I wear sunscreen every day, and I have a hard time finding facial sunscreens that don’t irritate my skin or my eyes. I thought I would give this one a try, as I generally have better luck with physical sunscreens. This didn’t work for me as a facial sunscreen — it was difficult to apply, greasy, left a white cast, and always managed to get in my eyes.
Today, I couldn’t find my normal sunscreen and decided to use this on my arms. This might be the worst sunscreen I’ve ever tried. It’s thick, hard to apply evenly, leaves a terrible shiny white cast, smells unpleasant, and never sinks in. I have super dry skin. Nearly EVERYTHING sinks into my skin eventually. This sunscreen did not! An hour after I put it on, once I arrived at work, my arms were still greasy with white splotches. I had to wipe as much off of it as I could with paper towels, and it still feels gross. And all for a paltry SPF20!
I don’t like giving one-star reviews, and I almost gave this two stars because I appreciate the increasing availability of natural and physical sunscreens. I don’t think it’s fair to rate it so highly, though, as it’s so unpleasant to use that I won’t be using it at all. I’ll stick with Biore Watery Essence for my face and regular baby sunscreen for my body from now on.

This white lotion smells like the nostalgic Banana Boat sunscreens my mom used to slather on me beside a pool. Smells kind of sweet.
It dries non-sticky and lightly moisturizing.
I would keep using this if it didn’t break me out. It may work better for others.
I have given up on sunscreen moisturizers because they all seem to break me out, and just use makeup with SPF instead.

While too greasy for my face this is awesome for my body! Love it! I use Powder Sunblock on my face now, but had this in the bathroom. Used it for the first time today and it is great!

I will never use another sunscreen. I love the ingredients in all alba products. Their body lotion is something i could never be without. This sunscreen is affordable, doesn’t make me look pasty, and doesn’t feel oily or break me out.
I use it on my body as well, makes the product go faster, but it works great.
It leave a bit of a shine, it isn’t a proclaimed matte sunscreen, so its a given, but not a greasy look, just a glow.

This was recommended to me by a guy at the local natural foods store. While I’d love to go chemical free, I cannot handle the pale, shiny look inherent in physical sunblocks — it looks like I’m perpetually running a fever. So, I heeded the recommendation and nabbed this. Love it! There is a barely detectable sunscreen smell that goes away pretty much instantly, and the consistency is closer to a creme than a lotion, but it absorbs very well. I’m actually able to wear enough of this that I’m deriving some actual sun protection (in the past, I haven’t been able to suffer a substantial amount of product on my face). It’s quite emollient, and though I can wear it over moisturizer in the winter I think I’ll have to shelve the moisturizer in the summer. It leaves my skin softer than just my moiturizer alone, actually, and doesn’t cause any noticeable increase in grease factor. I use this as a daily sunscreen, and in the event of a premeditated day in the sun I suck it up and revert to the Dr. Hauschka’s physical block. However I’m also comfey using this as my primary if I find myself outside for extended periods, unplanned. Will definitely repurchase.

I bought this sunscreen in hopes that it was chemical-free. I thought all the Alba Botanica ones were, but only the mineral one next to it was (duh). I didn’t realize this till about after a month though. I have broken out worse than EVER using this. Even worse than regular sunblock. I have never had acne all over my whole face before and it makes me sad and stressed out. I am very displeased and returned it.

Although this is a bit thick and takes a few seconds to rub in, and it may have made my forehead breakout a bit – – it works, and it works better than many other facial sunscreens. It washes cleanly off, and is great for the neck area, too.

I’ve been on a quest to use products with safer ingredients and I chose this sunscreen because it had the safest rating on the EWG website among the products I could find in Canada at my local stores. I did look for Kiss My Face’s “Face Factor” which has an even better rating and an spf of 30, but it’s not available here. Anyway, the Alba facial sunscreen is basically unscented, and I’ve had no problems with irritation or breakouts. It’s a little hard to spread when it first goes on, but once it’s rubbed in and absorbed, makeup goes overtop with no problems. As a fair-skinned person who’s prone to freckle and burn, I need a higher spf if I’m spending the day outdoors, but for most days this will be fine.

Everything makes me break out, but this didn’t! Not greasy and it smells nice, too. If you find it a little thick, try rubbing it a little bit on the back of your hand to “melt” it a bit before applying it.

The best I’ve tried, the only sunscreen I’ve found without that typical sunscreen smell that is fine on my body but I don’t want near my eyes or mouth. Basically odorless, affordable, and has caused no breakouts or problems for me with daily wear. I’m anxious to try other AB products.
