I have tried the Mythic Oil and on a superficial level I would say I loved it: I have super dry, coarse hair and it managed to tame it, give it shine and hydrate it, make it more manageable.
BUT
if you look closely and with a more educated eye at the ingredient list you’re not going to be happy at all.
it has 6 HIGH RISK fragrance ingredients (fragrance is usually no-no because it has great irritation potential) so it’s formulation is really not that luxurious, as the ingredients aren’t exactly okay.
Now I’m using Kerastase Ultimate Oil which has a way more cleaner ingredient list (not to mention safer and high-quality) but the price is according to that as well: double than the Mythic Oil with similar effects (Kerastase a bit better, however, in terms of texture, lightness and hydration).
Mixed feelings about this product because of the ingredient list…

I love this oil, amazingly it’s non greasy and is one of the few products that can transform my dull, very dry hair into something shiny and manageable. It smells divine, is easy to apply I use it on the mid lengths and ends of dry hair after styling. I would recommend this to anyone. The only negative I have is the price.

Great oil! I use this on my midshaft to ends as a heat protector pre on my fine oily scalp hair blow dryer (just a touch! ) I also like the hair milk which is nice for flyways on my fine straight hair post blow drying or days I let my hair air dry. they both smell wonderful and won’t weight fine hair down as look as you use just a touch and absorb quickly. Price is very reasonable also.

I was a long time Morrocanoil user but after finally finishing my bottle I simply wasn’t wowed by it enough to want to repurchase. Grabbed a travel size of this to try and am really quite impressed!
It’s a little thicker, smells lovely and feels more nourishing than other oily type serums I’ve used. One pump is plenty for my chin length bob, and makes it easy to comb and less frizzy and flyaway when dry, giving a sleek but not flat look.
The price is definitely right, too, a 100ml bottle is less than AU30, whereas Morrocanoil is AU50 at least.
I’m hoping over time that this will prove more caring than MO, which I find mainly cosmetic.

I’ve had this product for a long time and I go back and forth with using it. I apply it to my hair after it’s blowdried and straightened if I find it looks a little damaged and/or could use more shine. It definitely has more moisture and feels more nourishing than other shine/repair serums I use (on dry hair specifically). The scent is nice, very light and a little floral/fresh but not overpowering. The price isn’t bad when you factor in how big the bottle is and how little you need to use. Overall I find this is a handy product to have as it helps my hair when it needs a little bit of extra care but it’s already styled and it’s too late to go back in time and deep condition. Would repurchase.
Edit nov 2019 – started using this again lately. Tried it on damp hair and heat styled. Hair was light and soft. Still a great product!

I recently purchased a travel size of this at cvs to try to replace my Moroccanoil. It smells like a mix of biolage and flowers, simply lovely. It does a decent job of adding softness and shine to my hair bit I have to use quite a lot, and it’s not as moisturizing as the Moroccanoil. The search continues!

I usually split my hair into 2 sections and use 1 pump on each section from below ear down.
A little bit sticky but thins out nicely if you warm up the oil by rubbing your palms. Makes hair shiny and smooth. Easier to comb and light fragrance.

I like this product – it does have a smooth, light texture so I don’t need to use a lot of product, and it has a great scent – and since it’s not a deep conditioner, it is good for everyday. I actually use it as a leave-in conditioner (perfect for these cold winter months!). My hair is thick and curly/coily, so this probably wouldn’t be a good option for all hair types, but it works very well for mine. I use very little and work it mainly through my ends. It makes my hair very shiny and smooth. Also, using very little in this way means the bottle will last longer.

The Mythic Oil shampoos is like heaven-sent to me, this conditioner just complement the series. It isn’t too heavy, yet one & a half pumps is enough to treat my hair ends. It could be more moisturising, but for daily use…this product does just fine. On times that I need more TLC for the hair ends, I’ll use the Mythic Oil Mask. Fantastic series that smells divine.

Blonde hair with highlights, I blow dry and sometimes use hot rollers.Shampoo every 2-3 days. Daily in summer if I sweat. I got the shampoo, conditioner and glow oil and immediately fell in love. My hair looked amazing, the scent is so good, it reminds me of Oscar Blandi’s Jasmine Shampoo I used to use. I saw good prices on the big bottles of shampoo and conditioner so I went ahead and ordered them. HUGE MISTAKE. Before I finished the small sizes, the gorgeous shine I loved so much began to cease and my hair got drier and drier until it became a hot mess. It even began to tangle and my hair never tangles. Now I have these big full bottles … so I gave some to others to try. They had the same experience. Loved it at first then as time went on, the dryness and horrible looking hair. So I put the big bottles in the guest bathroom. It seems fine for a month or so, but after that it is all downhill. I was so disappointed because I love the scent and how it looked at first but this is about the most drying shampoo and conditioner I have ever used. Back to my Kerastase, it has never failed me.
Perhaps if you used it just once in a while but it made my hair such a mess, I don’t have the courage to use it again.

I have very long, medium-thick hair, highlighted and dyed on top for a more natural blonde colour with depth. I also always style it with a ceramic straightening iron, which means my hair needs a LOT of care in order to look good. In the past I used Sebastian products that always did the trick, but I cannot afford that price-point anymore. I found this product in a 1lt bottle with a pump, from a website that sells professional-sized products. At 20 dollars for this size it is very cheap. I also bought the mask, that comes in a 200ml pot. Both products are top quality. I would classify them up to par with Kerastase products, which I use when I need to restore my hair. My hair has, quite literally, never looked better. I have been using the products for six months now. They are very moisturising, eliminate frizz and restore heat and colour damage. Hair is very supple and very strong with a high shine. I used to need a lot of product before but this line is a little different, I can’t place the reason. Two pumps of shampoo per round, at two rounds per wash, means the 1lt bottle lasts for months, which is an entirely novel experience for me. I’ve always had very long hair that I frequently wash within the week and I used to go through a bottle of shampoo within about 15-20 days. Shampoo gets 10/10 on all fronts. The most important thing to note, though, is the combined use of the mask. This comes at a regular sized-pot. I bought the gold one, for normal hair. It is a very thick concoction which melts in your hands so be very careful not to use a lot of product. I used to pile on the masks with so much hair, so it took a bit of getting used to at first. The instructions say 3 minutes and that is, indeed, all it takes. Absolutely detangled, hydrated, restored hair in 3 minutes. I couldn’t believe it. I will not change this range for any reason. The only downside is my son and my husband got into my bottle of shampoo and now they refuse to use anything else, which annoys me. My son says it smells like gold, whatever that means. Absolutely recommended.

After going through a sample size of this shampoo with good results, I decided to fork out thirteen euros to get the full size bottle. Unfortunately as time goes by this has become visibly drying to my hair. I finished the bottle but I will not be getting it again. I will say that the scent of this is to die for, which is the case for every single Mythic Oil product. Good thing it now also comes in the form of a fragrance.

I’m not sure I’ve ever given a full 5 lippies in all 3 catergories before – I’d have to go and check and right now i can’t be bothered, since I am dying to tell you how amazing this stuff is!!!!!
So, i have shoulder length, fine hair – full process along the bottom panel and foils through the top half every 4-5 weeks, so my hair is being hammered a bit. It’s always been in moderately good condition – one too many bleaching disasters as a youngster means i’m now at pains to protect my hair as I am B4L (blonde for life).
This stuff is amazing!!! It lathers well enough, though i only use a little, put it on my hair, rub it in a bit then stick my head back under the shower to add more water, then lather up. A bottle (pump pack – love it!!) lasts about 8 weeks of 5-7 x per week. I am using it in conjunction with the conditioner which i always think, makes a difference.
Also – my hair is currently pale pink and this s+c combo strips my colour far less than other nourishing/hydrating ones. Will definitely continue to purchase.

I was on a roll, with the L’Oreal Mythic Oil series. Perhaps it was developed to ride on the argan oil hair trend, I didn’t go deeply into ingredients but the bottle looks fabulous & smells like divination. The product looks like liquid gold, one & a half pumps does it for my long hair. It easily lathers up without too much suds (SLS?) it rinses off to disentangle my fine, easily-tangled hair & my hairs’s already so soft like a mythic coating over it, before going on the 2nd step. Bought the Conditioner too, and both combo kept my fine straight hair, silky without being weighted down. Will be my staple series, together with the occasional Mythic Oil Mask. My hair’s been the looking at its best.

I use this oil periodically but haven’t noticed a drastic difference in my hair!! it does hydrate well though for the price (comparable to kerastase products which I have also tried before). I have a half a bottle left though and would probably not repurchase it (for my hair type there are other options as well like kerastase and caviar cc cream by alterna which I literally live on).

My hair – fine (but lots of it!), coloured (natural dark blonde, dyed nearly black), and wavy, with a tendancy to go flat on top with a frizz halo (my nickname in highschool was “christmas tree hair”). I have a few long layers but anything other than that and my hair looks stringy. Anyways, I’ve tried so many different shampoos/conditioners and never really found anything I was happy with. I have access to a Cosmoprof so I mix between drugstore and salon brands. My most recent failure was Redken Frizz Dismiss line paired with Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil.
A few weeks ago, I had an Olaplex treatment done, and the stylist used Pureology Volume shampoo and conditioner, followed by L’Oreal Mythic Oil. I let my hair air dry while driving home and OMG the waves…the softness…amazing. I bought all 3 products last week and I’m really happy with them – a coworker commented that my hair looks fuller, so something must be working! I paid $22 CAD for a bottle at Cosmoprof (stylist price), but I would definitely pay retail.

When I first used Mythic Oil, I loved how soft and detangled it made my wet hair. It smells good like gardenias too!
Alas! 🙁 When my hair is dried and flat ironed, it leaves my hair in no better manageable condition than before. If anything, my ends feel crunchier and my hair dryer and much coarser than before. I mean, I have some serious breakage after switching to this oil for just two weeks.
I previously used Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil mixed with a dab of Garnier Fructis’ Moroccan Oil. The Invisible Oil alone isn’t siliconey enough to tame my crazy hair. The two products seem to be a magic combination for my super thick and frizzy hair. I was hoping to find one product that achieves the same results.
The search continues! :/
