I first used this at my parents’ place because I hadn’t brought any sunscreen with me. I think they bought it because it was a good price, but they (and I) have kept buying it because the texture is better than any other sunscreen I’ve tried (except some I’ve bought while travelling that aren’t available where I live).
The best thing about this sunscreen is that it is a high SPF, but it feels like a lotion. I know, I know, sunscreens/sunblocks with physical ingredients are better, but…I hate the feel of them so much that I end up using them less than I should. Unlike those, which are greasy, thick, and hard to rub in, Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch goes on easily and soaks into skin with very little trace. I don’t feel sticky and gross. I don’t look like I coated myself in white paint. You are supposed to reapply ANY sunscreen every 80 minutes, and with this stuff, I am far more likely to actually do it. I also use closer to the actual amount you’re supposed to use (which is a lot).
I find it offers pretty good daily outdoor activity sun body protection for me (I have used it on my face in a pinch without problem, but I prefer a face sunscreen meant specifically for facial skin). It prevents me from burning and keeps me pretty pale. Now, full disclosure, I don’t tend to go out in the blazing noonday sun, and I seek shade whenever I can. I don’t normally go into the water, either. If I’m going to be very exposed, or on/in the water, I use a physical sunscreen. However, I was recently on a trip to a hot, sunny big city where I used this sunscreen exclusively, even when touring exposed outdoor ruin sites, and it really worked. Like I said, I was less reluctant to reapply and I think that helped.
The scent is, well, tropical–coconut and some other fruit. You end up smelling faintly like a pina colada. By no means is this scent free! But it’s not too strong and I really don’t mind it.
Overall, I highly recommend this sunscreen if
-you are looking for a pleasant feeling, non-greasy, non-sticky lotion type body sunscreen
-you are okay without a physical ingredient
-you are not sensitive to chemical ingredients like avobenzone or octinoxate
-you don’t mind a coconut scented product
-you don’t burn super easily and have good sun habits like covering up with a shawl or seeking shade when the sun is strongest
-you are willing to reapply as you are supposed to and aren’t using it for a water sunscreen.

I ilke this sunscreen. I have it in SPF 60 ”sheer touch oil-free sunscreen” and I really like it.
Like every Hawaiian tropic product, I like the smell. I also like the fact that it’s mostly like a lotion and not a oily sunscreen, I put it on and it doesn’t leave me shiny (unless I put it on my face). I used it at the beach and at the pool and it was fine, my only complaint is that if I use it on my face and do sports, I feel super oily and sweaty. It’s not my sunscreen of choice for my face but for the body, it’s perfect 🙂
I will repurchase again and again.

Love that coconut scent of Hawaiian Tropic sun products. It is the most delicious smelling sun lotion ever. To me, it is the scent that makes the lotion irresistible for me. I do like the texture of the lotion very much too, not too thick, not too runny, just like a regular body lotion, very easy to apply.

I got this for free and It sat in my trunk for a month before I tried it since I’m not a big fan of sunscreen without any physical ingredients. I have to say though that for the body this is a decent product and absorbs just like a lotion. The scent is nice and not so strong that people smell you coming. I have this in spf 50 and while it does keep me from burning in the FL sun I still tan with it on so for those of you looking for more complete protection look elsewhere for something with a physical ingredient in the mix. This leaves no white cast and works well in place of moisturizer when I get out of the shower. I make sure not to accidentally get this anywhere above my chest though.Chemical sunscreens with similar ingredients and texture in other brands do bad things to the skin on my face and neck and burn like hell when I sweat or hit salt water. I don’t have that problem elsewhere on my body so this is a nice alternative to some of the heavier sunscreens.

Ended up using this (in an SPF 45) when my regular trusted sunscreen (L’oreal Ombrelle) was reformulated and was not cutting it anymore. This is a lovely sunscreen, not very greasy, absorbs quick, smells amazing and protected my extremely fair, sun burnt prone skin even when I spent the entire day on the beach in the sun. Would definitely repurchase.

I love this sunscreen. It smells so great and I love that for the protection factor, it isn’t thick and white. I hate sunscreen (usually at SPF 30 or higher) that is thick and turns my skin a whitish-purple. This definitely does not. I just took a trip to Hawaii and used this the whole time. I only slightly tanned and didn’t burn at all.
Don’t forget–you can’t just put on sunscreen and jump in a pool or the ocean–you HAVE to apply a good 15 minutes before doing so otherwise it won’t be effective.

I loooove this product. I tried the SPF 30 and loved that I could find the SPF 50.
It smells lovely, having a nice tropical scent, as opposed to the usual, stinky plastic chemical smell.
I have very oily skin, so even the SLIGHTEST bit of oil/grease in sunscreen makes me look like I’ve bathed in a vat of oil. I look THAT bad. Add heat, sun, and sweat to the mix, and I look awful.
This doesn’t do that to me. I’ve worn it in cool weather and hot, blistering sun, and it feels like I haven’t put much on at all. I’ve put it through repeated tests and I’ve been great. I get none of the burning.
I have literally tried every brand of sunscreen, from generic, house brand to Neutrogena, and THIS is the best. (I can’t afford the super expensive stuff at Ulta or Sephora, so I never tried that… But with this, I don’t need to.)
I usually hate cream sunscreens, but this is a winner for sure. I will not need to try anything else.

I have this in spf 30, since there’s isn’t even a 10% protection difference between 30 and higher spf. You still have to apply them throughout the day, and they say at least a golf ball sized amount for your whole body. The average family should use two bottles in one day. That’s kind of shocking… I cannot stand the chemical scent of sunscreens or the greasy feeling, so this is HG for me. It has the old school HT scent, but it’s nowhere near as strong as it used to be back in the day. This absorbs and is nicely scented. I don’t feel like I need to take a shower after using it, and it doesn’t leave that film-feeling like most do. If you have dry skin, then go for the new lotion/spf formula.

I put this on before I went to the pool and it burned the heck out of my skin. I tried to get it to stop burning but the only relief was to jump in to the pool… :'(
