   5 stars all across the board for me! I was pleasantly surprised by this sunscreen. I’m used to alcohol free sunscreens to be heavy and tacky, so that’s what I was expecting from this. Instead, it’s one of the most lightweight alcohol free sunscreens I’ve tried. Actually it’s probably one of the lightest formulas I’ve tried ever. It’s not as light as the fan out Biore one, but that’s got a huge ton of alcohol in it, you win some and you lose some.

   It doesn’t break me out and feels very comfortable on. Its also not drying, so some days I even skip my moisturizer and just use this after my serum. However, I do have oily skin so I can get away with it.

   I wear MAC shade NC35 so I have medium tanned skin, and this sunscreen has no white cast at all.

   Would definitely recommend and repurchase.

   This is a lovely sunscreen. The texture is lotiony and applies smoothly. It’s easy to use the full 1/4 teaspoon. It left me a little dewier and more moisturized (shinier) than I prefer, and it’s definitely not weightless on me (using the full amount), so not what I usually expect from an Asian sunscreen, but it didn’t feel as heavy on the skin as US sunscreens, for sure. If you have normal to dry skin, give this a shot. It was a pleasure to use and didn’t cause any camera flashback or sun exposure during a long, VERY hot wedding weekend. It also didn’t stain my bridesmaid dress!

   The scent isn’t bad. I detected the chamomile that dissipates quickly, and under that, a chemically scent that must be the filters. This scent tends to linger.

   I had to quit using this after 5 consecutive days because my skin became itchy, irritated, and with slight red patches. I’m guessing it’s either the filters or the niacinamide. I’ve had issues with niacinamide in the past, so if you’re ok with niacinamide, give it a shot. I’ll be enjoying using this on my body next summer.

   I have been using this featherlight, non-irritating and glossy sunscreen for a couple of weeks so far, in which it is time to create a review. It is a featherlight sunscreen which spreads on my skin effortlessly. It’s interesting because this doesn’t contain silicones, yet this is significantly more smoother than other sunscreens I own which contain silicones. On the skin, it gives that beautiful K-Beauty ‘honey-skin’ finish which I find pleasing, although I can imagine that those who have acne or uneven texture won’t enjoy such a finish. It has the texture of a lightweight primer, which I find appealing; it makes me almost excited to apply sunscreen in the morning. Due to this, I find this recommendable to those who are put off by sunscreen and/or have a negative history of using unsatisfactory sunscreens. And most importantly, it has no white-cast!

   Although this is fragrance-free, it does contain essential oils. I don’t find this to be an issue since it’s seemingly a single ingredient, and is at the end of the ingredient list which indicates it’s an insignificant amount. It uses the sunscreen filters: Uvinul T 150, Uvinul A Plus. I find these filters much more desirable, and they don’t sting my skin/eyes whatsoever. Interestingly, this sunscreen does not contain ‘drying alcohols’ which makes this a great option for those who have problematic skin, especially for those who can’t tolerate drying alcohols. It also includes great ingredients such as panthenol, niacinamide and beta-glucan.

   What a gorgeous, lovely product! I have tried approx 1200 sunscreens and this is one of the top 5 for sure. Background on me: my skin is very dry + flaky, sensitive/rosacean, acne-prone, product-reactive, and extremely sun-sensitive. I have been testing this for the past 4 months and it has become my daily ss for when I’m inside/at the office all day. (My other favorites are all-physical – elta md The Daily + Dermaquest SheerZinc, both of which are also elegant formulations.) The Klairs is a chemical ss with octocrylene as the main screening ingredient. Octocrylene has recently been in the news as a sunscreen ingredient that enters the bloodstream easily though there are no tests yet proving that in itself causes health issues. If that is something that bothers you, stick with an all-physical sunscreen with non-nano ingredients that remain on the surface of your skin. If you’re willing to live on the edge with octocrylene, here are the reasons why Klairs is a great choice:

   Pros:
   – No white cast
   – No irritation/redness, no breakouts, does not dry out my skin
   – No pilling under all my favorite skincare products
   – Creamy gel formula works great under makeup – doesn’t cause a sheen or greasiness. Would work well for combination to dry skins.
   – Sun protection: Works well (but I have only tested it for my typical weekday daily wear)
   – Availability: I order it on ebay

   Cons:
   – Price: At around $23 USD for 2.7 oz, this is not cheap to buy in the US. (I assume it’s cheaper in Asia.)

   All in all, this product is amazing and I highly recommend it!

   This is slowly becoming my HG sunscreen even though I’ve only tried 3 other face sunscreens. It’s just really good! It’s cosmetically elegant, has no white cast whatsoever, leaves no greasy residue – only a slight satin finish and sits very nicely under makeup. It has great ingredients like niacinamide, panthenol, hyaluronic acid, allantoin, vitamin E, sea buckthorn oil and it’s fragrance free. On top of that Klairs is also cruelty free and mostly vegan, PLUS I am able to use it as my AM moisturizer which is what truly makes this HG for me. It’s also nice that it comes in 80mL packaging instead of the standard 50mL. The price is great too.

   For those that usually hate sunscreen you need to forget all those heavy, sticky, greasy European or US products, (even the ones that claim to be “lightweight” or ”mattifying”) Asian sunscreens are far far superior and this is one of the best. It’s a light cream formula that sinks in beautifully, leaves no greasiness, film or white cast, doesn’t pill or interfere with makeup application at all, doesn’t clog skin or lead to break outs (I have acne prone skin) and doesn’t sting around your eyes as some sunscreens can. I have oily skin but I think it would also work for dry skin as it’s alcohol free. It also has some good skincare ingredients and is cruelty-free (Klairs doesn’t sell in China so is truly a cruelty-free brand rather than a lot of brands, which may not test on animals but they then sell their products in China where animal testing is mandatory). If I had to find a negative it would be that it does contain fragrance but honestly the positives totally outweigh this small complaint. I can’t recommend highly enough!

   I’m on my second tube of this sunscreen which I tried after a recommendation from Korean skincare youtuber Gothamista. I use this in the warmer months, it has a light airy texture that is lightly moisturizing, so in spring and summer I cleanse my face and can do this and combine moisturizer and spf in one step. I sometimes layer vitamin C and a toner underneath, but in a hurry I don’t need anything under it to have a lovely base to put makeup on. I’m dry and acneic, but don’t find that this causes me acne or skin irritation, although I’m not as sensitive or reactive as some people. It is not fragrances free, although it seems very lightly fragranced, but most fragrances are on with my skin so I only mind when it is heavily scented.

   It is initially more expensive at $23, but contains almost 3 oz of product instead of 1.7 oz or even 1 oz like some pricey sephora brands. I also like that I’m not ordering it quite as often. Therefore I think I just naturally am a little more generous with the product, which is never a bad thing with sunscreen. I’ve also got my mom hooked on this sunscreen, and she never tries new things. She loves the light texture, as do I. I’ve bought it from Wishtrend as well as direct from well reviewed sellers in South Korea on eBay. For winter or dry climates I like Innisfree Dry skin sunscreen (not the triple care one in the same packaging).

   The Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence has quickly become a favorite daily sunscreen.  I find myself reaching for it more and more often.  Still, it does not make my Sunscreen Top Ten for one main reason: a small amount of added fragrance.  Thankfully the scent dissipates immediately and isn’t bothersome.  This sunscreen works so well under foundation and over any moisturizer.

   One other nice feature of the Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 PA++++ is that it is actually economical.  The full size is rather large, 2.7 ounces, 80 ML and the price averages around $23.  Many other face sunscreens on the market are around 1 ounce or 30 ML.  This large bottle encourages liberal application so that you aren’t skimping to save money or make the bottle last longer.

   The Soft Airy UV Essence layers so nicely with EVERY foundation and moisturizer I’ve used with it.  I have never experienced any pilling,  not once.  The sunscreen sets to a matte finish, or to the finish of the product you apply it over.  It never looks greasy, shiny, white cast, or cakey.  It just looks natural, like you have nothing else on.

   EDIT: Had to remove 2 lippies because this sunscreen does not protect against UVA1 rays. It protects against UVA2 and UVB rays (Ethylhexyl Triazone (blocks UVB) and Uvinul A Plus) only.

   The only actives that protect against UVA1 are Zinc Oxide, Tinosorb S and Tinosorb M.

   Krave Beauty’s Beet Shield is a better option for a broad spectrum sunscreen that doesn’t have white cast and isn’t irritating.

    I have been using this for around two months now, on a daily basis.

    I love it. Ive stuck to zinc – based ss for years due to sensitivities. I thought my usual Replenix 50 spray was pretty non – drying. After a week of using the Klairs instead, my rough cheeks weren’t at all rough any more and my face isn’t feeling dry.

    It’s fragrance isn’t strong , and disappears almost right away. It feels cool for a few minutes while it dries down. It’s completely dry in 10-15 minutes, depending on the amount of moisturizer I use. Finish is natural matte to slightly dewy, again depending on how much moisturizer or whether I use squalene. I’m finding that I need significantly less moisturizer than I used to use , even in winter. No white cast at all. Both liquid and foundation sits well over it.

    It’s not water- resistant, so I’ll need something else for gardening and summer exercise, but for winter, it’s great because it washes off easily with Vanicream Gentle Cleanser, no oil cleanser needed.

    Powders and light to medium coverage liquid foundation works well over it, but the two fuller- coverage products I have tried (repeatedly) over it have all shown texture that is otherwise invisible. For reference, those were KA SSE, Milk Blur fdtn, and CoverFX Power Play fdtn.

    Really a lovely ss and the first ss that I don’t use grudgingly, but rather like.
