love this product so much! the scent isn’t too overpowering even though peppermint & lavender go great together; creates a very fresh, invigorating scent. the hold is a true medium: keeps the hair in place but is still easy to brush out. normally drugstore “medium” or “firm hold” gels are not what they claim but this one totally is which I think makes it worth the price. I also love that this gel is not too runny or watered down. pretty thick actually. I use this on my very short hair after I wake up & dampen it with some water from a spray bottle & it air dries the best it’s ever looked in a long time. can’t say enough good things about this.
p.s this also washes out real easy with a sulfate free shampoo so anything with sulfates should get it out no problem.

I’m currently using samples of the “firm hold” version of this gel. It’s quite thick and the scent is unisex but leans a bit cologne-like. I applied a little to my 2nd day hair before twisting it into a bun. It held the little hairs in place, but didn’t do anything better than any other hair gel.

I was given a trial size of this, otherwise I never would have tried it. I have used this 3 times as of today, and regret those days I have. I have naturally curly hair that is med-length, fairly healthy that easily styles and holds its style all day without much fuss or product. Oh my…this stuff is like tea tree scented glue. The first time I used it I was out of my regular gel(aussie volume gel) and used the same amount of this as I do the aussie…thought that was my mistake that time. The second time, thinking I needed to use a lot less, it left my hair the same. Today, weeks later I used it, out again of my gel, and soooo regretting it. This leaves my hair so coarse, crunchy and dry feeling that I can’t wait to wash it out!! Not to mention the shine that is usually in my hair is gone! Agree with other reviewers, this is likely best for a short pixie style or for a man, because if you want touchable hair this isn’t it. It also leaves a buildup after only one use. No way would I buy this. Sticking with my cheap aussie which gives hold with softness.

I prefer to use this in mens hair. Helps to give a strong hold. Although its not a favorite of mine….

I was amazed to find that Paul Mitchell makes a “firm hold” version of this gel, because the original version is like glue! I think this product would only work for those with short, spiky hair– definitely not anyone who wants a natural look. When I couldn’t find my preferred curl gel in Ulta, I picked this up as a temporary replacement. And it’s going right back to the store for a refund! (This was recently reviewed in Lucky Magazine as a gel that would turn wavy hair into curls…well, it will likely turn wavy hair into a big, sticky mess instead).
