I recently cut my fine, thin, color treated hair from shoulder length to a longish pixie. I have a lot of hair on the very top of my head, but not much every place else, especially the back. I’ve been trying a ton of products to give me volume that leaves movement, but doesn’t make me look like I’m wearing a football helmet. This is the only thing so far that has worked. I agree that for fine, thin, short hair, a walnut size amount is way way too much. I use about a dime size, massage it into my roots all over my head, then use whats left on my hands to rake through the ends and over the surface, then blow dry with a small round brush as usual. I look like I have a ton of hair naturally (not poofy…just lots of heavy hair). But what I love most is it moves! It has great body and movement…something I’ve never had. I usually use a wax or spray wax to make it piecy, but if I don’t, the movement and volume last all day. Smells clean and light, not floral. Really good stuff.

Walgreens had a tiny cardboard display with some Toni & Guy hair products and what caught my eye were the neon orange clearance price tags…HELLO! Score. 75% off. It says to use a walnut size amount and good grief that’s ridiculous for fine hair like mine.I used that much and dried my hair and then had to re-wash it right away. A little definitely goes a long way. I dip the tips of my fingers slightly and then rub it in my roots at the crown. Not sticky at all. Also smells good, like a clean man. at 75% off, I figured I’d try other items so I got off work one day and drove down the longest street in town. Stopped at all the Walgreens on the way home and got all kinds ranging from shampoo/conditioner to heat spray; and of course three more tubs of the Volume Plumping Whip!

This stuff really does the job. It’s kinda pricey for the amount you get but a little goes a long way. I have very thin, fine hair and I just use about a walnut size amount and blow out my hair and wow! Volume.

Wow – I really like this stuff! It is a lovely option to Living Proof volumizing mouse or cream. Its certainly cheaper at $14 vs. the $26 for the LP stuff. I have fine, color treated hair cut in a reverse/stacked bob and I am ALWAYS looking for volumizing products that actually work. IMO, this works just a slight titch less than LP. Had I not tried LP, I would be using this and this only. However, I was so very fortunate to come into a couple of bottles of LP (after purchasing myself) = I have enough product to last me until end of 2014 (YAY!) and this does list a short shelf life span of 9 months = up for swap.
I get volume that lasts my 10 hour work day (desk job) and if coupled w/ got2be volumizing powder just at the back of my head roots = I still have volume by my 10 pm bedtime!
I still get movement so its not like helmet head like some products. I don’t notice any buildup either. It has a slight almost body lotion type fragrance. I do NOT like the tub container but I just make sure I have just washed fingers before dipping.
All in all – a very nice (and effective) alternative to LP volumizing products at almost 1/2 the price. I will go back to this product once I’ve used up my LP as the performance difference doesn’t justify the $12 more.
