I have oily skin and most moisturizers make my skin oilier throughout the day. The oil absorbing lotion doesnt make my skin any oiler, but it doesnt absorb oil either like it says. If you need just a little bit of moisture throughout the day, this is good. However if you have oily skin and are looking to control it, I’d try something else.

The product has some very problematic ingredients that raise concern for safety of the skin.
It has 30% alcohol (according to the patent of the product, held by the ELC.). It contains also Aluminum Chlorohydrate. This last ingredient is the main component of antiperspirants/deodorants. Although the amount is under 1% in this product it still raises concern regarding the warnings about the cosmetic products containing aluminum. It contains also other metal-based powders that might be just as problematic as aluminum.
What this product truly lacks in is the addition of a proven substance that have anti-acne effect, like Salicylic acid and the like. (And some beneficial anti-inflammatory ingredients would not have harmed either).
ELC has a much better alternative to this mixture under the Clinique brand Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion (sold Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion in the EU) for a fraction of the price. It is loaded with beneficial anti-inflammatory ingredients and contains 1.5% Salicylic Acid too.

To say that I love this product is an understatement. This product is ah-mazing!
To begin, I have the lucky combo of oily , clogged pores , acne prone and sensitive skin AND I live in a year-long humid and hot climate country.
I used to use clinique toner, but it dried out my face and the alcohol was way too harsh on my skin and left my face red after I applied it.
However this product was surprisingly went well for my sensitive skin, didn’t leave any redness after application, and reduced over 70% oil in my face.
Pro
It works
Did not break me out
Prevents acne
You can see immediate difference after first day of application
Cons

I am on my second bottle and have recom. this product to other 2 friends who have similar skin condition as me, and they love it so far.

this helped reduce the oiliness of my face without drying out my skin which is really good. but i think this will be too drying for others with normal/ dry skin. the alcohol smell is quite strong but tolerable.

this tonic smells, feels and works exactly as clinique’s lotion no.4 ( oily skin formula)..
definitely not worth the money

I use this everyday along with the Oil Absorbing Lotion on my t-zone, and I love it! It has really helped refine my skin and makes my pores so small! Love!

This is my first review 🙂 I have super super oily skin and suffer from blackheads alot and i’m 25 🙁 i have only used this for 3 days and i must say i have noticed a difference. I am not as oily throughout the day and have to still use blotting papers but it has made a difference. I have just purchased the oil absorbing lotion to work with this so i’m hoping this will be make the oil better. I have used every top and bottom line product out there and this is the best toner. If your looking for something a little cheaper but also works well try Elemis balancing toner. Also Estee lauders is quite good. I must say the smell is not the nicest but its not what it smells like its what it does that counts.

The toner has quite strong alcohol smell, and at first i was skeptic on using it because it’s known if you have oily skin, and once you use alcohol products in order to get rid of oil, it will be produced twice as much; however, it didnt happen, after usage, my skin was matt, soft, and very clean, during the day, my oil was really under control, just a little production but i didnt need to “retoner” myself because i dont really wear foundation and i really like to keep my face super clean thats why i “toner” my face couple times a day which makes my skin super clean and healthy. Definitely will purchase the whole size bottle for I’ve been using samples from Nordstrom counter.

This product actually made my skin more oily than normal. It took one use at night for that to happen some hours later. I only used it a couple of times and just had to stop because the effect was just so strong.

The bottle is not nice to use (difficult to control the amount for application). I buy a small spray plastic bottle and only fill up for weekly use.
I dont mind the alcohol smell ( it goes away pretty fast) but it does not help to control my oil sebum discharge. 3 hrs later and my T-zone is all shiny again. I think any other good toner from Clarin or Clinique would do just fine at lower price. I do not recommend this product.
