I was a devoted user of Missha All Around Safe Block Essence Sun for *years*. I loved it so, so much, and recommended it to anyone looking for a good facial sunscreen. And then Missha betrayed me and reformulated it to contain the ONE silicone that almost instantly gives me cystic acne. I cried when I found out, I’m not ashamed to say. I desperately searched the rest of their sunscreen products looking for a replacement, but sadly I could not find one. Though I did find other Korean sunscreens that worked well for my skin I was still longing for my beloved Missha, and a few months later this was released. Is it the same thing? No, it’s got a pearlized “flash” that, while subtle, is still there so it doesn’t just fade into your skin. But it is very, very similar in that when I’m wearing it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing any sunscreen at all despite the fact that I pile it on (seriously, measure out 1/4tsp it’s way more than you think). It’s also a double duty product for me since it’s similar in effect to a pearlized foundation primer, which is how I frequently use this because it wears like a dream under my foundation. Anyway, it has an excellent profile of sunscreen filters (Octocylene, Octinoxate, Ethylhexyl salicylate, Uvinal A Plus, Tinosorb S, and titanium dioxide), and it thankfully does not rely on avobenzone for UVA protection, so for those of us who are sensitive to it that’s great. I would be happier if Missha brought back the old formula of the Safe Block, but this isn’t bad and when I want something that gives me a dewy effect it’s absolutely what I’ll reach for.
