This is a 2019 formula review:
FLAWLESS. I have very dry skin and I also live in an arid climate. I am prone to cysts and rosacea. None of these conditions is triggered by this formula. Sheer, spreads easily, absorbs instantly. Soft and stretchy comfort. It is extremely moisturizing, but also extremely light. It is truly effective for hours against the harsh sun. Not a new freckle or melasma spot since I’ve been using it. L’Oreal’s old formulas were heavy and greasy, but no longer. Perfection!
There is a *tiny* hint of white cast that is imperceptible to others. That suits me as I have medium to fair skin and the coverage seems to slightly even out my skin tone. I want my sunscreen to be occlusive and effective so I am happy I can see the faint white cast, frankly!
I usually layer some CeraVe or Cetaphil lotion over this for extra moisture but on the rare mornings I forget, this little gem attracts moisture very well on its own.
No streaking or running into my eyes either, which is usually a huge problem.
The bottle lasts forever.
This is as close to an HG as it gets for me. I will continue to purchase, always!

(For reference, I have normal-dry skin and I am a MAC NC25-30, approximately.)
This is my favourite sunscreen. This does not leave leave a white cast on me. It’s greasy upon first application like most sunscreens, but give it a minute and it dries down very well. And yes, I apply the proper amount, about 1/4 teaspoon for my face alone. I have never gotten burnt while wearing this and I did not tan at all this summer!
I have read other reviews where the reviewer mentioned that when you rub it in, it can ball up into tiny little pieces. I have experienced this, but not always. It only seems to happen when I put it on top of my vitamin C serum (OST Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum). I tried different combinations of products on different sides of my face (i.e. I might use the vitamin C on one side and not the other and then apply sunscreen to my whole face) and I realize that maybe some products are just not compatible with each other. On its own, it works beautifully.
Overall, A+ sunscreen but be careful about what kinds of products you apply under/over it.

**UPDATE**
The review below is for the old formula, ie: prior to 2012. Now, they have the new formula claiming to provide ultra light texture. I only used the new formula once and once was more than enough. I just can’t recommend this sunscreen anymore, either as a makeup primer or simply for using it as a sunscreen protection. Reason being, the new formula now leaves a very heavy white cast on face, never blends or absorbs into skin, can ball up into tiny particles on face, and it smells like a lab chemical that is highly offensive. In other words, I would totally avoid the new formula all together. It’s horrendous. Thus, I have changed my rating from 5/5 to 1/5. I want to give it 0/5 though, but the system on Makeupalley starts with 1/5, so there you have it. Avoid this please!
Bought this on sale for @12.99 CDN plus tax. I chose this after much research about how sunscreens really work, and which ingredients actually help to protect the skin properly. This contains pretty much all of the “protective” ingredients that are currently available on the market right now, such as Titanium Dioxide, Avobenzone, Mexoryl XL, Mexoryl SX, and so forth. This is the reason why the product is called “complete.” I think it’s important to get as much protection as possible because not all “protective” ingredients are effective in terms of protecting the skin from UV rays, particularly the two UVA rays (short and long rays). I also like the fact that this product does not contain Vitamin A. I try to avoid products with Vitamin A because it apparently makes the skin sensitive.
I was amazed at how light this lotion is. Upon initial application, the lotion does feel slightly sticky to the touch but after about 10 minutes or so it dries up to a soft finish. There’s no feel of greasiness that you get from a lot of other brands. I’ve tried a number of different Neutrogena Sunscreens in the past, but unfortunately, they all felt greasy and sticky compared to this product. I find that Ombrelle is much better suited for use with makeup than Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Water Light SPF 60, which I was using on and off together with Kinesys. Kinesys Sunscreen has a very light texture and I love using it under makeup. But unfortunately it does not contain all the “protective” ingredients like Ombrelle does.
Ombrelle is fragrance free, colorant free, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. It claims to provide a non-greasy texture that is fast absorbing, leaving skin feeling soft and comfortable. This is all true. I often react to new products but I didn’t feel any discomfort wearing this product. Also, I did not find any white cast left on my skin with Ombrelle. Most of all, I love the fact that it has a high SPF of 60. The product is for the face and body. 120ml in size. But I think there is a larger bottle in the form of 240ml.
I’m very happy that I have found a reliable sunscreen that can be used together with makeup.

I bought a 240 mL bottle of this for about $15 at Wal-Mart in Canada. A much better price than many of the face-specific sunblocks containing Mexoryl, so I thought I would give it a shot and maybe find a great face-and-body combo sunscreen in one!
No such luck. It stung immediately upon application, though the stinging faded and disappeared after 5 minutes. On more sensitive skins, I wouldn’t take the chance.
It also felt a bit greasy, and left a DISTINCT white cast when I first applied — something I am not used to, as I have a pale complexion. Again, that did fade after I let it dry for 10-15 minutes. But that’s not exactly something I have time to work into my morning routine before applying makeup.
For body, this feels okay. Just a TINY bit greasy on my chest and arms, which fades to a sort of dewy moist softness after a while, but I can live with it for the SPF 60 (I live at the beach and will likely be outside a lot this summer.) However, I would probably not repurchase this for the body – I’d try something else first. And definitely won’t repurchase for face.
