   I know this product has received negative publicity of late. ‘Some people’ claim they wore it and burned anyway. My two cents is that the vast majority of those people are ignorant of how to apply sunscreen, especially physical sunscreen (as opposed to chemical sunscreen).
   Many people apply way less physical sunblock than they should because it’s much more difficult to rub in without a white cast if you’ve put a big gob on like you should. And it’s proven that most people don’t reapply every two hours, let alone reapply the correct amount. But, you know, the media just wants to make it out like it MUST be the product and not the user, because hey, Jessica Alba’s famous and hot and it’ll attract viewers if we act like she’s controversial.
   Let me tell you why I think this product works well.
   I tan indoors. Yes, I know. But I do.
   However, I use this product (and sometimes another brand) on some hyper pigmentation spots. I want to be the same color as the spots, and if I tan the spots, they’ll just be darker. So…I use this product to cover ONLY the hyperpigmentation and when I do it right, it is very hard to see the blotches. Yes!!!!!
   But I actually have to use a q-tip to apply, because if I get the sunblock on my ‘normal’ skin, it blocks the UV rays like a CHAMP, and when I wipe it off, I have tan skin, then a ring of white, pale-ass skin around the dark hyperpigmentation where the sunblock was. Uh. That draws even MORE attention to the blotches. No thanks.
   So anyway, that’s how I know this works. Twenty minutes in a tanning bed is the equivalent of way more than twenty minutes outside by the pool, but when I wipe it away, my dark spots were protected and any regular skin I accidentally covered was protected too and is now blindingly pale. I trust this product is blocking UV because I can see it.
   It IS a different, greasier texture than chemical sunscreens, but that kind of goes with the nature of the molecules, and it’s NOT as bad as many.
   I have not used Honest’s spray or stick version of this product…only the squeeze tube, but I think you can buy it with confidence. Just apply and reapply properly,

   Meh. Wore it out hiking one day. I had a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses on as well, so there was no burning. Still felt greasy and heavy though, and it broke me out. My sister wore it to the beach not long after and got burned to a crisp despite reapplying frequently. There are much better all physical sunscreens out there, tbh.

   I just started using Honest Company’s natural sunscreen. I’m enjoying it so far. For my purposes, though, I don’t spend peak hours under the sun and I haven’t used it on young children. It meets my expectations for working indoors under fluorescent lights or driving around southern California. It applies easily – no greasy sticky residue and no fragrance as advertised. The active ingredient (non-nano zinc oxide) feels great on the face with no chalky film after application.

   Honestly not that special. The Honest Company’s claim to fame is that their products are natural and free of PABA, petrochemicals, silicones, parabens, phthalates, fragrances, gluten, dyes and synthetic chemical sunscreens. It’s great that this product is free of “nasties,” but what’s not so great is the texture. This feels greasy, just like your run-of-the-mill sunscreen product. The active ingredient is zinc oxide 9.3% (hence “natural mineral sunscreen”), which acts as a broad-spectrum protectant against both UVA and UVB rays. It’s the same type of sunscreen you see on lifeguards in movies (you know, the stuff that leaves your nose white). I made sure to rub it in well so that wouldn’t happen. As far as sun protection goes, I was satisfied. I wore this while working outdoors all day for a volunteer project and just reapplied it once during my lunch break, and I did not get sunburnt, so it does work well. 2 lippies for price because it’s not cheap, but I did manage to snag a good deal with the 2-pack at Costco. Would not buy again because there are other sunscreens out there which do not feel so greasy, but I do like that this is a natural mineral sunscreen, and that it comes in a 3 Fl Oz tube, so you can just stick it in your ziplock bag that goes in your carry-on for flights to sunny destinations.
