Does anyone know where I can buy this online? or in NYC?
I haven’t found any at the Sally Beauty shops near me (in BK, NY)
is it discontinued?
thanks 🙂

This was given to me by a friend and at first I wasn’t totally sure what to do with it. I settled on using it to smooth out the frizzies and flyaways shortly before I’m finished blowdrying my hair when my hair is still just a tiny bit damp, and then I finish drying. A tiny amount is enough and it gives my hair quite a bit of shine. It holds up fairly well in humid weather and also doesn’t make it greasy at all, which is great. My only real complaint is that the cap makes it hard to dispense a tiny amount and sometimes you get way more than you need.

First of all, I have bleached hair, which tends to be dry, and have some breakage. I apply this to my hair wet or dry and it makes a great difference. I wouldn’t say it is quite as good as Biosilk, but very similar. I also think it adds a bit of shine:) I use about a quarter size amount, anymore than that leaves slight stickiness.

I say I would buy again because even though I have something that works better for my hair, I would buy again if I needed it. I like it compared to BioSilk, I am not a big user of BioSilk but I think it is comparable. If you liked BioSilk, you might like to try this stuff too.

Buyers beware! This is no longer the product it once was. I used this for about a year loving it. They have now changed the packaging and the formula. It once was almost a mirror image of Silk Therapy. The new formula is thicker and greasier and has the worst smell (all Silk Therapy lovers know it smells so good). It almost smells like it has fermented. It also left my hair a bit more weighted down. I used the new formula once and promptly took it back to the store and then went and bought the real thing. Things are so much better now!

I did not like this stuff, it did make my hair feel silky…and greasy. I tried using only a little, I tried using more. No matter what I did it made my hair greasy. I won’t use this again, even though it’s a lot cheaper than BioSilk.

It has the exact same ingredients as Biosilk- but I think slightly varying proportions because it is a little thicker.
I’m very happy with the price and the quality, a couple drops of this massaged into my hair (fine smooth hair, but lots of it) keep it very manageable and soft, largely thanks to the silicone in the product.
I bought this for another purpose though- to press my pigments! It is cheaper than the pressing mediums out there and unlike CS’s EZ Prez Medium, it isn’t messy nor do the layers of oil separate. The function is the same- because it is largely made up of the same ingredients (Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, SD Alcohol 40, Panthenol).
I took one lippie off because I just don’t like the smell. It’s not particularly revolting or anything, but it just doesn’t smell like something I associate with myself. Every once in a while I find myself sniffing at myself, trying to figure out where it’s coming from, and realize it’s my hair.

Great product, thank you sally beauty supply for this biosilk silk therapy knockoff, it smells and handles wonderfully. Finally soft smooth inplace hair that doesn’t have heavy gel or mouse in it!!!! Goodbye fly aways!

I went to sallys to pick up some shampoo. I usually buy my products at Ulta, and just got tired of their nasty attitudes. I went to sallys to get a brush, and wanted to know if they had something similar to the $25 of biosilk. They had the same exact thing called GVP silk treatment. This stuff looks and smells the same as the biosilk. I have fine wavy hair that I straighten with a CHI flat iron, and this works ok, not like the orignial biosilk- thats why I have rated it 3 because even the cheapy Garnier works better than this. This only costed me like $4 and the bottle is going to last me a long long time- I only use a dime size everyday. For that price I will keep it but I wont buy again because it just doesnt work the same. I dont feel like returning it, sally’s is far from my home.

My hair is thick and wavy. To make matters worse, I live in New Orleans. 100% humidity 100% of the time.
This was recommended to me by one of the women at Sally’s as a good way to tame my frizzy hair.
I have to say I am extremely happy with the product. It makes my hair super soft. It also keeps my flyaways down. I use a dime size drop and smooth it on my wet hair before blow drying. I can’t say how well it works compared to the original since I have never tried it.
My only complaint, I wish they had nicer packaging.
