Before we start, I’m aware that I sound dramatic.
I’m really upset about the reformulation of this tinted moisturizer. The original formulation felt nice on the skin, easy to just slap on, smoothed out any lines, pores, and texture, undetectable, and was truly the definition of a tinted moisturizer.
This doesn’t even feel like one. It’s thick, dry, unpleasant, smells weird, and to make it even worse, it’s orange. Laura Mercier went from offering true, human undertones to selling pure orange tint.
Notice that most people who like it are those who have never known or tried the original TM. Laura Mercier Cosmetics turned their back on the demographic who loved and were loyal to the original tinted moisturizer and repurchased it again and again to gain a new set of customers who only LIKE it and will have probably only purchased it ONCE because it’s nothing special. I believe they shot themselves in the foot here.
It would probably be better if they kept selling the original and this was a different product altogether. This is just sad.

I think this is a decent tinted moisturizer, it does what it claims. My skin is very dry right now and this doesn’t counteract any attempts I make to hydrate and so far hasn’t pilled or made my skin look and/or feel dry. It leaves a sheer hint of color to make the skin tone look more even, but doesn’t help cover more difficult skin imperfections. I like that it doesn’t do anything weird when I apply it heavy (to try to get enough spf coverage) and I use this when I am in a rush because it blends in quickly.
I take a lippie off because I think the shades are darker than what they say, I wish I could of matched it in a store because the descriptions are deceiving. I first tried what is a “fair” shade and it definitely isn’t fair, it’s light. I then tried the lightest shade available and it worked. I’ll be tying out the first tube this summer to see how it likes heat & humidity.

The new bottle is so cute and I am so happy with the increase of SPF, but that’s where my love ends. This is no where near the old formulation. The old formula was so rich and creamy. I got endless compliments on my skin with that formula. This one is sort of cakey. Even the lightest shade (Pearl 0N1) oxidizes. This one ends up looking really greasy by midday as well. I really miss the old formula; wish they hadn’t changed that.

UPDATE: Dug this out to try again now that my skin is drier and it is working pretty well for me. I exchanged the color to 2C1 which is supposed to be a cool color but goes on rather neutral for me. Still trying to decide if Nude would be better. It is wearing well on my dry skin minus a few flaky areas where it doesn’t help at all, and I’m getting all day wear with this. Even the stickiness is fine for winter skin. So this might be great for the right skin types.
I was excited about this new version of TM from Laura Mercier but it left me feeling let down. I bought in Natural based on LM color guidance and it was a good color for me (EL DW 3N1, Clinique EB stone, MAC NC20, Lancome TI Ecru). But that’s where the love ended. I think it is more sheer than her TM with spf 20 and it emphasized pores and texture. It is also very shiny. (I know it’s a TM but I expected some betterment of skin.)If you have dry skin and nothing to hide congratulations you may love this. But for my rosacea and melasma ridden face it did nothing but emphasize what I wear foundation to minimize. It did seem to wear better on combination skin.
