Really disappointed in this as although pricey, I have enjoyed most of the DE products I have tried. This is actually one of the more affordable products in the range, given that it’s a 90ml tube. I love the packaging! But that’s where the love affair ends. The first thing I noticed about this was the grainy texture, I mean who wants that? That’s poor formulation in my opinion. To be fair, it blends in ok, not too much of a white cast, but it just seems to sit on top of the skin, never really absorbing and has a greasy feel. The main reason, however ,I can’t use this is really strange. I only use mineral sunscreens as chemical stings my eyes. This stings my eyes, not to the extent that a chemical sunscreen does, but there is something in this , and I’ve no idea what, that is irritating me.At first I thought it was a one off, but no, I tried and tried , still burning eyes so decided to just use this up on my neck.I have never had this with any mineral sunscreen before and I’ve tried just about them all.So, although I realise that this probably isn’t a common reaction to a mineral sunsceen, it is something to be aware of .That said, I can understand why some may love this as the Ingredients are good ,and it has 20% zinc which is a good uva sunblocker. But I can’t be doing with wee white balls on my face all day, and the greasy feel.I wouldn’t even attempt to put make up over this. There are better sunscreens out there so this gets a thumbs down from me. Really expected better from DE.

This is a superior physical sunscreen. A whopping 20% zinc, extra antioxidant support, no silicones, moisturizing, not ghastly white or greasy. I shake the tube and generously pat into face, ears, neck, chest and backs of hands. Doesn’t sting even on rx retinoids (& EVERYTHING stings me right now). The silicone free aspect allows my skin breathing space (too many silicones make my face get red and hot). I don’t wear much makeup right now, maybe a very sheer tinted moisturizer with added spf, so I can’t comment on how it wears under foundation. There is nothing wrong with this product; it is 100% perfect. On a side note, I do actually reapply sunscreen every 2 hours even if I’m sitting inside doing nothing, as I’ve read some newer studies suggesting that sunscreen is only effective for that long (it has nothing to do with swimming or sweating).

It’s quite rich and greasy. It might be ok for dry skin folks though. Didn’t work under makeup. At least it didn’t irritate my rosacea skin. But I don’t think I’ll repurchase.

I’ve repurchased this twice now. It probably isn’t for everybody, but I have sensitive combo skin and this is the only sunscreen out there that actually makes my skin look better. Usually sunscreens make me oily or inflamed, but not this one. It actually makes my complexion look even and gets rid of my redness. Only tiny tiny complaint is you do have to rub it in in a specific way, or you will see white marks. I spread it over my skin like a mask, in small amounts- DO NOT RUB IN. If you try and rub it will pill and leave marks.
Also really wish it were a higher spf… but I’ll take what I can since it makes my skin look so nice.

I’m glad I received this as a mini tube in a set and did not just go out and buy a full size tube. I am a fan of several Drunk Elephant products, but this is a miss. To begin with, the consistency is awful. It feels like slightly runny glue. You gotta use some elbow grease to rub this stuff in! But the really unforgivable issue? I woke up with multiple whiteheads every morning when I had used it the previous day! I’m in my mid fifties and don’t break out any more. Except with this apparently. I do not recommend this.

Second Drunk Elephant product that has really disappointed. As the reviewer below said, it balls up and peels/flakes off. It’s awful!! I’ve tried it on bare skin as well as after moisturizer/serum and it does the same thing. As you rub it in, pieces become opaque and grainy and just peel off on your fingers. Then you have a flaky mess on the face, and I have to rub it off with a paper towel before I can put on make up, probably removing all the sun protection. How can they produce a product like this? Didn’t they test the product? I thought maybe it was supposed to be paired with the Drunk Elephant vitamin c serum to work, but nope, it still does the same thing. It is a real shame, because on the parts of my face it doesn’t rub off (and once I get the flakies off), it is a beautiful finish. Just beautiful. It imparts a healthy brightness to skin. It is not oily like so many mineral sunscreens, and feels very light. It is also not drying like a lot of zinc oxide sunscreens and can double as a moisturizer. It is full of great ingredients. Looks gorgeous under makeup and does not make me more oily. I so wanted to love it, but it is TOO hard to work with 🙁

My skin: Normal to dryish, sensitive. Prone to a bit of redness.
When I apply the required 1/4 tsp of this product to my face, it pills within seconds. Really… I keep thinking there must be some weird microbeads in it—that’s how bad it pills. Pass pass pass.

I use all Drunk Elephant products now and I started with this sunscreen. For me it doubles as a moisturizer and primer – (see Wayne Goss review of this) … it makes my skin extremely soft and I use it on my upper chest, neck and hands as well but use another spf for my body… I am on my second tube and this is a perfect product.

Kudos for the 20% Zinc but this is really goopy, it feels like a first iteration of a product. It has potential but this is thick and the mica particles are too big so it has shimmery finish. For the price, I feel that there is no value for money. I still like Dermaquest SPF50 which as 17% zinc and is very elegantly formulated or Replenix Sheer Physical which wears well on the face. The Honest Company mineral sunscreen also has 20% zinc and is great on the body with high waterproof power. All in all, I would recommend you sample however I have found that there are much better options out there at the same or lower price point, plus you will get factor 50 instead of 30.
