Horrible product! I have sensitive skin and I couldn’t even tell if this product protected me from the sun because it legit rolled off my skin! I tried rubbing it in but it wouldn’t sink in and keep coming off my skin in little bits off the lotion. Would not recommend to anyone! Please don’t waste your money on it. I recommend these options – Sensitive Skin Sunscreen Cancer Council, La Roche-Posay Anthelion AOX Daily Antioxidant Serum with Sunscreen for Face SPF 50 and Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion AM with SPF 30 as they are all non-greasy, lightweight, broad protection and stay on your skin!

I’m kind of on the fence with this product. Compared to LRP’s Anthelios SPF50 gel cream, this is slightly less drying on the skin, although like that one it starts to dry out as soon as it exits the tube so you need to spread it out fast to cover skin evenly. It ends up as a sort of semi-matte finish on the skin, doesn’t make me look super oily or shiny but it does have this mildly detectable waxy look on. However, it sits quite comfortably beneath make-up, and is fairly water resistant – went swimming in the sea on holiday in 40 degrees centigrade for half an hour in early August, and my skin remained as tan-resistant as ever but thankfully with no hint of sunburn.
As I’m getting older, I now have surface dehydration to contend with as well as oiliness. I like that this isn’t drying, but the finish isn’t very flattering on me and for the price, these days you can get better for far cheaper from Japan & South Korea.

I bought this product in a nearby Boots cause I was about to go to Ibiza back then. It did prevent me from getting sunburnt, but it’s somehow burning my skin. My skin felt so hot and irritated right after I used it, even before I was exposed to the sun, so I guess this product does not really work well for those of super sensitive skin like mine. It was also making my eczema and psoriasis worse (yes I have eczema and psoriasis on my face). Although it claimed to mattify skin, it did not do so to my extremely oily T-zone. But at least I like that this product does not have any scent, and the texture is not so creamy.

My HG sunscreen. I use sun protection all year round, and this product never failed me. I have normal/combo skin.
I admit, it’s a tricky product to work with. You have to work fast in order to avoid streaks but if you apply it correctly (evenly) it leaves your skin plump, moisturized and prepared for makeup. It hydrates pretty well too!
What I like:
– broad spectrum sun protection,
– convenient packaging,
– it doesn’t contain denaturated alcohol, an ingredient that makes me break out like crazy.
There are very few sunscreens that don’t break me out and this is one of them.
It does leave white cast but I don’t mind it. I have fair skin plus my face is about shade darker than my neck so it actually evens out this difference.
I could go without its “powdery” scent but since it doesn’t irritate my skin I can deal with it.
*It has many common qualities with Shiseido SPF 50 Cream, so yes I copied those from my Shiseido review.*

For some reason this didn’t give me enough protection! I apply this 30 mins before I go out yet my skin still gets red from the sun! And it’s winter where I live!
Pros:
– Pump dispenser.
– Unscented.
Cons:
– Does not offer sufficient protection.
– Hard to blend.
– When I first apply it it doesn’t leave a white cast, but later on they start to appear!

I have only used this sunscreen once and had to wash it off due to the white cast. I am only light olive and it’s Winter, but still, it made me look ghostly pale. It felt nice and matte but no. The packaging is nice enough and is functional. I will try to get a refund.

EDIT: I changed my review from 2 to 3 stars. The product was easy to apply when my skin was no longer dehydrated. (On vacation I bathed in extremely soft water, with low levels of chlorine and the dehydration disappeared.) However, my other complaints –oiliness, white cast, melting off with water — still held true.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
It claims to be non greasy, have a matte finish, leave no white streaks, and have a water resistant formula.
It doesn’t live up to any of those claims on my skin.
I followed the video tutorial on Avene’s website to use the recommended amount and application method. Sadly, it was very sticky and tough to spread out without having to pull hard on my skin. I tried to pat it on as much as possible to avoid tugging my face, but this made everything splotchy. It left goopy white streaks all over which made my yellowish olive skin look ashy, sickly pink and gray. It also clung like mad to any dry patches of skin, making them itch and flake even more.
The sunscreen stays oily and shiny for up to 12 hours. And the worst part is that it melts away when in contact with water. I tried to wash my lips off after eating something a little bit messy, and when I looked in the mirror I could see a white milky ring around my mouth where the sunscreen had come off with the water.
A real shame as I can tell it really helped prevent my skin from darkening in the sun. I suffer from hyperpigmentation around the mouth and on my forehead — a few minutes in the sun make the spots go gray, so much so that my sister used to tease me when we were kids by calling me Mikhail Gorbachev (google a photo of him and you’ll understand). This sunscreen really did a good job of protecting those spots. Too bad the formula didn’t work for me.

I’ve been using this since I was a child and though I like it, it has some flaws.
1. I don’t agree with the price at all. Avéne is a praised brand for skin, but the price isn’t affordable for even the not-so-rich people.
2. It is hard to distribute to the face as it gets really thick and leaves your face with a faint feeling of oiliness.
Why I like it: It protects your skin pretty good and it is water resistant. Perfect for those beach days and summer days where you either go to the beach/pool or you just sweat after a hot day outside. It doesn’t dry nor leaves my skin greasy and it is a good moisturiser too.
