   Ok, I don´t know where to start…I bought this because I was looking for a mineral, “good ingredient” sunscreen and coincidently read about a primer from NARS. They have a spf 50 primer, and someone mentioned it was amazing, as amazing as the old MAC Prep+Prime SPF50…Anyway, I fell for the Idea of a Primer +SPF, and was interested in the NARS one, and then I entered the drugstore and found/tested this. It feels exactly like a havy siliconed based primer, like those transparent ones. But it feels like it has some mineral tinted powders in there too. So, it sounded amazing. It never sets, and that is exactly what I hate about those primers.It looks invisible on my skin, but I will say it kinda smoothes the texture a bit. It is hard to believe that the amount I am spreading is actually going to be effective in terms of protection, because I end up with such a thin layer of product, and it is impossible to use much beacause it would feel just…like a mess. I see it as a base/primer, and it actyually says Matte base in the packaging, and as a primer+FPS I guess it would work if I didn´t hate silicone sooo much. It looks Matte but feels soooo greasy! If you like those primers and want a (kinda) healthy SPF, than try this.
   I am still on the hunt for a SPF that is (mostly) mineral based and has good ingredientes in it, tho…

   I wish I had read the reviews of this sunscreen first, before spending almost CAD 50! It’s absolutely dreadful and the claim that it’s for oily skin is a joke – it made me more oily than normal! The consistency is very thick which makes it difficult to spread and it doesn’t seem to get absorbed at all – just sits there on top of your skin… I’ve tried it on its own (=accentuated every single little wrinkle and dry patch on my face) as well as on top of moisturizer (=was even more difficult to spread evenly) and on both occasions I ended up washing it off as it looked too bad to go out with… Since I paid so much for it I then tried a few other combinations when at home: on top of a few other moisturizers, on top of hydrating serum, under make-up, and the result was the same – very obvious cakey look… What’s more, my skin would get super-oily within 1.5-2 hours! Honestly, I don’t know what to do with it except throwing it away 🙁

   First of all it is expensive. Packaging is not so great as I have to squeeze the tube hard in order to get a tiny bit of product. I am ok with the color as it matches my skin tone. When applying it, it feels and looks matte. Definitely you need to moisturize your face first, otherwise if you apply the sunscreen first, it emphasizes your dry bits and make your skin look flakey. Anyways, after applying it , give a few hours and check my face in the mirror, and now I am more oilier than usual. I am so disappointed with this brand, they say product is for oily skin and when you use it you get more oily and you waste a lot of money in that.

   i like the concept of semi-matte looking SPF without too much alcohol contents. while i love biore perfect face milk for my super duper oily skin, i try to give break here and there to not to have too much alcohol in already sunny SoCal. for skinceutical sunscreen, i’d stick with physical fusion uv defence, because this one i like the mousse-y texture, semi-matte finish all that but this suncreen never sets! i dont usually wear makeup and unless you powder face, this mousse will move around whenever you touch your face, or clothing, hair touches 🙁 i’m just gonna use this up as touch up sunscreen and get it over with.

   I’ll just come out and say it: I hate this stuff. I hate how it separates so you have to shake the bottle every single time before you apply, I hate the weird tint (blend very well or else you end up with little beige/orange gobs of product), but most of all I hate that it eats my makeup – after a couple of hours my foundation almost completely disappears. Yes, this product gives a matte finish and I’m sure the sun protection is great, but it’s only useful if you plan on wearing it by itself. This is definitely not something that can be layered with foundation, or at least, liquid foundation.

   As a dark skinned person living in a hot humid climate and with oily sensitive skin, I’m probably a nightmare for SPF companies. I have been trying so many sunscreens in the hope of finding my HG and I’ll probably keep looking. This sunscreen is probably the mattest cream I’ve tried without alcohol as a major ingredient (I’m looking at you Soth Asian sunscreens and Channel UV Essential). When you’re applying it, it really feels like dry like you’re applying powder. It’s not very thick but it doesn’t spread very easily, so you tend to apply more which is probably a good thing for sun protection.

   The main issue I have with it – the tint. For my NC43 skin colour, it is still too light and definitely looks masky especially as you have to apply so much. I have to mix it with my Bare Minerals foundation (which is luckily quite thin thus making it easier to spread) but I would rather not have to wear foundation at all. I understand that the whiteness of physical sunscreens is hard to disguise, even with a lot of blending, but then they should make the tints in different shades and stop buying into the idea that there is a universal shade for all skin colours. There just isn’t.

   The best thing is that it does seem to remain matte during the day although people should note that it is not water or sweat proof. I have developed large dark spots from my temple downwards on both sides of my face from earlier using a non-waterproof sunscreen which probably came off with perspiration. Another positive for this sunscreen is that it is fragrance free and doesn’t seem to cause me any irritation or pore blocking. I’ve been using it for 4 days now and will update if there are any changes.
