Absolute holy grail. I don’t throw that word around freely, but this product I can confidently say that it’s a fave. I have mild redness on my cheeks and I think it was self-inflicted from trying a handful of actives trying to bombard my skin into clarity and it definitely backfired. I thought I would never be able to clear the redness no matter what I did with as many actives as I could so I turned to calming products and sensitive skin oriented ingredients and this was one of the products I wanted to try, and it’s absolutely amazing.
I adore the ingredient list and really respect Cosrx for caring about what they put in it, including witch hazel, their special green tea extract formula, green tea water, centella, mugwort and tea tree, just a star studded cast of ingredients. You will not find a single problematic ingredient in this list!
Initially, I thought this product didn’t do much for my skin at all, just found it was soothing but no visible effects but within a month I could really see my minor redness start to clear up! I was shocked, it was like one day I realised “oh my redness isn’t that bad today, maybe it’s the lighting”, but it wasn’t, my redness was actually reduced and I attribute it to this product.
I found the original version (One Step Original Clear Pad) too aggressive for everyday use and I think it exacerbated my actives-overuse problem. I also don’t believe that exfoliating everyday for myself isn’t exactly the best and it also dries out my skin, this has a very small amount of exfoliant (0.25%) which I find perfect.
I will say these pads don’t soak as much product as I would like it to, the original version has the perfect amount and these feel like a damp towel kind of wetness. The packaging is nothing short of great, COSRX has proven themselves to put great care into everything they do and the packaging is one of them, the boxes are great, sturdy and simple!
This is a must try, I would say don’t follow the sensitive skin recommendation the brand gives it, this is a very universal skin-type product. Witch hazel and tea tree are both amazing for acne, and the calming ingredients are also good for soothing irritated skin. If you didn’t like the original version and got it because it exfoliates, controls sebum and/or improves skin texture, this does all three jobs too, but not as aggressively. It also has PHA, which is a more recent addition to skincare which touts the same exfoliation properties of a BHA but with less irritation and sides effects that may come with BHAs.
