I have used this stuff for about 10 years. I use it on wet hair before I blowdry and it keeps it from frizzing up or becoming too wispy. I also used this on a friend shair which was fine and VERY curly. I sprayed this product on dry hair then blowdried with a round brush to dry the product and pull out the curl, then ran over it with my straightener and a very fine tooth comb. She said that she had never seen her hair so straight and it stayed straight through partying all night AND another two days.
The trick is not to over use this product and to use a minimal amount of heat with your styling tools.

This is expensive imo (USD$17.99 @ Kroger grocery store), but I’ve been experimenting w it & dang it holds my hair straight! Me: short very fro like hair 2C/3A when longer but when it’s cut short it just rolls up! So I’ve had kinked up waves (I was the victim of a recent bad hair cut–much shorter than I wanted to go! UGH!!), so I have been flat ironing w this spray by misting my whole head letting it dry a little (to avoid sizzle) & this stuff keeps my hair pretty smooth & the straightest of any products I’ve tried (also using Paul Mitchell SuperSkinnySerum), seems like my hair normally gets greasy easily & this keeps it dry & greaseless, it does have a matte finish but a little SSS helps…this has hold like a mild hairspray coz of alcohol but yah it’s a good product! I hate the scent it’s like Pinesol but this product is very effective & im happy/satisfied w my purchase! I even got 2 compliments on my hair today.

I got this because it was on clearance for $9.99, not sure how to use it – first time I used too much, it was stiff & a little greasy, next time I used it I used much less and sprayed it over all my hair first, is it supposed to be damp not wet? Or completely dry? I think their is a trick to using it but I don’t know the secret, does anyone out there know how to use this stuff? I don’t section my hair when I flat iron, I just pull the pieces that are bugging me and run the iron through it

I have thick, coarse hair that is very prone to frizz and waves, and the advent of good quality flat irons has really changed my life – I can finally get the finished results I like in very little time and with little fuss. I was eager to give this product at try, hoping it would help protect my hair from heat damage. Well, it did nothing at all, so far as I could tell. Actually, it did do something – it scared the daylights out of me when I would hear the “sizzle” sound that resulted from my flat iron passing over the sections of my hair that had been misted with this. Honestly, it did not sound like a good thing at all. Recently, because I’ve embraced hot yoga (and it has embraced me), my hair needs more flat ironing than usual. In an effort to protect it from the increased flat iron use, I thought I’d give this product another try but it’s as bad as I remember. I’ve started using Alberto VO5 hair cream (the stuff from the old days) to try to put a bit more oil and moisture into my hair after I’ve flat ironed it. But this Matrix stuff…save your money. I hope there are better products out there because this stuff is really not any good at all, in my experience.

I’ve owned this product quite a while and used maybe 20% of the bottle because I rarely flat iron my hair. I remember it not working out too well and not seeming to help with sleeking up my naturally curly hair.

I like this product- especially in the Summer. You have to use it right though- If you do not- you will have a bad experience like some of the other reviewers.
To Use:
Start to Flat iron your hair in sections. Once you have finished one section, spay this lightly, then go over the section again with your flat iron. Repeat until finished.
If you use this while your hair is still wavy/curly and not ironed I’m sure you will wind up with a sticky mes:(
This product works great to keep your hair from frizzing after you iron it.
I reccommend- but I am still looking for a product peforms the same, but feels a little better.

IMO – Don’t even waste your money on this product! It makes my hair crunchy, frizzy, hard to style and just like a hot mess. It’s no more “sleek” than a cactus is cuddly.

I thought it was just me who thought this was rubbish but after seeing what a low rating this product has It just confirms how crap it is.
The thing is, I’d been using this for a while and I thought my hair was just dry and crunchy because it was just damaged, I just never realized that it was this product making my hair feel that way. Well, I hated the way my hair felt and I chopped off all my hair thinking that it was hopelessly damaged and have been growing it out again. I haven’t heat styled my hair in 7 months and It has just grown enough to start heat styling it again. My hair is very healthy with 0 dry ends nor split ends. This morning I decided to flat iron my hair, I took out my CHI iron and used this product as I still had some left in my cabinet and guess what? that dry crunchy lackluster hair is back again! NOW I know what a hopeless heat protector this is because I know for sure now that there is no damage in my hair and it’s just this crap that makes it appear so!
DON’T PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!!! IT IS BAD!
There is one reviewer down below whom goes by the name of Devmar who claims that we bought our product outside of a salon and it’s counterfeit as too why it’s so bad. She also goes on to say that we don’t know to use it properly and thus the reason for it not being favorable amongst most reviewers here. (gosh, like we just crawled out from a cave like monkeys with dreadlocks on our hair and just started spraying stuff on it in the hope to make it silky?!) Well I can say that I purchased mine from a reputable salon for 15Euros and I am very experienced when it comes to hair products.. and I can still say that It is nothing but the crappiest heat protector that I have ever used and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

My hair dresser recommended this to me, and I really do not like it. Number 1, THE SMELL…it gives me a headache. 2, the way it makes it harder to get kinks out of my hair. I also noticed that if I accidentally made a kink it was harder to get out as well. I only use this right now because I need a heat protectant and I do not like to waste my money. After I will never purchase

I wish I had read reviews before I bought this. It was a little like using hairspray before flat ironing. Not pleasant! Did nothing good for my hair, just made it feel stiff and dry and in need of a wash. I recommend TRESemme Heat Tamer Spray instead. Its possible this works better for another hair type.
