UPDATED REVIEW:
I’ve tried many, many different fast-drying topcoats, and while I like some and hate some, I feel pretty neutral about this one.
I first used this on a manicure with base coat and three coats of jelly polish, and it dried the manicure very well in just a few minutes. The formula is thin and silky and slides over the polish really nicely, and I was happy with the finish, which was smooth and appropriately glossy, and self-levelled well. I’ve also used it over a brightly coloured creme polish, with similar nice application and self-levelling.
I have since worn it on a couple of other occasions, and it’s entirely serviceable, but that’s really about the best I can say for it. I like the shine, it does a pretty good job in the fast drying department, but, being on the thin side, it’s not great for some applications (topcoat-eating glitters, for example).
A big downside for this top coat, unfortunately, is that it picks up colour from the polish really easily. I resorted to wiping the brush on a cotton pad between nails, to keep from contaminating the bottle. I suspect the stiff, vinyl bristle brush has something to do with it (honestly, I’m not mad about the brush, as it’s a little skinny and I don’t really like the bristles). Perhaps with use the brush will soften up a bit, though it will still always be a little skinny for my taste (I might need to decant this top coat to a bottle with a better brush).
Overall, I can say that I liked this top coat at first, but I won’t be getting any more of it when it runs out. Just not impressed with this one.

This is a review of the CND Speedey Daily-Defence Top Coat. I purchased the product at a high-end hair salon and spa in March 2012. I can’t remember the price, but I am sure it was pretty expensive. I never heard of CND before. I generally use OPI or drugstore nail products. Overall, I have to say that this product is nothing special. I won’t buy it again. It has a strong smell similar to cheaper nail polish, which I don’t like it. However, it does provide a really nice shine and dries very quickly. I have had no problems with nail polish chipping, but I usually don’t anyway.

This is entirely too expensive for what it is. At $8.50 I expect a lot from a nail polish, even just a topcoat. What I consider a Top Coat is a product that is supposed to protect your nails and prolong the wear of your polish. The CND Speedy offers absolutely *no* protection for my nails whatsoever. I think this actually decreased the wear time that I usually get out of a normal polish. When I tried to use this as my only top coat, my nails began chipping at the tips that same night. I don’t have particularly long nails at all (they barely meet the tips of my fingers), so it’s not like they take a lot of abuse or anything. But for a top coat to fail so badly that my nails start chipping less than a day after I’ve done them, that’s bad. My $4 Revlon topcoat performs better than that.
The only reason I’ve given this a 2 instead of a 1 is that it really does dry incredibly fast–and dries the polish underneath, as well. I’m talking like 60 seconds or less. So what I’ve taken to doing, just in the interest of using the entire bottle, is using my Revlon Clear Coat first and then swiping this overtop so that my nails will be dry within a minute. That’s really the only thing it’s good for, and it works well at that. But as for buying it again? Definitely not. I’d rather spend the extra few minutes waiting for my nails to dry than shell out $9 for something like this.
Not worth it at all.

I’ve tried tons of top coats before, but this just doesn’t cut it. On the package, it says daily defense, which implies that this is used to freshen up a manicure, and not as the main top coat. I used it after several days of wear over my manicure and it shrunk my polish in a really bad way. This has occurred every time I use it, meaning I’ve tried different nail polish brands and I do not apply thick coats. For the price that you pay for 9.8ml, this is not a great product. One positive thing I would give is that it does dry quickly and gives your nails a nice shine. Would not repurchase again, though I love the brush and bottle.

Speedy is thin and dries polishes fairly fast that are 1 or 2 thin coats. It didn’t work as well or dry as fast with 3 or more coats. It seemed to bubble my nail polish a little bit too and didn’t leave my nails as glossy as Seche Vite does.

I tried CND Speedey (awesome name!) after I had tried Seche Vite.
I like this, it is very thin and easy to spread over your nail.
I do wish that the brush was a teensy bit wider/larger so I don’t have to dip twice for my thumb nails.
It dried a 2-coater in a couple of minutes. It also makes applying polish over the edge of the nail to ‘seal’ the polish quite easy due to the thin/watery consistency.
I will continue using this for 2 coaters and use Seche Vite for polka dots and other nail art that is thicker than 2 coats.

I LOVE this product! It dries SUPER quickly and goes on thin and watery, NOT super thick! I couldn’t live without it for in between coats. For a final top coat though, I use Seche Vite because I find Speedey doesn’t offer the long lasting, healthy, shining thick nail look I desire with a top coat. Speedey is a great product, does just what it’s supposed to do.

I am very happy with this. I spent 1/3 of what those other ones cost, and it works really really well. It dries very quickly and makes the nails look really shiny and healthy. A co-worker asked if I had gotten a manicure!

This did make my manicure dry fast considering I put it over 3 coats of polish, but didn’t do much for the lasting power – my polish chipped off in the shower the next day, same as usual. However, since it’s not called “Lastey”, I can’t really complain. US$3.50 @ 8ty8beauty.com.

I wish I could give this 4.5 lippies. Love this top coat! Sets up very, very fast, indeed and high amount of lasting shine. Promotes a long lasting manicure especially when paired with Stickey base coat.
