I am a bit of an acid toner addict. For instance, I’ve gone through literally liters of Glow Tonic. So of course I had to try Retinol Tonic. I’ve now used up my 100 ml (3.4 fl oz, $15) bottle and can say with certainty that it’s a case of like, not love. This is a nice toner, but I’m just not sure it’s doing anything besides, you know, making my face feel a little fresher when I first apply it. I may repurchase to give it another try, but I’ll probably just move on to something else.
Other notes: I love the light lavender fragrance, though I know it isn’t good for me. I also love the lavender bottle with the green cap and label (Pixi has the prettiest products).

I love this toner. I kind of alternate it with Thayer, but not religiously. Lately I’ve been using only this and find that I prefer it. It never burns or tingles. It leaves my skin smooth and calm and definitely minimizes pores and redness. If you are looking for a miracle product just stop right now because that doesn’t exist, so this (or anything else) won’t be it. But it is incredibly nice and works beautifully for my combination (normal /oily) problem free, resilient to aging skin.

I don’t use this as my only retinol treatment; I pair it with the Pixi Collagen and Retinol serum and I only use it at night. (I use rose water witch hazel as my day toner, but I do use the serum morning and night.) It does a good job of supplementing the serum. I find my pores are smaller after use, and it helps the serum absorb better. It’s quite hydrating, and my skin feels quite bouncy and healthy.
I don’t use a cotton pad to apply this. Rather, I pour three drops onto my fingers, pat them all together, and then press it into my skin, focusing mostly on the areas where I see more fine lines. Then I pat the remainder into the rest of my skin, including my neck and a little onto my collarbone area. Then I immediately follow with the serum.
It’s a little pricey for a toner, but if I continue to enjoy it to the end of this bottle, I’ll buy the bigger version, which is a better value. Since I only use a few drops each day, I suspect it’ll last me a while.
The packaging is good for dispensing a small amount, and the lavender-colored liquid with the light green packaging is quite pretty.

I’ve used both glow tonic and this retinol one I prefer this one more, this one makes my pores look nonexistent and I feel that it exfoliates a little better my skin feels so smooth. I’m hoping pixi online will start selling the bigger size.

As a Retinol product this is likely taking the approach of little and often working better than a big dose 2-3 times a week. I already use the Paula’s Choice 1% Retinol so wasn’t expecting any wow results from this toner. I’m using it as a way of keeping things ticking over. Still trying to get my head around the multiple forms of Retinol (retinoids, retinoic, retinal) as it breaks down or is encapsulated for XYZ formulations. It’s a nice toner, light floral scent and is probably a very gently easy entry level product to try. It comes in 100ml and 250ml bottles. I won’t repurchase as things stand but who know how I’ll feel by the end of the bottle? I wish that pixi were upfront about the amount of Retinol in this product!!

It’s an alright toner with a mild lavender scent but I don’t think it’s all that effective as a true retinol product. Retinol is about halfway down the list of ingredients so it is quite gentle for those looking to introduce their skin to retinol. The Glow Tonic and Rose Tonic are better choices from Pixi and I prefer Jouviance Restructiv SRD for my retinol product as it penetrates multiple layers of the skin and therefore much more effective as an anti-aging product. I’m not digging the scent of this toner either, a little too strong for my preference but at least it doesn’t last that long; by the time you are done applying it the scent has pretty much dissipated. To be perfectly honest, this one is a waste of time in my opinion.
