Although I prefer automatic eyeliners. I changed this out for a 24/7 just to give it a shot and was pleasantly surprised. The purple color isn’t there as much as I wanted to. I wish colors were a bit different.

Love this! It sharpens my pencils perfectly without breaking them or wasting any product. I’ve been using mine for years now with 0 issues. Totally worth buying.

Love it, my favorite sharpener.

Yeah, $10 is expensive for a pencil sharpener, but this one is totally worth it. It sharpens pencils (thick and thin) SO WELL. There’s no breakage, no weird sharpenings where one side sharpens way down and one side doesn’t. This gives a good sharpen every time. Just twist slowly, and you’ll be thrilled with the results. This is absolutely a case of you get what you pay for.

I lost the (detachable) top of this sharpener but it still works gr8! More than gr8, it is so exceptional. I had so many problems getting NYX JEP (eg Milk), BH Cosmetics concealer pencil (Beige), the Nars lip stick pencils that were bday gifts, MUFE AquaEyes eyeliners, BH Cosmetics lip liners, Ulta Brow Duo pencils, MAC the black pencils, urban decay eyeliners…any plastic pencils & any oversized pencils basically but this will sharpen all pencils & to a very nice point. As mentioned below GO SLOW! Take ur time sharpening turn it slowly & u will get awesome results. The blades are very sharp, not cheap Chinese stuff neither is made in Germany. This little sucker is $10, but I cannot be without mine. I bought it off Sephora.com & I’d rebuy in a heart beat if I lost or broke it simply because the size of pencils that fit in it & cheap sharpeners eat tons of product (I didn’t believe it til I got this for naysayers), so I’m certain & sure I’ve saved $10+ worth of products using this so it’s been a good investment. Invest in a good sharpener, it’s amaze-balls the difference even using it on a cheap pencil like NYC/wnw. If you use pencils you so need this! Until companies start listening & making pencils retractable!! You will not regret this purchase <3

It’s a sharpener, and it works well, but it is outrageously priced.
But this is the ONLY sharpener I have found that gives a nice point on the Urban decay 24/7 liner pencils. I have used the wet n’ wild one, and I also picked up the benefit sharpener. Both leave a very dull tip, and eat up these pencils like crazy.
So if you spent $20 on an UD 24/7 pencil, you need this sharpener. It works best, and gives you a nice point without grinding through the pencil so quickly.
If you don’t use the 24/7 pencils, the other, cheaper, sharpeners I have used work really well on just about everything. (the benefit sharpener fits Nyx jumbo eye pencils, if you are a fan of those)

Best sharpener I’ve ever used. I used to buy those cheapo 1 dollar ones from Wet n’ Wild, thinking why spend the extra money. And they just break my pencils and don’t sharpen that well. I got the Grind House sharpener included in a set of Urban Decay eyeliners, the only way I’d try it since I wouldn’t have spent the money, and WOW. What a difference! I still have mine and I’ve had it for years. It hasn’t broken and it sharpens like a dream! I recommend this to all beauty lovers!

I don’t usually write reviews of pencil sharpeners but I had just bought one from Charlotte Tilbury and I had Grind House and noticed how similar they are side-by-side. I suspect they are made at the same factory. Both are very good and I prefer them to my Revlon sharpener. For awhile I had stopped buying pencils that require sharpening, but lately found several I liked. NARS Rikugien lip crayon was given to me as a gift, and when it became dull, I was back to buying sharpeners again.
I like the purple case and the Old English font of the Urban Decay logo. I also like the clever name Grindhouse (or Grind House; I’ve seen it both ways). I thought $10 was a bit much when I bought it, compared to other sharpeners, but it’s sturdy and sharpens without over-sharpening; it doesn’t wear too much of the pencil down at a time in order to get a point. I’ve had sharpeners that seemed to be eating the pencil too fast. The Tilbury sharpener is equally good, same design as Grind House, same cleaning pick, and it’s $7. I bought the burgundy Tilbury one in my last order and it has her logo on the lid in rose gold. So if you’re not stuck on purple, hers works just as well and it’s slightly cheaper.
Someday when the blades eventually become dull, I’ll repurchase again; I’ve had a few over the years.

I’ve had this sharpener for years and use it for everything ranging from lip liner to eye liner to lip pencils (NARS Velvet Gloss Pencils). It performs very well and I would recommend.

I have a few cheap sharpeners, but after purchasing a few UD 24/7 pencils and being unsatisfied with the sharpening.. I thought I would try their own version out.
I spent some time in Sephora sharpening all their pencils to see if this one sharpens “better” than the ones I have at home, and it definitely did. All my eyeliner pencils have a nice point on them now!
The cover doesn’t fall off easily (spilling all the shavings in your makeup bag ..><), the cardboard packaging is recyclable and the sharpener is pretty compact. I haven't tried out the "large pencil" side, but I'm sure it would work well. Would repurchase (if I lost it).. recommend.
