   Love this sunscreen. I’ve used this for years – both the older and the newer reformulated versions.

   I’m pale (approx. N10) and burn easily. I use sunscreen everyday. This one applies easily, sits well under makeup, and offers good protection. It does not sting, cause breakouts or other irritation.

   It is a thick white cream. It is not translucent on the skin and leaves a bit of a white cast. I’m pretty pale, so it really doesn’t bother me. It actually evens out my redness before I apply foundation. It also leaves a greasy sheen. On my body, I don’t mind. And I typically add foundation or powder to my face to counter.

   It’s a pain to get this in the US. I order from a french pharmacy and it takes a while. I definitely have to plan ahead. Luckily, I use the giant 300mL tube which lasts a long time.

   I love this stuff! My 5-year-old daughter has eczema/sensitive-reactive skin AND she’s very pale and burns easily. We have been using TruKid Sunny Days spf 30 which is a lovely product but unfortunately she has burned through it several times recently despite repeatedly reapplying. Then we switched to elta MD UV Pure spf 47 but it has a dry texture. Neither of those product has a high PPD. So I began my search for a high-PPD ss that’s easy to apply, won’t cause skin problems, is waterproof, and protects really well. And this product is where my research led me. What I love about it:
   – applies like a dream – it’s very smooth and creamy, and easy to apply to a squirmy kid
   – has high PPD of 39 (great broad-spectrum coverage)
   – it works: prevents my daughter from burning

   What isn’t so great about it:
   – gives the skin a pretty intense metallic sheen – my kids look like the Tin Man when they wear it (they think this is really cool of course)
   – expensive: $28 usd per 100 mL/3.5 oz.
   – impossible to find in US – have to import it from France
   – contains fragrance

   This contains physical and chemical sunscreen filters: Mexoryl XL, Mexoryl SX, Parsol 1789, Uvinul N 539, Uvinul T 150, Titanium Dioxide. Mexoryl is not approved in the US but it offers excellent protection and has been approved for years in Europe and is considered safe for kids. Overall, I highly recommend this for all kids, especially those who burn easily and/or have sensitive skin. I would not recommend it for adults because of the freaky metallic finish.

   This product used to be*amazing* when it was the PPD 28 version, but it has now been reformulated and this new version is horrible. I went through around 10 bottles of the old stuff and it was the most spreadable, smoothest Euro-sunscreen around – it never balled up at all during application or even came close to it. It was just very smooth. The new version is thick, yellow, and it balls up horribly while applying to the face, I’m guessing because Titanium Dioxide is the first ingredient after water on the ingredient list. I’m so disappointed. They reformulated LRP sunscreens to get rid of Parabens and cut down on chemical filters, but they made zero effort to replicate the consistency of the original and they compromised the cosmetic elegance of the original by adding too much TiO2. Impossible for me to apply the correct amount to my face because it just balls up and peels off. Very upsetting…. RIP Dermo-Peds. 🙁

   I’m not sure if i love this product or not. It comes in a huge 300ml (10oz) tube and costs (per oz) equal to or less than drug store sunscreens. It cost about 30 dollars on amazon through omorfiashop. the ss comes in a large tube with two children on a floating inflated duck, it has a flip open cap. the cream is a slight off white, almost yellowish ? color, milky liquid. more creamy liquid like a lotion. It gives a heavy inital white cast, and a silvery, glittery(?) sheen to arm hair, when i put it on i thought i had blonde arm hair again, (my arm hair is brown) but it was the sunscreen. Oh! another note, this sunscreen doesnt blend well with any kind of body hair, i’m a little disadvantaged because i’m male, i have arm and leg hair, and the ss collected in the hair. After about an hour, yes an hour, the white cast, though still there, did go away a bit, but my skin that had the sunscreen was tacky to the touch, so i couldnt see anyone covering these body parts. In other words, dont wear a cardigan or any other light material if you put this on, it’ll get messed up! the tacky-ness never went away. Now i know what youre thinking , why would i want this sunscreen if its tacky and whitening? Well here are the good points, I wore this on my arms and legs (no covering, shorts and short-sleeved shirt) and i didnt get any burn on my arms or legs, nor did i get any color. This was at Knott’s Berry Farm. and again at the beach . I’m very sensitive to sun exposure and usually wear jeans or pants, and a sweater, all year. I usually go out of my way to avoid sun exposure and hate being in it. I felt a little proud of myself being in shorts and a shirt being exposed to the sun. An accomplishment for me, and an even bigger thrill to see that i didnt get any color. It’s little difficult to remove so i used eucerin shower oil on the ss’ed areas and they come clean with no issues.

   i cant find the ingredients list anywhere so i’ll hand write it directly from the tube.
   ill write the active ss agents so you dont have to guess. It’s a Combo physical/chemical thanks to the huge amount of titanium dioxide, it *is* the second ingredient, that probably gives the ss its huge white cast. Tinosorb acts as a stabilizer for the avobenzone, and mexoryl sx and xl are L’oreal’s patented ss agents that work synergistically to really boost the PPD, Uvinul T 150 is a uvb shielding agent.    So all in all, the sunscreen’s finish needs a lot ofwork, but it’s passable, but the protection is amazing and tenacity is pretty good. You can’t beat the huge tube and price is decent. Despite the huge setbacks i really like this ss and i will repurchase, i’ll need something else though if i want to wear clothes over it. I dont wear this on my face. Its my go-to outting/beach body ss now. This sunscreen does its job, it prevents me from getting color (a sign of uva damage), so I’ll forgive it’s tacky ness and white cast. Something that is unacceptable with my other sunscreens .

   I’ve been using this for several years for myself and my 8 year old son. I’ve used it for when we go swimming or play golf, none of us have ever gotten even a little pink while wearing this. It doesn’t irritate our sensitive skin either. It’s a pain to order it as it’s not available in the US and It’s also about twice the price of drugstore SS but the protection is so much better that it’s worth it. We’ve used Banana Boat kids spray SPF 50 in a pinch when we ran out of this and did tan a bit. So I reordered the Dermo Peds and now that’s all we use. I used it on my son since before he tuned 2 and he’s never had problems with it. We’ve used it in Las Vegas in July, a summer vacation in Orlando, and many steamy summers in the South

   This review is for the new, re-formulated version (PPD 39) (my tube has a cartoon picture of two kids riding in what looks like an inflatable duck raft). This formulation is much thicker than the version I have that’s a couple years old, which actually makes it easier to apply. At first I was put off by this, thinking that it would be ultra-whitening on my skin (I have a yellow-based complexion), but so far, I’m pretty pleased. There is a bit of a white tint, but after several days of use I have gotten used to it (I don’t use powder or anything else on top of it). I have no idea how this would look when photographed, though.

   I agree with the reviewer below who said that applying it to both your face and your neck makes a big difference in terms of making the white-tint less noticeable. And I also agree with the reviewer below that who noted that this version may be a bit less water resistant, though I have not had a lot of opportunity to try it out. In my opinion, it also seems less sticky on the face than the older version.

   Overall, despite the slight white cast (which I don’t notice after an hour or so), because of the super-high PPD and the fact that I experience no burning or irritation at all from this, I rate this as a keeper. I also notice no scent whatsoever (not even a chemical scent), so that, for me, is a big bonus. I will definitely be using this when I have to spend a lot of time outdoors.

   I may give the SPF 30 version a try, or go with the suggestion of another reviewer and try the non-kids version (SPF 50) of this product to compare. (Just FYI, I ordered mine from the Pharmamundi storefront on Amazon and received my order quite promptly. Note, however, that the picture on Amazon seem to be of the older product, but I received what appears to be the newest version of this product from them.)

   I have the 300 ml Euro version with ppd 39 (bought it to spanish pharmacy for less than 15 euros).

   I was expecting this to be thicker…It’s not bad for a ppd 39. It’s not difficult to spread and does not feel oily on the back of my hands and arms.
   It’s slightly more yellow than the LRP fluids and leaves a silvery white cast that fades after 30min-1h.

   The bad:

   – Its water resistance is very disappointing. On the packaging, it says that is very water resistant, but it isn’t. When my hands touch water I can see it coming off (the water starts to become whiter). Anthelios ac spf 30 ppd 19 was more water resistant.

   – It’s too oily for my face (combination/oily skin). I only tried once – on a rainy and cold day. At first, it does not feel too bad (but my face is shinier and whiter), then it becomes greasier and greasier fast…after 2 hours I could not stand it anymore. The silvery white cast had not yet disappeared (usually white casts are more noticeable on my face).

   this review is about the new dermo peds

   it does not contain octocrylene,
   octylmethoxycinnamate (octinoxate, Eusolex 2292), and benzophenone-3
   (Oxybenzone, Eusolex 4360, Escalol 567)

   which are ingredients i try to avoid due to my sun sensitivity.

   it offers GREAT UVA and uvb protection which is so great for me and my super sun sensitive skin!!

   i find it a little whitening and a little shiny but the shine is easily cut with a dusting of powder in my t-zone and then with my liquid foundation (nars sheer glow – has coated TO2 so wont affect avobenzone in the ss) overtop the powder the finish is amazing!!

   the whitening isnt too bad either as long as i make sure to apply the ss to my neck as well – which i should be doing anyways- the whitening is not obvious at all – it actually evens out my skintone which i like 🙂 my skin is super pale though but i do find it to have a nice brightening effect!

   the only thing that i wish would be different about the ss is that it contains alcohol so its a little bit drying but not too bad. for soem reason my skin actually looks dryer with zinc based ss than with this. but to compensate for the drying effect of the alcohol in this ss, i use toms of moisturizer at night after washing my face and i dont wash my face in the am.

   LOVE THIS SS 🙂

   also i just want to thank everyone (you mua-ers know who u are!! 🙂 ) who have helped me with figuring out ss and has helped lead me to this point that i now can use an ss that really works for me that i dont have to keep reappling every 2 hrs every day (of course i know this should be reapplied often if out on the beach sweating and swimming or in a sitution whete the ss would physically get removed) but for everyday use im so happy not to have to reapply all the time anymore!)

   Oh dear, this has been reformulated without chemical filters and now it’s like going back to an early 90s sunblock when I apply it to my face – I have a deathly, ‘tin man’ look that means that I have to wear a darker foundation and even then it seems to bleach out my dark eyebrows in photographs. Why do companies alter the good products?

   I used to wear this because it had high protection (PPD28, now increased to PPD 39!) but it was less white than the untinted fluid extreme. It had a nice light texture that wasn’t at all bad on my oily t-zone. It even uplit my face a little. No more! The texture is now thick and tacky and my foundation breaks up even when there is a primer between the two products. I don’t even think it’s fair to apply this to a child’s face. What child wants to walk around with a grey/white face? The minute they see themselves in the mirror, they will refuse to go out with it on! You would think technology would have advanced enough for labs to be able to create the perfect sunblock by now, wouldn’t you?

   N.B I would wear the tinted fluid extreme but the colour is rather odd and makes one’s complexion look dull and you can’t apply it to the neck unless you want a stained white shirt. With the fluid extreme, it feels so thin that any foundation with alcohol might seriously reduce its efficacy.

   What now? I’ll have to mix a little tinted fluid extreme with another product from the Anthelios range. Sigh.

   Update: I compared this with their 50+ waterproof lotion yesterday that has a PPD of 32. I applied a dollop to each arm. This is what I observed:

   1) The Dermo Pediatrics is more yellow in colour than the standard one. You wouldn’t know this unless you compared them side by side.

   2) When rubbed in, the Dermo gives a silvery-white sheen that looks quite pretty on a tanned arm – don’t be fooled, it’s not at all flattering on the face.

   3) The Dermo looks much more occlusive than the standard 50+. I easily tell which arm had the Dermo on it because of the white/silver sheen to it whilst it was difficult to tell that the other arm had any sun protection on it. With a PPD difference of only 7points I’d just go with the standard 50 + chemical sunblock.

   4) Texture – The Dermo was tacky to touch even after waiting half an hour whilst the standard had a moisturized texture but wasn’t clammy.
   If you’re applying sun protection to your body it’s important to be able to slip on a silk cardigan without it dragging and you certainly don’t want it sticking or absorbing any lotion. Chiffon and the Dermo Pediatrics would be a definite no-go.

   Conclusion: Now La Roche Posay have changed their formula, this is really only for super cautious mummies who have children who are very fair and sun sensitive. If you’re looking for sun protection against ageing without chemicals, this isn’t the way to go unless you want your face to look very unnatural.

    One of the best of the LRP sunscreen formulas, I opted to try this as my facial sunscreen. In Canada, this is called Dermo-Kids SPF 45, but the consistency and packaging is the same more or less. The formula is runnier than some sunscreens, but it absorbs quickly, has no scent or white cast, and goes on relatively matte. It doesn’t feel oily or greasy. I use a moisturizer oil under this and I don’t find it very dry. I haven’t found any adverse effects on my skin. It’s one of the best sunscreens for face I have tried. LRP is the best of the European sunscreen producers; I already use an adult Anthelios XL version for my body. I also like Avene and recommend it for more sensitive skin types who can’t tolerate LRP.
