imagine my frustration when I woke up the following morning to find sheet marks all over my nails that had been painted at least 10 hours before I went to bed. Horrible!
Do not recommend under any circumstances. Not even worth it if it’s free.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY THIS!!! I bought this at sally’s with the buy one get the other one free deal and I thought it was a great buy at first. That is of course, until I tried it. I applied the base coat then 2 coats of my nail polish and then the top coat. After about 20 minutes, I looked at my nails and WOWWWW! Not only were they still super wet, but they had tons of little bubbles. It looked like my nails had pimples. It was so gross! Then I though ok maybe i did it wrong (eventhough I didnt shake either bottles at all). So I tried it again a week later with another color and the same thing happened. Eventhough I got one free and really only spent 5 dollars instead of 10, I feel like Sally’s cheated me. They MUST know this happens with these two polishes so that’s why they’re trying to get rid of them. Im definitely going to return BOTH of them and just buying one China Glaze color for my money. Shame on you both Sally’s and Fingerpaints. 🙁

DO NOT BUY THIS !!! Sally’s was having a buy-2-get-one-free for Finger Paints, and since I didn’t see any other colors I really wanted, I figured, well i’m almost out of top coat, lets give this one a try since it’s free anyway. What a mistake! It applies nicely, I prefer thinner top coats. I painted my nails yesterday afternoon. This afternoon I was shocked to find that there were all sorts of scratches and indentations on the nails of the hand I sleep on…but I didn’t go to sleep for at least 6 hours after painting my nails! I knew I had to redo them today so I figured lets see how bad this is…i can press my nail LIGHTLY onto another nail and the polish will come right up! This is a China Glaze polish, and I’ve used them forever, I’ve never had a problem with this particular polish. It’s the top coat. It never dried fully!! It’s been almost 24 hours, what gives?! If I ever use this again, it’ll be for a franken. This top coat SUCKS. Never dries. It isn’t even all that glossy.

FingerPaints Top Coat is a general, high-shine top coat. It dries very shiny and holds up very well with no chipping or peeling at five to six days of wear. The only complaint I have, and the reason I knocked off two lippies, is because it is slightly thick (although not hard to apply) and takes longer to dry than the other top coats that I’ve tried. It also seems to add thickness to the polish layers (which is fine if you’re only doing, say, a base, 1 coat, and a top coat). I normally do a base, three coats color, a top coat (to keep the Seche Vite from shrinking the polish),and then a coat of SV. Using the FingerPaints top coat with my mani regimen adds an extra layer that I don’t really want. So, all in all, while FP is a great Top Coat, I won’t be buying it again because of the slow drying time and thickness of the polish.

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to try out FingerPaints’ Top Coat. I love the polish line itself and always look forward to their seasonal collections. Since I decided to branch out to find refresher/extending wear top coats, I decided to give this one a try since I shop at Sally’s so often.
For those who are concerned about the Big 3 chemicals– this is 3 free despite the ingredients listed on the website. I just peeled back the label to check. It’s shiny and I’ve used it more under my quick drying top coat fave– Orly Sec N Dry– to see how much longer it can make my mani last. I will say this– my manicures sure have been shinier, Sec N Dry was never the shiniest t/c, but it’s my favorite fast drying one. I will also add that it does add to the wear time wonderfully and protects against chips. Like traditional top coats, it’s not quick drying at all. As matter of fact, it does even remain a bit tacky after 15 minutes. Also, when taking it off, I noticed it took me a little longer than usual– I guess that extra added layer of top coat makes a difference. I hadn’t tried it by itself because my lifestyle requires a fast drying topcoat. I had tried it as a refresher over a 2wk old pedi and it did help it last 2 more weeks. Oh, and to add to all the praise here I’m giving it, I had cut my nails on day 3 of a mani while wearing this & I am impressed that even after cutting and filing my nails, nothing peeled or chipped and I went on for 4 more days like that. It would’ve lasted longer except I had time to change my mani so I did.
With all that being said, I’ve tried it over new China Glaze, new Essie & new FingerPaints formula with Orly Sec N Dry and Orly Bonder. It works excellently for me. The rating should be more like a 4.5. I took off 1/2 lippie point because it does dry rather slowly for my preferences. Perhaps I should stop waiting until the end of the night and rushing to do my mani. I will definitely buy again, but could never ever wear it with a CND polish

This is my favourite topcoat, I’ve repurchased over 5 times and although it’s expensive, it beats other brands hands down on performance including Seche Vite. This dries unbelievably fast, doesn’t cause shrinkage, and makes my polish last longer than any other topcoat I’ve used. I can use up the whole bottle unlike Seche Vite which gets gloopy halfway through.

I rely on Seche Vite for emergency quick manicures, but this is the second best thing. Actually, I prefer to use Christian Dior because it doesn’t contain any toluene! But you need to let the nail polish dry more with this than with Seche Vite, or the color transfers onto the wand. Still, if you wait a few minutes after applying polish, the top coat dries quickly with a nice sheen. I have already repurchased, along with Seche Vite.

This is really fast drying, indefinitely smooth and glossy. It doesn’t really thicken either(a teensy, tiny bit, I think, but not so much that you have to thin it). The shine lasts for a long time too, in comparison to other top coats that dulls pretty much within the next day.

I think I’m on a 7th bottle. THE BEST top coat when it comes to drying and application.
I use it for pedicures on all my clients. I pay full price, about $30 and still use it at the salon because it’s worth EVERY PENNY. You can also use it almost to the last drop.
This top coat dries un-believe-ably FAST it’s almost scary! LOL.
Clients freak out that I apply the oil on their toes and do a foot massage like 2 minutes after applying top coat and nothing smudges 🙂
The brush is a little “fat” but once you get used to it you are golden.
You can’t apply any pressure while using it, otherwise you’ll smudge the polish underneath. “Feather” it on with a super light but controlled brush strokes.
Usually when the bottle is half empty or little less I open another bottle and refill the old one with a fresh one 3/4 full. Great little tip for you 🙂
On the hands I use Vinylux Top Coat. A little slower drying but longer lasting.

This…this is THE top coat! Picked it up after reading a bit about it in Glamour magazine. I was really disappointed with seche vite and the shrinkage it caused, no such problems with this one. Dries super super quick, gives a beautiful (but not too over the top) gloss and makes my polish last that bit longer (even my Essie ones, which normally chip after a day or two…). Doesn’t go gloopy halfway through like seche vite. Expensive, but so so worth it. Oh, and I apply this a little after I’ve applied the polish (maybe a minute?), not wet and straight on like with seche vite.

I have gone thru 5 bottles of this already. It is the BEST of the BEST fast dry top coats, HE or DS.
Like others have mentioned, Dior Top Coat has a thin consistancy. It almost looks like water (sorry I can’t find a better comparison). And unlike Seche Vite & Poshé, it stays that way,even if you use it often.It doesn’t bubble or shrink. I use Seche over “top coat eating glitters ” then I use Dior over that as well.
The bottle is great quality too. The packaging is the same as the regular Dior polishes,except the plastic cap (& box) is white,not silver. The brush is good too, which they changed a few years ago from a blunt cut brush to a tapered/rounded one. I usually cut the tapered part because I find it fits my nail shape better. You just have to try it and see if it works for you as is. I’ve reused my empty bottles to franken in and decanted other polishes into them. They are that good.
This is HG for me. I find that it fixes streaks and bubbles quite well. It also helps when used on top of Seche Vite, like it doesn’t cause it to shrink as much. Its like investing in a good quality brush or tool-it makes whatever product you use, HE & DS alike look good, even if its not.

I’m glad that I only have a mini of this. It’s been assigned to toenail use only. It does dry shiny- not as great as Seche or HK Girl, but decent. However, the shine doesn’t last as long as other top coats I have. I can often get away with an entire week of shine if I don’t change it before then. OPI only lasts for a couple days before it looks dull.
It also transfers color no matter how long your polish dried first. Transferring can and does happen, to be far. But usually that can be avoided by waiting a few minutes before applying your top coat. I just applied this over nail polish that I painted on my toes but didn’t get around to top coating about two weeks ago. Color transferred from every single one. I shouldn’t have to wipe my brush clean every time I paint a single nail. Absolutely ridiculous. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
I love OPI polishes but this is no bueno. Such a shame.

Love OPI top coat for its long lasting durability. My nails are thin and bendy or very flexible. This top coat works well for my nails since the topcoat bends with the nail and doesn’t crack. Many quick dry top coats I have tried don’t bend with the nail and I end up with cracks and splits / chips in the nail polish within a day or two of my manicure regardless of the basecoat used or prepping the nail.
When using the OPI top coat I typically allow 10 minutes or so for my last coat of polish to dry and then apply the OPI top coat. I also use drying drops with this top coat. I allow an hour for my manicure to fully cure before doing anything with my hands. I do not use this top coat when in a hurry. I use NYC clear / top coat or Essie gel setter top coat for those purposes. I am not a fan of Seche Vite or top coats like Revlon quick dry – although they give a beautiful finish initially — my manicures crack within a day or two when using top coats that dry very quickly.
This OPI top coat is also excellent for nail maintenance during the week to maintain your manicure or keep it fresh. In this instance I apply the top coat then use drying drops and wait until it dries – no it doesn’t dry quickly even when layering over other polish. This top coat dries shiny, without bubbles when applied correctly, and it is very long lasting (no chips / cracks) which is most important for me. If you are looking for quick dry – this top coat is probably not it.
When my manicurist uses this top coat over a full fresh manicure she brings a fan to my table and the top coat dries within 15 minutes. I leave with no dents or scratches in my polish. Patience in dry time is key with this polish but it’s worth it to me for a week of wear.

This is hitting the trash bin! I love OPI so when I hit a sale on board the cruise ship, I bought this to try it out.
My standard is the flat red bottle of clear Sally Hansen Anti Chip Insta Dry Topcoat. That stuff is a miracle in a bottle. You slide it on, and your mani dries up and hardens to a glossy shine, it smooths out any little imperfections and you are good to go.
This stuff takes FOREVER to dry, and the polish seems to stay soft underneath forever! Yuck. The shine it gave wasn’t anything to write home about either. Not in comparison with the Sally Hansen stuff which is HALF the price. Nor does it do the little smooth out the lumps and bumps and clean up any streaking that the SH product always does.
I even tried it out with the OPI Drip Dry drops that came in an OPI kit I bought on board and nope, the surface was dry but the 2 layers of laquer were still soft underneath.
And I got a chip in my Dulce De Leche polish the very next day. That doesn’t happen when I top DDL with the SH.
