I am shocked how good this is and I love that you can customize it for your needs. I added magnesium sulfate and the Yeah Mon! fragrance to mine. Shipping took a while but was worth the wait. This makes my curls pop and more springy. I get a bit of crunch in some areas but nothing some water can’t soften out. I also get good shine. It has a liquid consistency which is perfect for my 3b curls since it doesn’t elongate them. It really aids with frizzy areas and helps with getting an even texture. I would buy again.

I first discovered flax seed gel as a styling product about 3 years ago, and had a wonderful supplier on Etsy who made fabulous gel but unfortunately closed her shop. I recently discovered this new flax gel, and it is even better than the old stuff!!
Just like my other supplier, she custom tailors your gel to a blend of whatever ingredients you want to add. The shop owner, Alissa, will counsel you on what ingredients to add if you’re unsure, as she is a fellow curly girl. For my custom blend, per Alissa’s advice, I chose an 8 oz. bottle of the flax seed gel elixir, and added shea butter, irish moss, honeyquat, honey, agave nectar, and avocado oil. I chose the B&BW Moonlit Path scent for my fragrance, as that’s one of my favorite scents.
The gel comes in a small flip top squirt bottle, which makes dispensing easy and not that untidy. It definitely keeps it sanitary unlike a tub or something. It is the consistency of egg whites, and has a slightly off-white, slightly foamy appearance. I dispense approximately a silver dollar sized amount in my hand, emulsify it (carefully, because the product is quite runny), and then scrunch it into my wet/damp curls fresh out of the shower (after towel drying them). I do this twice, so I use two separate silver dollar sized handfuls for my shoulder length curly bob. I then use a nickel sized blob of Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee, emulsify that, and scrunch it in on top of the flax gel. I diffuse my hair dry, and scrunch out the crunch when totally dry. I finish with hair spray if necessary. This method has enabled me to have second day hair by merely misting my hair with water, scrunching, and diffusing dry or air drying. Voila, perfect curls all over again. It is pure magic.
Shipping took about 10 days, and the packaging smelled lightly of old cigarette smoke, so if anyone here is in a huge hurry to get their gel and/or is super sensitive to cigarette smoke smell, this is something you want to take note of. I will say that it was only the interior packaging that smelled of cigarettes, and not the product itself or the bottle. Had that been the case, I would have returned it. Her store front says nothing about the product coming from a smoke-free home, though, and the product really is superior, so it’s something I’m willing to deal with/overlook. Overall, I highly recommend it. Link to the shop:
