Edit:
My name is Afrocutie (getting a bit old now) and I am a pre-mature reviewer, I know I am not alone, but this is a problem that creeps up on you and I just wanted to complete my steps in rehabilitation, step 1 – realising the problem.
This product has caused a reaction on my cheeks, a rash like crop of surface spots. I know it is this as when I double cleanse this off, my skin calms down and by morning it is smoother again. Left it off for a day and the rash didn’t appear by the end of the day. I will still use this on my body, probably on the tops of my feet come sandle season. With a fluid consistency and light feel on the skin, slight grey cast, water and sebum resistance and how much you get, this stuff is a fair enough buy (at 1/2 price £6.49). So I have kept the 3 lippie rating. I haven’t used close to my eyes as all SS’s cause my eyes to sting.
Step 2: So I hereby declare I will not review a product until I can’t use it (reactions, white cast, just plain doesn’t work) or I have at least used up the product.

Only 3* UVA (out of 5*) but relative to the SPF. Bleh, so confusing EU ratings.
Anyhow, this was a panic buy, it has a slight grey cast although nowhere as much as the Bioderma Photoderm SPF30 which is basically like smearing toothpaste over my face.
Ok, this is a fluid, not thin enough for a milk, but it passes. Once it has dries, which is 5mins before it stops being sticky, I can add another thin layer without making my face feel loaded with product. A light dusting with powder takes the slight shine and slight grey, away.
I wouldn’t say any particular skin darkening using this product, even with using an AHA product at night.
As with any sunscreen, I have to be meticulous with removal or blocked pores will ensue. However, until my sunscreens from Japan and Korea arrive (I am slightly concerned at my excitement), this will do.

This review is for the Garnier Ambre Solaire Light & Silky SPF50. It worked very well to prevent my skin burning but it certainly wasn’t light or silky. I bought two bottles for a 3 week holiday in the tropical heat of SE Asia, hoping that because it was ‘light & silky’ it would sink into my skin easily, leaving it soft rather than tacky, and without adding to the inevitable sticky, sweaty feeling I would have to endure from the climate….Despite being a lotion, it was thicker and greasier than expected. It sat on my skin, felt heavy and sticky and made my face look very, very shiny.
I would have much preferred this sunscreen as an easily absorbed ‘milk’, it would have felt lighter on the skin and more comfortable in the heat…I can’t fault the sun protection but next time I’ll look for something less greasy.

Garnier is my go-to brand for sunscreen. I like the formulas, the packaging and most of all the scent. This is another good sunscreen, it protects well, and feels light on the skin. The pricepoint is very good as with all Garnier products.
What I really don’t like is that it “rolls” off my skin. I have yet to find a sunscreen that doesn’t, but I really hate it! It also stains my clothes, and those cons are enough to give it only three lippies.
For reference, I’m a pale scandinavian with blue eyes and blond hair, freckles and lots of pigment-spots (whatever they’re called) on my body. I generally don’t tan, just burn, but haven’t with this sunscreen.
