I have dry acne prone skin. And my toddler has eczema. I was researching like crazy to find a ss for her & that I could use on my face. I came across a similar version for face on beautypedia.com, but they mentioned the baby has the same ingredients & a much larger size.
I wanted a physical sunscreen. Easy to spread (after dealing w A.D. mineral brand that wouldn’t spread AT ALL) And I didn’t want to be left w acne, rash, or a white vampire face!!
It does leave me white. I have noticed now that it’s mid summer, I look a little gray. But I am on the search for a bb cream or something similar to cover that. I did notice a couple clogged pores after using this on July 4th, where we were in sun from early morning & didn’t get home to shower until very late. But no actual pimples. Which makes me love this stuff already, bc everything new I try breaks me out! Even just face wash sometimes, that rinses straight down the drain! (Hello cerave)
It smells AWFUL!!! I don’t know if mine went bad or something. I don’t rem it smelling that way at first. It’s only 3 weeks old. But it smells like something rotten. It’s a little heavy, but I don’t feel the greasy feeling on my face that a lot of ss give me.
I am still watching out for something better. But I refuse to wear a ss that’s going to break me out. I’d rather have wrinkles!!
I have bought elta md sport since this & wont put it on my face. It’s advertised as fragrance & oil free, but clearly has both. Also got the blue lizard sensitive. Think I’ll save it for my body, bc all the castor oil will most likely break me out. If castor oil doesn’t clog your pores, then that one seems to be a little smoother than the aveeno

Two lippies because it works and has no scent, but it is thick, sticky, hard to spread, and has the texture of Elmer’s Glue. If you reapply this on a beach, it is like sand blasting your skin because every grain of salt and sand you came in contact with is stuck to your skin. Hard to remove at the end of the day, also. I soaked in the tub, scrubbed with a washcloth in the shower, and still felt covered.

This product has the difficult to spread, gluey consistency that you often find with average mineral sunscreens. It leaves a heavy white cast. My kids did not complain about getting it in their eyes so that is a plus. Not sure what makes it “sensitive” or anything specific to babies, I suspect that is just marketing.

I was in Ottawa in the summer and the sun was blazing so I needed something to get through it. Got this at Shopper’s Drug Mart for C$20 and it’s good!
Though it has silicone (no idea why baby’s product will have dimethicone), it is really good for sunscreen and doesn’t affect my sensitive face. As my arms have eczema open wounds, it was causing some itching.
I’ve kept using it on my face and even eyelids. No problem. No stinging.
The only gripe is it makes me look like a Kabuki dancer with the whitecast but I will live.
