At first, I had some difficulty using this product to get results. I was using the directions on the bottle which was a mistake. That changed when I was able to read some reviews on MUA, who provided better information in the application and use of this product. Since taking the advice of MUA reviewers, I have the results that I was seeking. This gel spray does provide that volume, lift and oomph to my shoulder length layered hair. The results carried over to second day hair too. There is not residue, stiffness or uncomfortable feel. I admit that I did not think this was going to work when I used this with the BB Dryspun Texture spray. Once I dropped the Dryspun spray, I found that the thickening spray works well enough without the negative experience I had with the texture spray. Thank you MUA reviewers!!

I love this product and have used it for many years. I’ve tried so many volumizing products for my fine hair and few give me the results that this one does. I spray it only at the roots of my hair because, unlike some other volumizers that seem to work well all over the hair, I think this really is meant for creating volume at the roots. I like that I don’t have to obsess about how much product to use. Some days I realize that I overdid it because I was distracted or something lol, and it didn’t leave any unpleasant build up. The key for this product, for me at least, is to follow up with heat. Without that, it will potentially leave hair crunchy and unnatural looking. But after using a hair dryer on it I find it gives natural volume that can be restored throughout the day by some fluffing.
The only downside is that the spray nozzle isn’t the best. Sometimes it gets stopped up because the liquid has built up and dried around it or inside it. Once that happens it’s a pain to unstick it, but running it under warm water sometimes helps – sometimes. In a few cases I’ve had to ditch the bottle and transfer to a different once because the darn nozzle would no longer cooperate. Other than that, I think it’s a great product.

This product works miracles I swear. I have really fine curly hair and I blow dry it straight every other day. Most everything I’ve used in my hair just makes it look limp and flat. This thickening spray (used sparingly because it can get a little crunchy if you use too much) makes my hair so voluminous it looks like I’m wearing extensions. My fine limp hair transforms into A voluminous but still touchable beautiful blow out. I use this along with the thickening mousse and the dry spun finish spray and my limp hair is transformed. I love bumble & bumble thickening products they’re the best!!

Wow! I got this as a sample in a Sephora Play box. Its amazing. It really gives an incredible amount of volume to hair. I like to apply more to the root before blow drying.
It is a sticky product. It leaves hair with a sticky feel similar to using a gel. I love this though for the volume it gives me. I will be buying the full size product when my sample runs out.
One star off because they are not cruelty free

This is brilliant but I would not use it too often…it’s laden with alcohol which attacks your nose the moment you spray and not good for hair in the long run. Previously I tried the B&B Thickening Shampoo which made my hair limp. Not with this! I spray this on my hair whilst damp and then blow dry it, leaving me with bouncy and volumized hair, absolutely no crunch or stickiness. My hair is naturally quite thick and many products I spray on end up making it turn frizzy. This didn’t do that. Also didn’t cause my scalp to itch. Gave my hair good hold, almost like a strong styling spray, and held this effect until I washed it out the next day. Will re-purchase, even if it is just something I will use occasionally.

Bumble and bumble’s thickening spray reminded me of old-fashioned hairspray when I first saw it in one of my subs so I was hesitant to use it. I run from hair spray products like they’re the plaque. But-knowing how much I really like this brand’s products, I decided to give the product a shot. So glad I did.
Simple concept-spray onto hair, then blow-dry. Except I prefer to spray into the palm of my hand, then apply to roots all over. Two sprays is more than enough for my chin-length, fine, bleached hair. In fact, one spray is probably enough. I am amazed at the volume this product gives my fine hair. After styling with heat, I have this full head of hair that I actually have to tone down a bit.
Slight hair spray smell that dissipates quickly. The effect lasts until my next shampoo which is a major plus for my lazy tendencies. I can curl, use a flat iron-choice is mine, and I still have volume.
No damage to my hair, another plus. Only complaint I have is that I am forced to use a shine product after styling because this product leaves my hair without any shine effect. That’s easy enough to fix. No flaking or itching. Overall a winner for me that I consider a staple now in my hair sundries.

I bought this looking for something I could take traveling with me and it worked perfectly. It was $10 for a 2 ounce bottle – perfect for travel. If that isn’t enough there is an 8 ounce bottle for $28. The product itself worked fabulously, leaving me wonderfully soft hair with good volume after styling. The only complaint that I have is that it did cause a few small tangles so I would recommend using a conditioning spray after. Although it is not my go-to styling product, I would recommend it.

This spray is awesome stuff! It gives hair body, texture, and fullness. It has a light, pleasant scent. Hair is shiny and holds styles better. I use it in combination with Diamax and Biomega’s Up All Night Volume Foam. If you have fine hair, definitely try this one!

Holy grail product!!! I have fine hair (albeit a ton of it), and almost every product weighs it down. THIS ONE DOES NOT! I’ve used it not for a few years, and will always have it in stock, as long as Nioxin keeps making it. Not only does this product make my hair feel thicker, but it also adds texture, which helps in all styling. Pricing is very fair for the product, and no complaints about the packaging!

I really like this product but it’s not a holy grail. It is def something I will continue to buy until I find something better, however. I feel like thickening products are very hard to find. I tease the top of my hair so I don’t need any help there, I want something to actually make my hair feel thicker and it does a fairly decent job.

I walked into Trade Secret looking for a thickening cream and the sales girl talked me into this stuff. It’s not quite what I was looking for, but seems to do a decent job. I have fairly straight and fine hair that’s medium/long. It’s been colored and highlighted multiple times, so it tends to be dry and damaged on the ends. I was looking for more of a cream to coat my hair and protect from styling damage. I started using this alone and sprayed evenly throughout my hair. While this does provide a decent amount of volume my hair had static after blow-drying. This tells me that it’s drying my hair out a bit. So I started using a hydrating cream on the bottom half of my hair and then spraying this thoroughout – concentrating on my roots and coming through. The results were better – no static – but my roots ended up looking a little greasy (must be from the silicones). All in all this is a decent product – probably more from someone who doesn’t have damaged hair.

I don’t repurchase products unless I am absolutely in love with them and I think they are the best of their category on the market, and this one was very nice to use, but didn’t make it into my holy grails.
I use this as a regular hair spray and not as a thickening spray or for blow drying. I like it quite a lot since it has an almost gel-like feel to it, like a liquid gel in a spray bottle. The scent is somewhat strong, but I can live with it. I could imagine people sensitive to smells wouldn’t like it.
Pro:
– holds hairstyles like buns and ponytails in place
– pump spray container is environment friendlier than aerosol can
– cruelty free
Con:
– pricetag

Once I found a way to use this that worked for me (thanks to a MUA review here) I like this better than I did but I still won’t repurchase because I have found better products for my hair. I usually like the BnB line, and was curious to try this since my hair is medium length, naturally wavy (I blow out with round brush), but fine textured. When I sprayed this directly onto my damp hair, even sparingly, it was sticky and unmanageable.
Thanks to a tip on MUA, I tried spraying it in my palm and rubbing my hands together, then working it into my roots and downwards. This seems to work better for me, personally, and my hair seems thicker and ‘bigger.’ I don’t like that this doesn’t hold a style, though, nor the price for what it is….and will not repurchase. I like Living Proof’s blow out spray better overall.

I recently got my hair cut into a long bob, and needed something to thicken my hair. For me, my hair is quite thin up the top and when I apply the product before I blow dry it. It does seem to make my hair thicker but I wouldn’t say that it gives volume. I got it in the small bottle, and it seems to have quite a lot of use as you only do a few sprays. But I would definitely get another product that gives volume to go on top.
