   This is a review for L’Oreal UV Perfect Instant White SPF 50 +++ (only available in Asia)

   This is…a horrible sunscreen for oily skin! Please stay away. It did not make any “instant white” on my face at all, indeed, it made my face looked shimmery. And just half a day, it made my face looked oilier and greasy. Washed it off right away and at the end of the day, i got little bumps on my face. A waste of money! I’m gonna tell that it may suitable for drier skin type.

   I remember using this during my latter college years. I’m a fair SE Asian with Chinese heritage so instead of tanning, I generally turn pink/red upon prolonged sun exposure. Not cool at all. The SPF50 definitely sealed the deal for me. I’ve used both the Transparent & Porcelain variants & liked them both. This offers more than decent sun protection, but it does tend to up the shine/greasy factor, especially for oily-skinned gals like me. Decently priced, too & lasts for months. I cannot exactly remember why I stopped using it, I think it’s because I finally decided to splurge on the Kose moisturizer I’ve been eyeing & then moved on to SK-II. I’d be travelling a lot this a year, so I’m thinking of getting a tube of this again to use as both facial & body sunscreen. I just hope this is still available in my country!

   My review is for the UV Perfect for oily to combination skin available in Australia. Active ingredients for this version are:
   Butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane 29.4 mg/g
   Drometrizole trisiloxane 30 mg/g
   Ecamsule 14.4 mg/g
   Octocrylene 30 mg/g
   Octyl salicylate 50 mg/g
   Octyl triazone 15 mg/g
   Titanium dioxide 32.6 mg/g
   I have combination skin with pores that tend to block in hot weather. This sinks in quickly, is somewhat matte finish and definitely doesn’t make me oilier. I like the fact that it is a combination physical and chemical sunscreen, and it is the only one of the UV Perfect range which doesn’t include ethylhexyl methocinnamate, which is a chemical sunscreen ingredient I am allergic to.
   The tiny little 30ml tube is handy to have in my purse for touch ups, and although it is expensive, it is worth it to find something that is comfortable in summer, can be worn over an antioxidant serum, and underneath light makeup. I will repurchase, but probably on Ebay where I can get it considerably cheaper. By the way, I purchased this for less than $4 a tube at Coles, where it is a discontinued item. Usual price in Australia is around $17 for a 30ml tube.

   I am so frustrated that we can only get SPF30+ in Australia, so I am basing my review on the SPF30+ version of this product. For some reason, products with as SPF over 30+ are not allowed in Australia because they are considered dangerous due to the nano particles or some such! Anyway, prior to using this, I was buying La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF60+ from Strawberrynet. I really did not think I would find a sunscreen product that would work as well under makeup, but I ran out of my La Roche Posay and didn’t get my order in time, so I needed something else in a hurry as I use a vitamin A serum at night and sunscreen is a must!

   Sunscreens in Australia are usually thick and fairly greasy. I tried the tester in the store and this one seemed fairly thin in comparison and not unlike the Asian and European sunscreens. The price was fairly good, so I thought I might as well give it a go until my order arrived from Strawberrynet.

   The first thing I noticed is that it did absorb well into my skin. Not in the same way as La Roche because that is quite matte, but in a nicer way. My skin did feel moisturised and did not have a white cast or greasy look about it. The real test for me is how it looks under makeup and how makeup applies over it. It passed the test on both counts and it passed with flying colours! My makeup applied smoothly and did not get that greasy look you sometimes get when you apply over sunscreen. It stayed that way all day. I did not notice it on my skin at all. It was comfortable and caused no reactions.

   It is much cheaper than the Clarins and La Roche Posay products and I am now a convert.

   This is way too greasy for Asian skin. I bought about 3 at one time and continued using it because the packaging was really good – small and handy and it is spf 50. But I get spots from this because it is so greasy and my skin does not absorb it well. The oil keeps coming throughout the day. I gave them away to my friend with dry skin and it works really well for her.

   As a sunscreen junkie, this is my HG of sunscreens! I have oily/combo skin and want a sunscreen that goes on light so i can apply makeup over it, is non sticky, and doesnt make my oily zones worse as the day goes on. This definitely does all that! I used to use Clarins UV plus, but i went through it really fast and it was getting expensive to repurchase as much as I did. I wanted to try the new sunscreen formulations with Mexoryl – so i purchased La Roche Posey Anthelios XL where i live in the UK, and had my family in Hong Kong send me the L’Oreal UV perfect in both the tinted (slight beige) and anti-dullness (purple tint) versions. La Roche Posey Anthelios is directly comparable to Clarins in my opinion, so i was already happy with that. But the UV perfect was even better! Out of the two version, the anti dullness (purple one) is by far the best for my skin. It gives this incredible finish that is somewhat like a primer – without the telltale sheen that all sunscreens have. It feels smooth and moisturizing on my skin too. I still have to moisturize, but often with sunscreens layered on top of moisturizers, it can be too much for my oily prone skin. This product doesnt feel like i have as many layers on as I actually do and it last all day. Will definitely purchase more!

   Have been using this product for 5 years and have finished tons of tubes but still can’t get over the fact that It’s a BOON for asian skin..

   i use Transparent skin.
   i have an extremly dry skin.. Agree, too much of it makes one look greasy but then why apply too much in the first place when just a little bit can go a long way. Have tried Clinique, clarins et al however i totally swear by this product. It makes my skin glow. Hard to imagine my day w/o it… two thumbs up for UV perfect. 🙂

   I’ve bought this in my quest for the perfect, high level spf sunscreen in both the purple and transparent ‘flavours’. It does a great job for a cheap (NZ$15) grocery store sunscreen with high spf.

   PROS
   Easy to find and relatively inexpensive
   Does improve the skin (wrinkle reduction around eye area for 4-5 hours after applied directly to clean bare skin
   High spf
   No white cast
   Does not sting eye area
   Does not break the skin out
   Do not need oil to remove
   Not overly fragranced. I think one of the pp was referring to another L’oreal sunscreen (which I also owned and after getting a wiff of the scent, religated it to being a leg sunscreen, it was that bad and long lasting).

   CONS
   Not good on its own under make up. Leads to my foundation being chalky and overapplied.
   Clings to any dry skin and does not really add much moisture.

   I apply it on cool, clean, dry skin after my shower and let it absorb and bond to the skin for a good 20 minutes then apply moisturizer which gives my skin the base it needs for make-up.

   A good buy and I will probably keep coming back to it but am still on the prowl for the perfect sunscreen/moisturizer.

   I bought this product after watching that Niu Er has used this product on the Queen’s show (for those of you who don’t know what this is…it really doesn’t matter…xD)

   I am reviewing the clear version of this sunscreen. Overall I think that it’s a pretty good sunscreen and it’s not very expensive, so I would definitely repurchase this product. This product does not sting my eyes at all. I think the biggest con about this product is that you have to be careful not to apply too much of this product or you may look greasy/need to using a powder on top of the sunscreen.This actually really surprised me because I’m used to using milky liquid sunscreens that dry with a matte finish. This sunscreen reminds me of Anessa’s facial sunscreen, which I love, because both products are creams (not milky liquid sunscreens) and they both leave a radiant dewy finish. However, I would probably choose Anessa’s sunscreen over L’Oreal’s because when I applied a lot of Anessa’s sunscreen I would remain looking glowy whereas when I over applied L’Oreal I looked greasy.

   I’ve used the anti-dullness version as well as the clear version and if I were to repurchase I would stick with the anti dullness version or try the tinted version.

    Wish I could love it, but it gave me 3 cystic acne zits that are still lingering 2 weeks later 🙁 If you have oily, acne prone skin, this might not be the SPF for you!
