I have oily very acne prone skin. My skin doesnt really get white heads or black heads but it ll go straight to nodules and cysts if it doesnt like something. Sunscreen is one of things i have yet to find one that works for me consistently. This one sadly is not it. jack black sunscreen spf 45 oil free works for me. I have written a review on that as well.
This sunscreen doesn’t specify that it is oil free but when running ingredients through acne mantra ‘s ingredients checker, a handful of mildly comedogenic ingredients came up. Nothing too concerning so i decided to give it a try.
The product feels very watery and light. It goes on easily and leaves a sheen but sheen goes away after it dries. Has a lighy floral smell. However it is extremely sticky and after applying my hands are sticky. This made my skin greasy which i am guess might be due to the high alcohol content drying skin out. The sunscreen caused lots of breakouts so i stopped using it on my face. I us d it on my body but the sun protection is extremely extremely poor. I got burn on this. This really is an awful product. Skip it!

This is my current daily susncreen. I can use the SPF 30 version on my face under makeup with no problems, whilst the spf 50 version is quite irritating. I don’t use it around my eyes. Its moisturizing but surprisingly doesn’t feel heavy or occlusive. It’s not matte eaither, but the shine isnt over the top and actually serves as a great base for my matte foundations. The consistency is that of a gel cream, but it’s not watery.
I cant say for sure this doesnt break me out, but I have incredibly acne prone, oily, sensitive skin and I’ve been using this for at least 4 months, have gone through 2-3 tubes already (I use it on face a neck/chest), and I dont see a marked increase in clogged pores at night nor an explosion of breakouts. I’m breaking out currently, but I cant peg the blame on this at all. I will update at the end of the year; by then I’ll know if this is acne safe.
The only con is that it’s not fragrance free. That said the fragrance is mild thankfully. This is above average good so 4 lippies it is.
####original review####
The first three days in a row I used it I was having new breakouts. I also used another new product, so I hope it was that instead. It felt fine on a first but at mid day my skin felt itchy and irritated. I will use it for my neck/chest from now on if it doesn’t cause breakouts there since I’m clog/spot prone all over my body. My HG sunscreens is a chemical sunscreen, so that was not the problem. This is not fragrance free, which it should’ve been, and that’s another con. It also makes my eyes tear up.
So Even though its super easy to spread, has no whitecast, and is not greasy, I think I can’t use this on my face 🙁 That said makeup went on top perfect, just like with Neutrogenabreakout free. Hopefully I can use it as a less irritating alternative to Neutrogena Breakout Free on my neck and chest.
My HG chemical FACE sunscreen is Paulas Choice skin Balancing spf 30. It just upsets me its $30 frigging dollars for 2 oz. Anyway, as long as I can I will repurchase as its damn near perfect for my oily acne prone skin (except that it makes my eyes tear. I havent found a mineral sunscreen that performs well on me and doesn’t break me out).
