Unlike the previous reviewer, I was lucky enough to receive several samples of this sunscreen both in Japan and Austria, so I didn`t waste my hard earned cash on this. I am also a big fan of the BR line, so I was expecting to fall in love with this sunblock, but upon opening my first little tube, I was shocked to feel some gritty solids in the milky cream, which while not terribly irritating, still odd to apply. Thankfully there were no scents and I didn`t turn into a greasy mess, like the reviewer before me, but the finish certainly is not on the matte side, either. As far as cast, I have really fair skin, and this formulation is an odd yellow, watery milk, so no issues there for me. The problem was that when I tried to apply whatever other base make up, whether it was CC cream or foundation, a lot of the sunscreen solid bits which I thought I had blended out, balled up with bits of foundation and started peeling off my face. This goes for all my favorite foundations, including a cushion, so I thought perhaps the sample I had received was expired, no way could BR release such a dud. Then a few weeks later in Vienna I have received more, samples of the same sunscreen, which were exactly the same as the first sample I got in Japan. So, if the product balls up, I have to seriously ask myself just how much protection does it actually offer my skin? I would never buy the full size, although I love other BR products. Whoever approved this for release needs to recall and go back to the drawing board because you`re giving your company a bad reputation.

I posted this under sunscreen but I think you can also consider this a moisturizer with spf because it has some ingredients that are anti-aging. Save your money, do not buy this product!
I love BR products and use it almost exclusively so was very happy to hear they have a new line sun protection products. I bought this without trying it first (they don’t accept returns, ever) because I was positive it would be excellent. It isn’t. It is the worst sunscreen I’ve ever used and detest the fact that I spent $130 on this. I have combination skin which means that in the winter months my skin is on the dry side. Despite this, the Protection U.V. makes my entire face greasy. It also leaves a very visible white cast on my entire face. It is a mineral based sunscreen (zinc and titanium dioxide) and I expected more from such an expensive product. My go-to sunscreen is from one of those natural brands that whole foods sells. It is also mineral based with zinc and titanium dioxide and it does not leave a whitish cast on my face at all. It is also not greasy.
The amount of zinc in this is 3.8%. My dermatologist tells all her patients that the minimum amount of zinc a sunscreen should have is 5%. And this seems to be the minimum no matter what the other ingredients are. I don’t know why 5% is the minimum but I trust her so for me, the low level of zinc is another strike against this product.
The product also has a tendency to ball up on my face leaving little bits of product all over so I can’t wear foundation/powder. I’ve tried using the product alone and over a BR moisturizer and I still have this same problem. It might be something in the product reacting to something in my skin but just know that it could react to your skin as well.
Lastly, packaging. I like that it has a pump because the pump keeps germs out (unlike some of their other products that come in jars). But, it also means you might pump out too much product and waste some.
Overall, I’m incredibly disappointed in Biologique Recherche and that they put out such an inferior product. I’ll continue to buy P50 but will start experimenting with other brands for everything else. If they are going to put out such products then they need to allow customers to order samples or they need to accept returns from customers who hate the product they bought.
