   I purchased this product thinking that because it was a “baby” sunscreen it would be good for my acne-prone, sensitive skin. Wrong! I used this consistently for a couple of hot, sunny days and got a huge cystic pimple on my back (I NEVER get acne on my back) and several on my face!

   The texture is also horrible. It’s very thick and greasy and leaves your skin looking like an oil slick. It does not spread or sink into the skin easily and requires a lot of rubbing. It dries too quickly and leaves skin feeling sticky and gross. It’s not marketed as waterproof however it doesn’t wash off easily and I felt that, even after showering, it didn’t completely come off. I suppose this could be a good thing if you’re intending to swim but for me it was a massive no-no.

   I would absolutely not re-buy this product as it’s going to take my skin a while to recover from the huge breakout this product caused.

   My skin: Combo-oily, sensitive (among others, my skin takes the habit of breaking out in hives when it doesn’t like something I eat or put on my skin), SD/PD-prone. OSPW. Fitzpatrick IV. Freckles and PIH from hives.

   I used this a few years back after reading a rave review from a Singaporean blogger. I figured, if it works for her in such a humid tropical climate, it should work for me as well in a more temperate climate.

   Firstly, this lotion is looks thick but spreads very easily. It does a bit of rubbing until it finally sinks in. There’s some whitecast upon application that dissipates completely not long after.
   The texture isn’t exactly the most pleasant, it stays a bit tacky for quite a while. But it’s still much better than most I’ve tried. It does dries down to a nice velvety finish eventually, but by the time it does, it would already be the time for reapplication.
   It’s pretty water-resistance and doesn’t easily get washed off in the water.

   Now, mind you, despite my fitzpatric skin categorization (I have medium-tan skintone), I burn in the sun without protection, before then tan. I’ve had my skin burnt twice and it was no fun at all. At that time, I was also recovering from PIH from breakout I got 1.5 years before, aside of having a lot of freckles on my face.

   This was the sunscreen I took for my summer vacation in Greece in summer 2012. At that time, I didn’t know much about sunscreen stability, so for the sake of cosmetically pleasant looking face, I mixed some of this with my Lucy Minerals powder foundation.

   Despite of such a mistaken attempt, I can attest that the protection of this sunscreen is magnificent. I really did put it in such strenuous test, baking myself in the hot sun of Kerkyra (Corfu) for 7 days straight. I spent my whole day laying down at the beach and swimming around in the sea in the sweltering summer heat with this on, from high noon to sun down.
   I was, though, very diligent on reapplication, doing so every 2-3 hours and everytime I got out of the water. After 5 days, all my friends were amazed how I managed to barely tan at all. Unfortunately, the same day, I fell asleep while sunbathing and skipped 2(!) reapplications. It was then when my skin reddened and then tanned.

   Also, my facial skin looked clearer and brighter and I didn’t have any new growth of freckles on my face. Dare I say, the freckles looked a bit faded and less noticeable.

   I personally think this is the best sunscreen for outdoor use so far of all I’ve tried. It’s tenacious and has real great protection. I may opt for Uriage Bariésun Lait Enfants SPF 50+ if I spend a lot of time outside with little to no water activities. But, this Soltan Baby stays as a favourite and most reliable sunscreen for body thus far. Not to mention it’s economical, too.
