I like the way this product makes my hair feel and it seems to offer some anti-frizz protection. The package is inconvenient for travel, but works fine around home.

Light styling milk, which doesn’t weigh my hair down. I have long, bleached blonde hair that is thick all over, but each hair itself is very fine. I use two-three teaspoons of the Satin Design and it tames the frizz without making it limp. The hair looks and feels very airy. It does not leave a sheen, nor does it look matte, maybe a slight satin finish. I cannot use hair oils, like Nuxe or Moroccan oil, no matter how small amounts I use, It makes the hair heavy and limp, and it just look unwashed in a dirty way. I considered taking one lippie off because of high price, but, as someone mentioned, the price is actually ok since a bottle provide a good amount.

It’s been almost a year that I’ve been using this product, time to write a review. My hair type: very fine, naturally wavy, shiny but easy tangelled, hates cones and gets frizzy fast. It’s almost at my waist length, cut in a V shape.
I don’t know what compelled me to buy this product, the bottle disign, I guess. But I don’t blow dry or straighten my hair. Instead I air dry half way through and just use a low heater setting on my fan to finish it. This milky, serum-like liquid is GOLD. My hair hates serums, cones, coconut, olive oil, Kerastase, Brazilian Blow dry etc, etc. I never see any difference with any leave-ins, styling it is impossible. It’s what I call “nasty hair”. But my hair loved THIS ridiculous polish. 1 lippie for light, divine, NON-lingering scent, 1 lippie for not building up (it does have ISOPARAFFIN as 2nd and DIMETHICONE as 4th ingredients), 1 lippie for a generous bottle 250ml with a fantastic pump that can dispense as little product as you’d like. BILLIONS lippie for what it does it to my tangled, fine, disobedient hair: smooth, silky, healthy, shiny, but not greasy. It totally gives me that salon, blow-dry look that takes forever or never happens for me at all as the moment I step outside my hair frizzes up and tangles. I literally never wore my hair loose since it grew past my shoulder blades…until I bought this magic in a bottle. Another added bonus is that my hair seem to think it’s a defining product as well: my hair gets into locks a-la Victoria secret if I don’t brush it for the whole day, but if I want smooth, Pantene look, I comb with a brush and Whoala!
Hard to find in Canada. I bought mine in a Suki salon, but now Holt Renfrew carries it. Oh, if you are persistent and a pro-shopper, at Holts they can ask for a sample as all you need is a quarter size for my almost waist long hair.

Rock star styling product – Just got this earlier today and my hair is silky smooth and retains its shape without feeling heavy or sticky.
I did a half towel and 10 minute blow dry My hair is quite thick so 10 minutes doesn’t get it bone-dry. Having dyed and permed my hair once in the last twelve months, I try not to blowdry my hair too much for fear of wrecking it 🙂
Here in Asia, it’s not as expensive, about $45 bucks for the big bottle – I reckon it’s good value for money since I used to pay about $50 for a bottle that was a third smaller. Score! 🙂

i like this styling cream. it’s lighter and less greasy than the frederick fekkai glossing cream i was using, and has a pleasant scent. with my thick, coarse hair, a little goes a long way and makes my hair so soft and shiny without weighing it down. yes, it’s expensive at $65 for the bottle, but it will last me a long time. also, i find the pump dispenser more sanitary than tube.

Oh Shu Uemura. I’ve wanted to love you. I wanted to love Absolue Essence – huge fail. Tried to fall in love with Moisture Velvet treatment but it left my hair weighed down and coated. And now this. Satin Design also was a letdown…it’s just kind of a blah product. I’m not sure what it does as my hair felt soft..yet it looked so dull after this product.
I’ve returned all the Shu (art of hair) products..and will stick to their makeup line only. My hair loves Kerastase and I will stick with them.
sad.

The salon that I just started going to a few months ago only uses Shu Uemura and Kerastase products. This is one of the products my stylist used on my hair.
I have thick Asian hair that has just a slight bend to it. The product has a nice scent. I use it to smooth out my hair before blow drying and it leave hair without tangles, so it does a nice job with that.
I use this product about 3 times a week so this will bottle will probably last about 10-12 months in my estimation. Still, $65 is pricey especially knowing that there are products for a fraction of that price that are work just as well. I splurge on a lot of things since I have the means and am a big-time shoppaholic but expensive doesn’t mean better in my book.
I rated this at 3 lippies because although it’s a nice product, it’s overpriced.

Shu Uemura Satin Design will make your hair feel like silk! You can use it before you blow dry to get swingy, shiny locks or use it afterwards as a finishing product and it won’t make your hair look or feel greasy. It’s pricey, but worth it.

This is a great lightweight product that can be used especially during the summer since it tends to be hot and we sweat a lot more. This makes my hair soft and manageable with a light hold. The pump design of the bottle is also great becuase you dont lose the product and it also smells really nice!

This is a new line from Shu, this product was used on me at a salon and I liked how light it felt in my hair and it smells very good-
It was used on my hair when the stylist blowdried my hair, but I use it on my wet hair out of the shower and let it air dry-
It controls frizz, and gives a lightweight hold to hair but isn’t greasy-
I noticed on Sunday night after I used it I just twisted my hair into shirley temple ringlets and it kept that shape and left a beautiful pattern in my hair the next day-
I myself haven’t used it and blow dried my hair yet, I have long hair so it’s a lot of work for me, but I am sure it would provide good results for me-
